บท 2: Chapter Two: May we meet in Valhalla (Updated 1/2020)
Nothing happened during that night, but at 0545 the next morning all hell broke loose. The enemy began to launch mortars and sent artillery rounds at the entrance of the checkpoint. They heard enemy aircraft, but were unable to see where they were located. As the aircraft began their bombing run enemy trucks rushed to the entrance of the trench. Upon their arrival they unloaded men and bridge parts. As 3rd PLT began to open fire at the enemy while trying to take cover from the shells raining death upon their area they were only to put a small amount of fire on the enemy. The enemy was able to get the first bridge up and running within ten minutes.
At the same time the shelling stopped and this allowed 3rd PLT to put heavy fire back on the enemy. As Daniel saw this he radioed to 1st PLt, " Dragon 1-6 this is Dragon 6 Over, Go Ahead Dragon 6, Dragon 1-6 send your platoon to help the TOC relocate and set up defensive positions over, Roger 1st PLT Charlie Miking, Roger Dragon 6 Out."
After he sent 1st PLT to help the TOC he ran to the fight and took the place of the fallen soldier of the M240 Saw gunner. As he laid down suppressive fire he saw why the Russians changed their pace. Within the formations of the Russian Soldiers he saw Chinese soldiers mixed in with their troops.
As he thought, " So it seems the Chinese and Russians finally joined together and are pushing the European front instead of the Asian front. We've got to hold the line, but with this force we need to make it more to our advantage" enemy tanks began to cross the bridge that was created. As the soldier fired Javelins and Saw rockets in an attempt to disable and destroy the tanks the tanks took to a line formation to give cover as the enemy soldiers behind them worked to create more bridges. As the soldiers held the line more and more enemy troops began to cross the newly created bridges.
Over the radio Daniel heard Snow call over the radio relaying that initial reinforcements will make it within three hours via black-hawks. The rest of the ground forces are about eight hours away. As the enemy line continues to push Daniel begins to start ordering 3rd PLT to start backing away. " Stone send half your platoon to create quick defensive positions at the halfway point. I'll continue to stay here with the other half and slow them down as much as we can." Stone quickly ordered for Team B of 2nd squad and all of third squad to move and create defensive positions in the middle of the control point. As they continued to fire back for the next ten minutes the enemy finally arrived at the entrance. The tanks continued to fire control shots around the entrance to destroy our emplaced weapons and target areas they were blocked to allow the enemy forces to move through. As the enemy moved through Daniel ordered the rest of 3rd platoon to meet at the halfway point with Frost's troops to continue the defense.
As Daniel was rushing to the secondary defense point he heard more aircraft. Once he found a spot of cover he looked up to see that it was friendly air. He called up to the TOC and told them to relay information to their air units to attack targets at red smoke. After finishing his call he threw the smoke into the enemy formation and continued to advance to the secondary defense position. As he arrived the air-force came down for a bombing and strafing run knocking out 7 of the 9 tanks that arrived at the checkpoint entrance. After the strafing run was over Daniel peered over the sandbags and saw a sight he was all to familiar with. The enemy bodies were laying around with blood soaking the land their screams were prevalent over the sound of machine gun fire. After then the majority of the tanks were knocked out the battle came to a standstill with both sides not gaining or losing any ground. Both sides were losing men, but the enemy was taking more of a body count because of the vast number they have making it easy for the American troops to target them.
After a two hour standstill the Russians finally sent in their remaining tanks. As the tanks rushed towards their position Daniel order 3rd PLT to retreat back to the final defensive point.
As he held the line to allow 3rd PLT to retreat he looks back to see the black-hawks finally arrive and it seems they will take another 5 min to arrive at the defensive site. As he prepares to move he see a tanks point its turret right at him. He hurries and jumps to the prone position before the tank lets its shell loose. The shell went straight into the guard tower behind him. As the tower fell it blocked his only path of retreat. With enemies surrounding his flanks and his front and his rear is blocked by the fallen watch tower he thinks to himself " So this is how i die. At least the battle was glorious. Lets see how much more time I can give my brothers and sisters before i fall."
In the distance Snow saw what happened and began to issue orders over the radio to go help their commander. As Daniel was thinking he overheard the radio traffic and gave his finally order, " This is Dragon 6 to all units. Dragon 5 will hereby be taking command of the Company and all efforts to save me are hereby banned. Continue to the defense position and give the enemy hell. Dragon 5 I need mortar fire on my position. Dragon 6 out." As he finished his commands he put his M4 to burst fire and planned his attack. Knowing this will be his last fight he wanted to ensure he took out as many enemies as he could.
Taking out the C4 he had he planted two charges the charges on the two buildings beside. He strapped the final block of C4 in his cargo pocket. Once he confirmed everything was set he waited for the mortar rounds to assist him. As he heard the enemy nearing him the mortar rounds came. He stood up as the first round hit the ground 50 meters in front of him. He begins to shot as he runs towards the two tanks nearest to him. As he runs the enemy soldier begin to take aim at him, but they aren't able to hit him as the mortar rounds daze them from seeing clearly. As soon as Daniel reached the first tank he attached the C4 that was in his cargo pocket onto the tracks of the tank. After placing the C4 he runs to the next tank. As the tank turret begins to turn towards him he slides behind cover. As the enemy continues to advance to the final defense position by attempting to clear out the debris two enemy squads begin to advance towards his position. Holding the detonator in his hands he detonates the three C4 charges and then runs towards the final tank.
