Raine stumbled and backed away upon seeing the rage in Janus' dark eyes. She knew exactly what that means.

It was already nerve-wracking to see Torak get mad, but Raine thought this was much worse, seeing that she now had become the object of the Alpha's anger.

Fortunately Diana was calm enough to assess the situation. She held the Alpha's arm to keep his beast at bay.

At his mate's touch, Janus' tensed muscles relaxed slightly. He pulled Diana closer to him and kissed her forehead.

During that moment, they communicated through mind-link and not long after that, Janus nodded his head rigidly and let go of Diana's waist.

Diana then walked gracefully towards Raine and ordered Dmitri to release his tight grip on her. Dmitri did as he was told, but he still stood close enough to act fast if needed.
