Damien had never been a fan of working with companies that connections to the underbelly of this world. He knew that there were some inevitabilities, but he preferred to reduce the overall amount of times that he directly interacted with the criminal side of this world. Artemis had a knack for looking in the right place and finding the right information when Damien needed it. He did not suspect her of anything as he already believed that she was outright special.
"Sir, Mr. Abrams is ready at the shooting range if Sir and Young Miss would like to head over?" Alfred politely informed them.
"Thank you, Alfred. Let's head over then Artemis! I want to see if you can learn to shoot well also!" Damien was psyched. Damien grew up without parents for the most of his life, and he hadn't had the opportunity or the luxury to shoot a gun. Luckily, he had also never been at gunpoint his whole life.
"Okay!" Artemis agreed. While she was only 13, she was eager to learn new things. Her life had been sheltered for the most part and learning self defense was never a bad thing. All three of them headed over to the newly built shooting range where they would get to try out all sorts of different weapons that Damien had acquired. While he didn't have a license to purchase them, his head of security did. John Abrams was also a certified trainer for shooting. Having learned all that the army could teach him back when he served, he was the best qualified teacher that money could buy. Damien had re-vetted everyone that worked for him after the incident previously with Chris.
"Hey John! Thank you for taking time out of your day to teach us!" Artemis cheerfully greeted their instructor.
"Of course, Young Miss. It is my duty and pleasure," John replied. He had prepared several different weapons for today's lesson. "Sir, you can take the first pick."
Damien glanced at the weapons and decided to start with the one of that looked the easiest, a pistol. He replied, "How about we start with the pistol?"
"A Glock 45. Good first choice, Sir," John commended him. The weapons he had selected were all weapons that John had used personally. "When you shoot at a range, we need to first talk about safety. Do you see the gear next to the guns? Noise reducing ear protection, glare reduction glasses and gloves are essential when using a gun for the first time."
"Is this much safety necessary when firing a gun? Won't I not have this gear when I am in a situation where I need to use a gun? If that is the case, then why do we practice with this much protective gear?" Artemis was truly curious. It seemed like overkill considering a scenario where they would actually use this skill would not be one where they would have so much protective gear. It would be a situation where they would have no choice but to use it to protect themselves and not worry about how many pieces of protective gear they would be using.
