Several years after the squabble at the home of Sheng Jinzhe, Zhu Na was barred from going there, while Sheng Liena was harshly scolded by her father and grandmother. That created much tension between Sheng Jinzhe and his daughter, even his relationship with his girlfriend turned sour.

The years hadn't been all bad for the Shengs, as Sheng Liena graduated with an overall score of 83% which is equivalent to a 3.5 GPA as a second class upper, which meant that she had an academic achievement that was marketable and favorably looked on by employers in the job market. Not that she was going about looking for a job, because right from university her father had begun grooming her to take up the position of clinical research director at Sheng Pharmaceuticals.
