บท 103: Drug the Baileys
At the military base...
The mafian bosses had released General Bharat; they stayed in his office all night and held him captive, but in the early hours of the morning, they had released him. He had explained to them prior to his release how to execute the plan. After he was released and came out of his office, he locked the door with his keys; he had given the mafian bosses an extra key to his office. He looked down and kicked the two soldiers at his door very hard.
As soon as they woke up, they began to apologise, they did not know when they fell asleep; the last thing they remembered was drinking Baileys, they had asked a friend of theirs to help them bring their usual from the military bar. They also noticed that their soldier friend was holding the back of his head as he brought the baileys to them. Apparently one of the mafian bosses had knocked him down, just enough to make him unconscious for a few minutes in order to drug the baileys.
General Bharat, with an angry look, dismissed them immediately and told them they should not stay for the night; they should join the other soldiers in their drill like they normally do and go to bed when the other soldiers did. They thanked him and ran off happily before he changed his mind.
Now he was back in his office, not empty-handed but with food and drinks. Before he came, the other generals were surprised that he could come down to the military cafeteria himself and order food. They could not remember the last time he did that. The cafeteria was meant only for generals. The major generals had his special cafeteria, this is where he entertains any major general that comes visiting his military base. The rest of the soldiers also had theirs. General Bharat didn't answer any of their questioning look.
And when he was outside, a junior soldier offered to help him carry his food; he declined and ordered the soldier away. This was surprising to the soldier because on a normal day, he would call them to carry his things. The soldier went away and decided to tell his friends. While he was at it, Ajay, Pulkit and Sagar heard, but they did not receive the information casually like the others, they suspected something must be up. They kept their cool though, to avert any form of attention on them, and indirectly alert the enemy.
Standing at the front of his office door now, he knocked lightly 3 times, it was a signal the mafian bosses had discussed with him early, it was a sign, to let them know he was the one. After knocking 3 times, he used his keys and entered. The mafian bosses interogated him before they ate. They asked if he did snitch on them, that if he did, his family would be dead. He told them no and kept on pleading that his family should be spared that they had nothing to do with this.
The 1st mafian boss responded that he knew what to do, that he shouldn't try to betray them a second time. He looked around the mafian bosses, they looked scary, so he nodded, he kept mute and was cursing them internally, that he wished they were wiped out along with their gang. He stood and waited for them to be done eating. When they were done, he took their empty takeouts and threw them in the bin outside his office. He locked the door and went out to resume his normal military duties as if nothing was going on.
In the USA....
Honeymoon was not over, 5 days was remaining, but Rohit could barely walk well, he had married a sex maniac. He booked the return tickets back home, he was not ready to die yet. He did not tell Sunita about it, otherwise she would go crazy and be mad at him. He wondered what had happened to his sweet Sunita. He was now regretting why he agreed to marry her, all of a sudden he started missing Jasmine.
Sunita wanted some ice cream, so he begged her to go downstairs and buy it from the restaurant in the hotel they were at. She didn't want to at first; she began to complain that Rohit does not love her and that if he did, he would order it and ask for room service. She was beginning to get mad at him, but he was able to calm her down and convince her that he would buy her the expensive necklace she saw at the jewelry store when they recently came for their honeymoon.
She later agreed. While she was downstairs, he quickly packed up the little belongings he brought for the honeymoon; he did not mind the excruciating pain he was in. He had ordered uber, and the uber man was waiting for him downstairs. When he was done, he came out of their room and went through the back elevator. One of the male cleaners saw him and helped him with his bags. While Sunita was coming upstairs, Rohit came to the lobby through the back. He entered the Uber, tipped the cleaner and thanked him.
Where to, sir? the uber man asked. The airport, please, he replied; that was how Rohit got back to Delhi. He did not go to the Burih mansion, he knew Sunita would find him there if she decided to take an earlier flight back home, nor did he call his family members to tell them where he was, he knew Sunita would be able to squeeze out the vital information from them.
When he got to Delhi, 17 hours, 21 minutes later, he checked into an unknown hotel, he also called for a doctor to attend to him there because he knew that if he went to the hospital, Sunita somehow would be able to trace him with the help of her dad. An unknown hotel was his best option, a place that no one would think he went.
Sunita was in tears when she got to the hotel room and did not meet her husband. Rohit had switched off his phone incase she tried calling, which she did. He had called her only when he got to the airport and was about entering the plane. He told her he was on his way to India, that he had bought a return ticket for her, the ticket was for the day both of them was suppose to come back together, and gave a flimsy excuse that he was rushing back because of an emergency, she should enjoy herself and come back when the honeymoon was over.
Sunita cried and cursed him a lot on the phone, after some time, Rohit cut the call and switched off his phone when she refused to stop. Sunita cried for few hours, but later calmed her self down with the ice cream she bought. She had put it inside the fridge inside the room when she came in earlier. After she finished her ice cream, she slept and only woke up when she was hungry. She remembered Rohit telling her she could use his credit cards he left behind. She ordered food, used their room service. The food came, she paid. She took her bath, ate and started watching television.
