บท 48: Return to the Abandoned Lands
Whoosh!
Exiting the warp gate, they entered another gate before finally arriving back in the Abandoned Lands. Looking around, the familiar military base filled with soldiers marching and training could be seen.
The two of them walked by as the gaze of the soldiers were on them. Wang Tao smiled when he saw them stare at him before calling at the Blackgold Python Tiger.
Whoosh!
A golden magic circle appeared in the air, as a large gold and black tiger appeared from within the magic circle. Wang Tao jumped on as he took flight leaving behind Ye Qin as well as the crowd.
Ye Qin shook his head as he called out the Qiulong.
Whoosh!
A large golden magic circle appeared while the roar of a dragon shook the very souls of the soldiers and their monsters. When it appeared in its chibi form, it stared at the soldiers before transforming as it coiled around Ye Qin.
The jaws of the soldiers all dropped to the ground when they saw a 20-meter long dragon not far from them. Some of them with snake-type monsters felt like kneeling when it had appeared.
Ye Qin patted its head as he jumped in the air and took flight to follow Wang Tao who had been long gone.
Flying for a bit, he caught up to his best friend as they headed straight forward.

Ye Qin and Wang Tao flew by the places that they had once been through, the monsters that were nearby were too scared to move when they passed through.
The two left them alone since they couldn't provide much xp for them and headed deeper into the Abandoned Lands.
After flying forward for two hours, they found a pack of wolf-type monsters. Each of the individual monsters was strong, being roughly around Level 30.

The pack in front of them had one leader, with dozens of its followers. Even though it was day time, they were out hunting.
Ye Qin and Wang Tao looked at each other and nodded. They flew in closer towards the pack and instantly attacked them.
The Dark Gray Wolf leader had long spotted them thanks to its strong sense of smell, but it couldn't do much but fight since it could feel the overwhelming pressure being exerted at it.
The Qiulong flew by and surrounded the pack of wolves with its large body, caging them in like a mouse in a mousetrap. The Blackgold Python Tiger shot a ball of ice into the center of the wolf pack instantly freezing them over.
The results of their training with the Peak Master were now showing. During their training, their monsters had Leveled up to 30. The Peak Master became more and more serious as they got stronger allowing them to level up faster and continue growing at a rapid pace.
The rate of their training far surpassed others, their growth rate of a few months was equivalent to other tamers spending almost a decade of training through regular means.
Since they were training in an irregular way, naturally their growth would improve rapidly, making their growth incomparable to others.
With a single blast of ice, the Dark Gray wolves all froze in place, only the leader of the pack could still show a reaction as it stared at Ye Qin and Wang Tao standing in the air.
Once the wolves were all frozen, the Qiulong shot out tiny energy beams at each individual Dark Gray Wolf. The ice was pierced through as the wolves all died instantly when the beams penetrated their heads.
However, he left one wolf remaining alive as Wang Tao let it run off without giving chase. When it had left, they looted the bodies of the Dark Gray wolves and stealthily followed the wolf that they let runoff.
They stayed in the air as they followed it, making sure that it didn't know that it was being followed. After a while, it stopped at a cave and looked around before heading inside.
Ye Qin and Wang Tao flew down close to the cave entrance and spoke, "So this is its den." Ye Qin said.
"This feels kind of cruel, but when we think about the past, others would say it's fair and that they deserve it." Wang Tao replied.
The two then jumped off and their monsters changed into their chibi forms as they headed inside the cave.
Step. Step.
The cave was dark, but they could still make their way through, by following the sound of flowing water along the side of the cave walls that occasionally dripped.
Passing through the cave, the two of them began to see light across the other side and followed it all the way. When they entered, they could hear the sounds of hundreds of Dark Gray wolves in front of them.
Grrrr. Grrrr.
The sound of growling could be heard. It was obvious that the Dark Gray Wolves knew of their entry when the wolf they had let off returned.
Looking ahead, they could see a large wolf being surrounded by many other wolves which were obviously the leaders of each pack. Beneath them, were hundreds and hundreds of Dark Gray wolves, waiting for their king's orders to hunt.
Surprisingly, the space around them was spacious. Though it didn't allow his dragons to transform, the problem would be solved if he summoned all seven of them.
Grrr. Grrr.

