Knowing she can't avoid the question forever, she just decided to dive into the vast ocean and see whether she floats or drown. Smiling sheepishly at him, she tried to think of an appropriate answer. She can see shackles with heavy rocks around her leg while trying to stay afloat.
"How can i have fun when you're not around?" She said while playing with his tie.
"Oh..." And then he went silent. She was just about to feel relieve when another sentence from him made her feeling she's still not on the safe zone.
"Were you flirting with someone behind my back?"
"No.." She blurted out that answer, unable to hold her own tongue.
"Uh huh... Then tell me my dear wife, what did i see while i was waiting for you just now?" He gripped her chin gently so that he can see her unique eye. In contrast with his eye, it was pure black and for Lyla, she knew she would easily get mesmerize whenever she look into his eyes.
"Hubby, i wasn't flirting. I was trying to coax her because she was apologizing endlessly and it's attracting too much attention."
"Oh... and the fact that you kiss someone else behind my back?"
"..." How did he know? Did he plant some spy cam on my shirt or something? She was sure no one knows except that Samantha and Ethan. No one else. Then, how did he know? Unable to think a better answer she ends up pulling another trick just so he can quit asking her question that are sure sending her to death sentences. Instantly she hugged him and snuggled against his chest.
"I miss you." And that is her final weapon. Hearing him sighed as he tightened up his arm around her, she knew he will drop the subject. At this moment, it's too dangerous. The space is too tight, they're in a car and she doesn't have anywhere to run. This person is too scary.
Whenever she thought of the day she married him, it's still unbelievable to this day. This is the third time they met ever since they got married a year ago. Most of the time, he will spend his days in another city dealing with the endless projects, meetings and bla bla bla. He's being called King of the business world, the one who have Midas touch in everything he handles, the powerful businessman that conquers around the globe and the one whom people fear due to his ruthless way on dealing with his enemy. But surprisingly, not many know his face because according to her husband, "I'm just a businessman." thus meaning no photo of him or interview with him or any sort of advertisement to boost up his company. If you want to see him, make an appointment and better have a good proposal so he will look for you. That's according to him. But to Lyla, Dylan Wright is just her husband whom she barely knew because they were married not because of love, drug, drunk or anything. It was because he was sitting in her restaurant for quite sometime until they had to close. That day, she found out about Ethan's cheating and feeling stupid for believing there's actually love exists between them. Looking at Dylan who's just sitting there while twirling a beautiful ring. Without saying anything, she just put another cup of coffee in front of him and let herself sit on the opposite chair, ignoring the confused look on his face. She just continue working while sipping her own drink. They sat there for a long time and by the time she finished with everything, it's already 1.30 a.m. Looking up, she was startled because he's still there and staring at her. She just smiled.
"Let's get married." That's what he said when she was just about to ask him to leave because she need to locked the restaurant.
"What are you smiling at?" Dylan's gruff voice disturb her thoughts. Realizing she's still sitting on his lap, she tried to move away just so he could rest easily. But his arm lock her every move. She stares at him and smile.
"I still wonder why did i agree to marry you back then and why did you ask me to marry me?"
"I didn't." He answered. Leaving Lyla all confuse. Did i misunderstood him back then? If so, won't it be too late?
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"I didn't ask you to get married to me..." He paused, looking at Lyla's reaction.
"Oh...then are we getting divorce now?" Lyla try to ask casually. Somehow, her heart just don't feel good when she heard him saying that. I'm dumb. How could i misunderstood his word back then. Lyla start playing with his tie again, looking down. Dylan grab her chin again so they are eye to eye.
"I didn't ask you to get married to me but i didn't give you a chance to say no either." It took quite a while for Lyla to process his sentence. So, basically he doesn't give me a choice and doesn't care whether i agree or not. Why is it i'm feeling annoyed all of sudden. She glared at him which cause him to chuckle at her reaction. Trying to ignore the unfair feeling, she starts to relax again. Since this is their third time seeing each other after they got married, it's better to use this moment to understand him better. Maybe... If they can ever have a decent conversation.
"How long are you planning to stay this time?"
"5." Lyla jerked up and her eyes are filled with brightness.
"Five days? Really? That's great. Finally we can have time toget... Wait, 5 days, 5 p.m or 5 hours later?" Knowing Dylan by far, it's impossible for him to stay in one city for 5 days. Her happiness was short lived and it proves to be true.
"5 hours later." He said calmly, though he can detect her disappointment. Immediately, Lyla removed herself from his lap and just stay close to the window. Looking at the scenery just to calm herself. Dylan sighed. He knew she would be sad but he can't avoid it. He pulled her towards him again and locking her closely by his side. Kissing her forehead while apologizing. It's the only way he can do at the moment. Lyla just close her eyes and stop herself from blurting the things that she will regret saying later on. Next time then. Next time.
