After I signed many things happened at once. I was taken back to the place I was when I first arrived here and I waited there. I'm not really sure what was going on behind the scenes but I didn't mind. I was given a proper amount of food so I decided to do some light exercise to pass the time. After the third day or so the door opened again. On the other side of the door was Lily along with the principal.
"Hello, Luis." (Lily)
"No need to be so formal, am I out of here or do I have to wait longer?" (Luis)
"We'll be leaving right now. We'll be taking you to the facilities as well as your dorms." (Principal)
"Dorms?" I say as I stand up," Will there be other students there?"
"Not many for now, they all are using their vacation to visit family or go into the other realms, and some on internships on other parts of Earth ." (Principals)
That's good to know, I'm still not sure what she means by realms but I'll figure it out.
"Alright," I say as I head to them and start going out. I already signed that contract, finding a way to get around it in the next four years will be difficult.
"You know, you don't have to keep up that wind barrier around you right now, we aren't going to do anything to you."
Wind barrier? I am using some wind, I guess I got used to this after all that training...
"...Better be safe than sorry."
"...Alright then."
It gets quiet again, I don't really feel like talking so I'll just let this silence continue.
"You don't have any questions for me other than that about the academy?" (Principal)
I sigh, or maybe she'll try to get some answers out of me.
"I'll just figure it out when I'm there, is there anything specific that you would like me to know?"
We head out of the room onto the elevator.
"I don't know, why don't you ask?" She says as we get to the elevators and enter.
I sigh again.
"I know you're trying to spark up a conversation but I don't think there's any need to. If there's anything particular about the academy then in all due likelihood you would've told me already or a hint would've been in the contract you gave me."
"Really now, what did you figure out then?" (Principal)
This is really annoying, can't you help me, Lily, I know you are reading my mind.
<How did you know?>
'You're too quiet.'
<Just go along with what she says, I can't go against her.>
"...Fine, based on the rules you gave me I can tell you what I think of the academy."
"Go ahead."
"Based on rules 4 and 6 I can assume that there's some kind of ranking system in place and people at the top usually have more power. And by 'power ' I don't mean physical or magical but rather standing. In all due likelihood, anybody on top has special priveledges and is often preferred unless it's a severe situation.
Rule 10, which surprised me the most, \ is in order to create more magic soldiers. When I was a vigilante I heard from someone that magic soldiers are limited in number. So based on rule 10 there's a good possibility that boys and girls are placed in the same dorm if they both wish for it. Rule 7 in all due likelihood is in all due likelihood to control the students-" the elevator stops and we get to our destination. The principal walks out and I follow behind
"Wait, what do you mean by 'control the students.'" (Principal)
"There is no outside witnesses other than the student council and either you or your husband. Meaning that in you and the student council could easily be in league with one another and falsify results easily. Just because you are the principal it doesn't mean that you'll announce the result correctly if you and the student council have an aligned goal. All the rule says is that the students will vote not that the ruling will be upheld, why would that be I wonder?"
"...You would doubt me?"
"I doubt everything you told me besides the rules I saw on that paper."
We get to a car.
"How very bold of you to say that to me."
After all, it's the only bit that is bound by magic so it's true in all due likelihood.
"Wel, Lily is next to us. She could easily use telepathy to tell you what I'm thinking so I may as well tell you everything that I think of this academy."
She enters the driver's seat and I enter the car on the backseat.
"You don't consider the possibility that I also have telepathy."
"Highly unlikely, if I think about it logically. In all due likelihood, Lily is the only one who can read minds."
"What makes you say that?"
I sigh.
"If everybody could use telepathy and forcefully read minds then you probably would be too annoyed to work with one another since you would know what someone thinks of you just by examining what's in their mind. You'd also be fearful of one another since you'd be afraid of getting your mind read by someone else, that's all there is to it. Anyway, I'm bored so I'll be taking a nap till we get there."
I close my eyes and lean against the car, however before I could go to sleep.
<Luis.> (Lily)
'What is it?'
<You said you got out by eating yourself, what does that mean.>
What is she...Oh, that.
'I used up every single nutrient I had in my body. Waited until my body ate itself and then forced my body to eat itself while healing, why?'
<...>
'I'm going to sleep, now shut up.'
<How rude!>
'Coming from the people that forced me to stay somewhere against my will and gave me small rations of poison food.'
<...You say that, but the poison didn't affect you.>
'That's because I'm immune to poison, I've never tested the extent of my immunity but I'd rather not. Now, shut up I'm going to sleep.'
I finally get a comfortable position and fall asleep. I wake up a while later to the sound of the Principal waking me up.
"Luis! We are here, welcome to the academy. Get out of the car, we're walking from the gates."
I look around and I see a massive campus along with a huge building. The building is mostly white and is about 100 meters away. This place is massive, I get out of the car and stretch. This actually looks pretty neat, almost like one of the magic high schools from anime.
I'm actually kind of pumped to see this place. But just in case, I expand my presence sensing right away. I don't sense many people around here, I guess it is pretty desolate, where would they go though? Whatever, I won't mind and just go with the Principal.
"So, what do you think of the place." (Principal)
It's pretty nice.
"I feel like it's a waste of taxpayer money. How did the government even explain where all these billions of dollars went?" (Luis)
Not that I'm complaining too much. This place looks great.
"...Not very sincere are we." (Principal)
"Neither are you while checking with Lily everything I say."
"I guess so, well. Lily, go prepare for your classes. "
"Alright."
"As for you Luis, you'll be keeping company for a little longer, we need to take care of some stuff."
"I would suspect that to be the case, you can't exactly leave me in the middle of nowhere without a proper explanation."
"But you didn't ask me before."
"It's not like I could ask you where I'll sleep, where classes are and where the training is while coming here."
"Mhhh...I guess not. Well, let's leave that for later. Right now, we'll be doing some testing."
"Testing? As in magical testing? You do realize that I'll definitely have the lowest grade no matter the subject due to my lack of knowledge, training, and experience right?"
"That's not the type of testing I was referring to."
"Then?"
"We are going to test your magic affinity."
I wonder if I am able to convey Luis' distrustful nature while having the plot go the way I want it to. Cause quite frankly I don't think so but this is the best I can do with my current writing abilities so might as well... That's all for this chapter, no special comments other than still being surprised by the sudden number increase.