In India....
It was nightfall when Prakash and Kunj had returned to the military base in the early hours of the evening. Kunj went about getting updates from Ishaan and the others while Prakash was catching up on his information from Ajay, Pulkit and Sagar. Prakash not only got updates from them; he also told them the progress of things from his end. His buddies also asked him if he got any thing from Kunj. Although him and Kunj have settled their differences, they were not friends or pals either, he was honest with his buddies.
He told them, that soldier has nothing on him, before we came, I had Detective Rishi investigate him and also drilled him physically, he is clean, he is also willing to get concrete information out from Soldier Kunj, to prove his innocence further. These are some of the things that delayed our flight back to the military base today.
Soldiers Ajay, Pulkit and Sagar didn't entirely buy the idea of Kunj helping out, for all they know he could be an enemy in disguise. Soldier Prakash assured them that he is genuine, that they should have seen how shocked and surprised he was when he heard soldier Ishaan was involved in all this from detective Rishi. Speaking of Soldier Ishaan, how did you get to know he was the one when it was in the dark? Prakash asked Ajay. Well at that time, the mafian got a call, his screen shone on both their faces, and you know how very sharp my eyes are even in flashes of light at night, Ajay responded. Soldier Prakash acknowledged.
Yes I remember, he answered and asked Sagar out of curiosity, you mentioned that information was passed today that 3 generals would be visiting the barrack to educate and briefly train the troops on international affairs and that there would be a group and individual based competition afterwards? Yes Prakash that is correct. Who is in charge of their movement here and to receive them? Prakash asked again.
Well information that was passed did mention general Bharat, the second in command of the barrack, Pulkit replied. But why are you asking though? Ajay asked. Well it is unusual for them to have not come by this time. I mean, you did mention that the afternoon drill was meant to be supervised by them as a warm up before their training proper on international affairs tonight, but not only where they not present in this afternoon drill, tonight's training was canceled, and all soldiers were instructed to go to their dorms early, any soldier found outside by 6 pm would be punished by omission of the Indian troops.
Even all the generals except for general Bharat and chosen soldier escorts are allowed to be found outside because a curfew was suddenly announced. And Major General Arora isn't one to do rounds, he has soldiers for that, he mostly retires to his quarters earlier than any of us. The soldiers who are meant to do rounds are all placed at the doors of all dorms and strategic points. So no room for escape even if someone tries to.
You also mentioned today that a soldier was informing his friends how General Bharat who is hardly seen at the cafeteria, who sends his junior soldiers on errands especially to get him meals, did go by himself and would not allow the soldier assist him, Prakash said. Yes, we wondered why our selves because one cannot just change his or her behaviour over night especially a general, Ajay replied.
Something is fishy guys, I think we should sneak out tonight, this is the best time to uncover who is behind the sales of the sophisticated military weapons to the mafians, what do you say guys? Prakash asked and brought out his hands. This is risky but am in, Ajay said and brought out his hands too, guys I really don't know but am in, Sagar joined his hands with theirs as well. The 3 of them then looked at Pulkit who was reluctant. Guys I don't want to be rusticated out of the army, but how do we do these guys? Pulkit asked and joined his hands with the rest of the guys.
At the Arora Mansion....
Jasmine was in her bedroom, she was on the phone with Sonal. She was briefing Sonal on how her interview went. She told Sonal the interview was a piece of cake and that she was grateful to Sagar. One thing led to another, the girls then reveled their new relationship status to themselves. The previous night, when Prakash proposed, she had removed her ring before she came downstairs with him. She explained to Prakash, she would inform Jasmine at the right time about her new relationship status.
Jasmine in turn did not have the time to inform Sonal the night before that she had given soldier Ishaan an answer to be his girlfriend because she didn't want to keep madam Mehra waiting anymore, and the night before that she did not inform Sonal that soldier Kunj had asked her out because she was not sure of her answer to him, she saw how Sonal was happy to see Prakash, she didn't want to bother her with her and Kunj's story.
She knew that her best friend wouldn't mind though, but they had a long day the next day, they needed to attend the funeral of Prakash's Uncle, everyone had to sleep early. Now coming to the present. After Sonal congratulated Jasmine in advance on acing the interview, she told her thar Prakash had proposed and that she had accepted. This moved Jasmine to also inform Sonal that Kunj had asked her to be his girlfriend, she accepted and now she is in a relationship with him.
They both asked each other if it is what they really and truly wanted, yes came out from both their mouths, they were happy for each other. Jasmine also informed Sonal that her mum called earlier, that the rest of her family would be coming the day before Sonal would go to the military base to cover the story. Sonal did try to convince Jasmine to come, which she agreed initially, but now she has to welcome her family.
She informed Sonal she is sorry that she won't be able to come. Sonal even tried to use Kunj as a bait, but it didn't work. She and Kunj never had that discussion of her coming to the military base. Even Kunj had no idea that Sonal would come as the Mehra Tv representative to cover the military story which is themed promotion, rewards and Indian Troops.