As he runs towards the tank the two buildings collapse and topple over crushing the enemy teams trying to clear the watch tower debris. The tank loses its track and catches on fire forcing the tank crew out of the tank. As this is happening he takes the grenade on his combat vest and pulled the pin. He quickly jumps onto the tank and grabs onto the gun barrel. He released the grenade safety and throws the grenade into the tank's gun barrel. As he rolls away the grenade then detonates destroying the tanks main gun. He quickly gets back up and is able to see the damage he has caused to the enemy. He smiles and he rushed towards the cover of a sandbag right behind him. As the enemy is in disarray he begins to fire his clip trying to aim for the leaders of the enemy soldiers. After taking down another 15 soldiers his clip runs dry.
He takes a moment to physic himself up before he rushed into his death. After taking a moment he pulls out his combat knife and rushes into the enemy lines. The enemy see him rushing at them and begin to fire. By the tie Daniel arrives at the enemy lines he has taken a total of 15 bullets 5 to his right shoulder, 4 to the chest and 6 to his legs, but he continues to run towards them. He stabs and slices at the enemy soldiers using his hand to hand combat training courtesy of the US Ranger school. He is able to kill another 6 soldiers before final having the strength in his body slowly leave him. As he falls to the ground he is surrounded by enemy soldiers. They are about to finish him off, but one of their leaders tells the troops to wait.
As the leader gets ready to speak Daniel was able to pull the grenade located on his back belt into his hands as he is laying on his back. He pulls the pin before the enemy even starts talking. " Ah we finally get to see the great Dragon himself before we slaughter him. While you gave our troops a hard earned victory it is still our victory. We shall now transport you back to our cells where we can finally torture you and find all the information we need to pass this accursed wall." As he finished his sentence Daniel just looked at him with a smile and then began to laugh. " What are you laughing at you fool." At that Daniel released the grenade safety and stares at the enemy before saying, " A Dead Man." With that said he rolled the grenade in front of him and took out another 8 soldiers to include a Company commander and injuring an unknown amount on the enemy side before Daniel final passed.
The Commander of the Demonic Dragons was finally slain, but not without inflicting even more injuries and death to the enemy. His sacrifice earned his company and fellow Brothers in Arms enough time for reinforcements to arrive and push the enemy armies back.
After the Enemy armies was pushed out Snow looked out over the battleground and sighed, " With his leadership the 190 souls we had we only lost 50, but the enemy lost a total of 3500 souls in this battle." As she continues to remember Daniel she almost begins to cry, " I never did tell him I loved him, but it's too late for regrets and we shall see each other once again in Valhalla."She lets out a tear before returning back to duty to prepare the Company for the next battle. Frost just stares at the enemy side before sighing and getting his unit ready to deploy into Russia to counter attack.
What seemed like an eternity the commander finally heard a voice. It was quite at first, but slowly become louder. He finally heard a sweet young voice calling out to him, " Wake up little one wake up" As he slowly looked around he saw that he was in space or at least that what he thinks. He begins to look around, but as he moves it feels like as whole being is moved. He finally notices he no longer has a body, but is still able to see, hear, and move.
As he continues to figure out his situation he hears that voice again.
"Well someone is finally awake. Hello their Daniel my name is Aiz. I am what your world calls Valkyrie and i have come to send you on your way, but to my surprise your soul did not want to continue on to Valhalla. For this I had to request the help of Odin to see where we are to send you".
As Daniel heard this he begins to think, " Well Lady Aiz this probably does not come as a surprise, but why am I here? I know you mean to send me on my way and it is unfortunate that I did not meet the requirements to enter Valhalla, but why are we in space?"
" First off Daniel you did meet all the requirements of Valhalla the valor, courage, and the ferocity you have shown in your final battle is a tale that will be told for many eons by your fellow brothers and sisters. The reason you are in this area that looks like space from your world is so we can preserve your soul until Odin decides where to place you."
As if on cue Odin projects his voice into the space, " Daniel the Demonic Dragon we would welcome you into our halls, but alas it is not meant to be. While we can not accept you into Valhalla or send you back to your world reborn we have found a world that we can send you to. The God there is facing a crisis. The balance of good and evil is tipping to fast for him to control and he has asked for our help. He has heard of your predicament and we have found a way to send your soul to be reborn into his world. When your soul is entered into the reincarnation cycle all your memories and knowledge will be wiped, but as a way to repay you for us not being able to allow you into the great halls of Valhalla we are able to ensure your military knowledge is kept. You might not remember the Valorous life you lived before, but the tactical and training knowledge you are learned and experienced will be returned to you slowly over the course of your new life. To be blunt as you read military books and train yourself you will quickly learn it that includes weapons you've trained on before to include your medieval weapons play. Are their any questions before I send you on your way?"
As Daniel takes in this information he smiles to himself and begins to speak, " I thank you for your efforts Lord Odin and Lady Aiz while i know i wasn't the purest of souls I thank you for this opportunity to continue doing some good for the world through my military exploits. While I might not remember who I was or this situation I do thank you for the opportunity and I will not fail in my mission to help protect the balance in this new world. Also let my brothers and sisters know that it is a shame I won't be able to dine and drink with them in Valhalla."
" That we shall; now off with you and let your new world hear about the Demonic Dragons and their tales"
As Odin commanded Daniel Soul was sucked into a black-hole and sent to be reincarnated in a world that wasn't unknown to him.
" Sigh I really wish he could have stayed in Valhalla the battles that would be fought would have been glorious" says Aiz as she look into the distance where Daniel disappeared.
" That it would my child, but where he's going he will be able to create a new story. We will also get to see it unfold as that was part of the bargain i struck with that God. Well he enjoyed Harry Potter in his last life before so let's see how his story unfolds in a world of magic." Odin laughs as he continues to drink from his throne in Asgard. Aiz continues to stare before she finally decides to head back to the feast hall in Asgard.
Odin then think to himself, " Lets see if he can recover his memories… I did leave him a way to retain them" Odin then bursts out in laughter.
