It was a normal school day. She was sitting at her desk with no expression. It seemed like another boring day at Crystal Academy. Her older brother was next to her in his desk, also staring into space. Her desk was in the back by the window. The sun hit her face and reflected her dark brown locks. It was quiet, very quiet. Nothing new, her life was always boring. Even though her father was the headmaster, she didn't seem to care. Other girls were always trying to be her friend, but she wants to be alone. If she was to make friends, she would want it to be for her personality, not for her status. The girls eventually stopped, but the guys didn't.
Once a week at least, she was confessed to. She stands silent and waits for them to leave. After they do, she throws their letter away and forgets about it. Every guy wants her for her looks. Besides being the headmasters daughter and smartest girl in school, she is also the prettiest. Her long black hair and perfectly shaped dark eyes make her look like a goddess sent from the heavens. All the boys were all over her, but her brother is always there to help her with them. Brian, her brother, is the hottest guy at the academy. All the girls were all over him, just like Prue and the guys. Neither of them liked any of them. They always had each other's back, no matter what. Someday Brian would take over as headmaster and Prue would be a teacher there. Their futures were already planned out by their father. Long ago their mother died, but she would have wanted them to be happy. Their care about happiness, just power and status.
It was another boring day in class. She always sat in the back of the classroom by the window. The light warmed her skin as she took down notes. She loved the feeling of the soft breeze hit her through the small opening in the window. Outside the birds sing in the cherry blossom trees. The pink petals fall creating an atmosphere of beauty. It was the very end of class and Brian and Prue had been called to their father's office.
The two of them walked down the hall like royalty. Everyone around them gossiped at they strutted down the hall. Either of their faces ever showed emotions. All they ever showed was a poker face. When they reached their father's office, they stopped and Brian knocked.
"Enter." The headmaster called from inside.
On the inside, her father's voice shook her. It was cold and deep. Scarier than a horror movie. Only because she knows that if she does the slightest thing to make him angry, she would pay at home, same with Brian. They learned soon enough, not to make him mad and obey his every command.
They walked into the room perfectly and stood in front of his desk. Their father always had the look of a devil. His eyes were dark brown, almost looked red, and he always wore a stare from hell. It always made the other student tremble.
"You needed us headmaster?" Prue said in an obedient voice.
The headmaster looked up and smiled. Every time his smile looked innocent, he was up to something. He stood up and walked to Prue. She silently clenched her fists and bit her tongue as he neared. He raised his hand and she flinched her head. He smiled and caressed his hair innocently.
He then went back to his desk and sat down. Putting back on his evil glare, he folded his arms and looked at them.
"We have a student. He is the son of William Derek. His name is Marcus and I need one of you to show him around. Make sure he's happy, his father could ruin us if wanted, if he decides to, one of you will be punished." Their father said smiling evilly.
Prue's and Brian's hearts began to speed up. Whenever their father said 'punish', they froze. His punishments always meant severe torture. For Brian, it is much worse, because he is a man. Prue got small things like being slapped or even beat until she stopped moving. This is why the school has to wear long sleeves. Both of them have bruises up and down their arms.
The headmaster looked at Prue and smiled. Brian would always try to do anything in his power to keep Prue safe, even though he is only a year older. He felt mother would have wanted it to be his job to keep her safe.
"Brian, you may leave. Prue, you can do it, he will be here in ten minutes. Meet him outside." their father said standing up.
"Yes, headmaster!" They said bowing and turning around.
Brian and Prue left the room and slowly shut the door behind them. Both of them let out a sigh as after the door shut. Looking at each other, they nodded and walked their separate ways. Brian went back to his class and Prue walked outside.
When she got outside, she could feel the warm breeze caress her skin. The hot sun warmed her body little by little. The cherry blossom petals flew into her hair as it flowed in the wind. She looked up and closed her eyes. It was moments like this where she could be as carefree as she wanted. From across the academy yard, she could hear a car park. She looked at it and it was a fancy car, not unusual. This was Crystal Academy, the richest academy in the country. It was meant for only the richest of the richest. No peasant could ever set foot on the premises. The chauffeur opened the back door and bowed as a boy walked out. The boy stepped out of the car and walked up to Prue. She bowed as he stopped and she put on a fake smile.
"Marcus Derek, welcome to Crystal Academy. Please come with me." Prue said as she looked at him then turned around.
As she began walking, she couldn't hear him following her. She then turned around and he was still in the doorway. She sighed, clenched her teeth, and turned around. Walking to him, she saw the look on his face. It was of loneliness and sadness. She paused before walking any closer. Realizing how he feels, she looked down and let go of her fists.
"Look, I know how you feel. I too am forced to do things that I'd rather not, if you'd like, you can stick with me and I can help." She said looking up at him.
He had a bruise over his left eye and there was a big cut across his right. Prue felt his pain, being abused and not being able to live your own life. He looked away with a glare, then looked at her. His galre stayed but he walked with her. Not saying a word, they walked through the school. They made a small connection that day.