The Dark Gray Wolf King sensed danger coming from the two humans in front of it as it growled and sent its army to attack them.
Grrr.
The hundreds of Dark Gray wolves charged at the two brothers like a waterfall.
Poof!
The Blackgold Python Tiger transformed and roared before dashing into the crowd of wolves. In front of Ye Qin, six magic circles of various colors were called out at the same time.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The six remaining dragons all appeared from his Monster Sea at once, as they let out a heaven shaking and earth-shattering roar!
The six dragons appeared together and joined the Qiulong as they all flew towards the army of Dark Gray wolves together. Ye Qin and Wang Tao stood back and the entrance, away from harm's way, as they watched the battle unfold.
Grr. Grr.
Two of the dragons penetrated the air, and slammed into the bodies of dozens of Dark Gray wolves at once, sending them flying. As for the ones in front that took the attacks head-on, their bodies were pierced through, leaving large holes in their torso's as flesh and blood were all that were left behind.
The remaining five, which were much weaker than the Qiulong and Yinglong couldn't pierce through the bodies of the Dark Gray wolves, but they could still send them flying far back into their comrades.
The seven dragons worked together perfectly, to lead the Dark Gray wolves into one spot, making it easy for them to be cleared out more easily.
Once the Dark Gray wolves were all in one spot, the seven dragons came together to create a ball of energy that contained all seven of their powers into one attack. Wang Tao's Blackgold Python Tiger froze them so that they couldn't escape, while he dealt with a group of his own.
Whoosh!
The energy of all seven dragons combined into one, created a large rainbow-colored ball of energy. The energy ball swished through the air and exploded onto the frozen bodies of the Dark Gray wolves.
Boom!
Awhoo!
The dozens of Dark Gray wolves were all vaporized by the combined power of the seven dragons. Even without using their full power, their combined might is more than enough to take out such monsters.
Once the Dark Gray wolves were all killed, the leaders of each pack growled and glared at their enemies. Knowing that they were no match, the Dark Gray wolves didn't move forward and could only watch their comrades be destroyed.
The Dark Gray Wolf King got up on all fours when it saw how easily the two had killed its minions.
Awhoo!
Grwww!
When the Dark Gray Wolf King growled, the other wolves howled in unison. The king along with its retainers all dashed towards the seven dragons and the Blackgold Python Tiger without fearing for their lives.
It was a kill or be killed situation for them. Even if they couldn't take out all of them, if they could kill even a few of their enemies, they would be able to die in peace.
The Blackgold Python Tiger moved its paw and gently tapped it into the ground. Instantly, blocks of ice formed and headed towards the Dark Gray wolves.
Roar!
The Dark Gray Wolf King roared with all its might, which shattered the ice blocks that headed for itself. The Blackgold Python Tiger stepped onto the ground again, using even more power than previously.
Roar!
This time, the Dark Gray Wolf King's roar only managed to make little cracks in the ice, and couldn't shatter it. The Dark Gray wolves by its side all roared with their leader, before they could finally shatter parts of the ice that came for them.
The seven dragons floated above the wolves and stared down at them with disdain, as though they were looking at an inferior race.
The dragons all shot tiny beams of energy at the Dark Gray wolves. The bombardment of small beams that were each like tiny bombs that exploded on impact, greatly hurt the wolves.
The wolves were all attacked from two different directions, making it impossible to even move, less even attack or defend against their enemies.
"It's over." Wang Tao said, as a large block of ice instantly froze the dozen of the remaining wolves. Inside the ice block, the Dark Gray Wolf King could still move its pupils slightly, it glared at the two humans that it had previously thought would just be prey for its pack.
The prey had become the hunter, and the hunter had become the prey. It was truly a great reversal. The Dark Gray Wolf King stared at the two humans for a while, before struggling as much as it could, in order to close its own eyelids.
Crack. Crack.
The ice around its eyes cracked enough, that it would be able to move its eyes freely. The Dark Gray Wolf King closed its eyes and looked peaceful as it awaited its own death.
It was as if it were proud that it could die in their hands.
Crack! Crack!
The huge ice block shattered into a million pieces, as a sound that reminded someone of broken glass, resounded throughout the cave.
Ding! Ding!

[Fire dragon has leveled up]
[Ice dragon has leveled up]
[Wood dragon has leveled up]

Ye Qin constantly received an endless amount of notifications from the system, as his five dragons leveled up, from defeating enemies that were higher level.
Unfortunately, the xp gained for the Qiulong and Yinglong only moved their xp up by a small fraction.
Since all the Dark Gray wolves had been shattered into countless pieces, they didn't leave anything behind. The only things that Ye Qin and Wang Tao could take from them, were the bones and hide of other monsters that the wolves had preyed on in the past.
After looting the cave, they burnt out all the lights that seemed to be powered by a mysterious source. Leaving the cave, the two were satisfied with their gains and took flight in another direction, in order to continue their journey.
