Trivia? You just robbed us of our rights and lands, yet you said it was trivia.
For some nobles, the guilty one, they could only grit their teeth and grumbled, they once thought to join the new emerging empire and cling on the success of this man to further their power and wealth.
Past is gone, some were senator of Ramale republic, some were city lord in one of the Commonwealth and some were the noble who defected to join David during his subjugation of 16 kingdoms.
They once believed that they chose the right side of this great game, perhaps they were wrong, perhaps.
Solo looked back to the crowd of noble, although he was proud of his intellect in reading human he knew that David was better than him but for this situation, even the stupid one would know how hard those noble felt now.
"You still survived with your head on your neck and a fortune enough to last for your life living idly, isn't that enough?" Solo believed.
Looking that way, their decision at that time was not wrong.
Some nobles almost wanted to crawl and scream, if they knew this would happen they would not come to the capital.

Although, the choice of choosing an heir and adjusted the government within the land were for the noble responsible for that domain. However, by the law, the emperor had the power to discard and transform domains as he saw fit in the first place.
The emperor would just label them as an incompetent, if they just reside in their manor and refuse to join the noble's assembly that requires all noble in the posts to participate and only opened once a month on monthly basis, unlike normal officer meeting that did not require irrelevant noble to participated would be opened regularly on Monday Wednesday and Friday.
The noble's assembly must be attained by either the head or heir of the noble family, refusing could result in a capital offense punishable by only the death penalty.
Crimes that would punishable by death sentence varied from state to state in Noseth. In old Ramale republic would be for any republic general or client state king of first degree crossing the river near the capital with an army, well in the history of Ramale republic only one person did it and somehow he changed the republic into an empire.
For the Sacred Ramale empire, except Les'majeste offense, the capital offense would fell on some occasion; having more than determined number of personal force, the castle and city wall size and etc..
However, most could be negotiable if the situation needed for adjustment. You could not rule with just iron fist, some leeway must be given but not too much.
But what they could not negotiate was that the nobles must fulfill the required condition that wanted the head and children of decent ages from each noble families to be under the system of alternative residence in the capital for a year or two if need.
Since the coronation was on the first month of the year, all noble families were ordered to attain the coronation ceremony, that's why many of them still resided in the capital to observed overall situation for a year, mostly those with hidden agenda or those driven with personal ambition and gains, though.
Some nobles who always took his job at his domain and worked seriously would go back to their domain as soon as the ceremony finished, maybe lingered for a month but most of them should go back by now. Those noble tend to be worry of their people well being and law enforcement of their land, in short, they were capable lords.
Useful lords were still in need for the future, they should be left alive, as long as they leave hostage in the capital and came to change shift in designated time. Whether it would be for a while or forever depending on the future circumstances.
As for those that stayed and tried to pry into the palace or David's close circle?
This was the trap laid by David and Solo, to first get rid of the annoying pests that loved the political scheme, a fly could not restrain themselves from eating filth anyway.
For the capable noble, they would find another way to reduce those people power later, for now just having a hostage was enough to keep those useable nobles in check.
In only short six months needed to gather evidence, solidify David's regime and for the soldier to rest, now that everything was finished preparing. the path of David's dynasty absolute monarchy would start now.
Noble, The church, The magicians' sects, and various influence guilds, all must fully submit to the rule of supreme ruler.
"Solo please brief everyone here about our main topic for today." David said
"Yes, Your Majesty." Solo accepted and took up the role.
"Everybody, I believe that you have seen or at least heard about magician bureau right?" Solo said and without waiting for the answer he continued.
"We have given them a lot of benefits if they agree to the term. Many of them agree, and that is good. However, my friends, there is a little problem arise. Some still deny to be registered under the government, could we turn a blind eye to them?" Solo turned to the side of the officer as he asked.
"No!" "No!" "No!" Sounds came from the bureaucrat side and even the military officers, who were ranked high enough to represent in the hall.
In Sacred Ramale Empire, the military force was under the directed rule of the emperor and would not meddle with politic, only those with high ranked would represent in the hall but they could not be brought any force into the capital vicinity. An irony law by the one who usurps the old republic.
The situation began to stir, the quiet hall began to turn noisy as many people stated their opinion. If heard carefully, some bureaucrat even told to punish those magicians with death.
"CALM DOWN!" David said and all began to quiet again.
"My servants, they may need to be punished but love and compassion are necessities, not needless cruelty. Without them, humanity cannot survive."
Another quote from David world, words of a certain monk, was used.
When David said this, some of those, going to be ex-nobles, confused and thought "Love and compassion? Give that to me too."
But they would change their thought immediately after David said the next sentence.
"You may call me a hypocrite but I would love for them to live quietly in my empire happily. YES, QUIETLY!" David paused, almost everyone in the hall gulped, they could anticipate what would come next but the tension still there.
