Everybody was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the enemy's main force, heavy breathing could be heard echoing through the helmets. The blimp inched closer following the forest path, while lowering it's altitude to match the treeline as if surveying the path.
" Just a bit more...a little more... closer...CROSSBOWS FIRE AT THAT BLIMP!" Yelled Commander Alfa at the front gates.
The blimp had finally reached the range of our defensive cross bows. A torrential rain hitting the blimp and taking it down almost instantaneously.
Commander Alfa smirked as he turned back to face me. "Today we have a better chance of survival because I am here!" he said with a hearty laughter.
Shots were echoing in the distance. I looked to the sky to see only one green flare has been fired, "...two green flares...third one! Where is the last green flare?!" I was getting worried at what has happened. Three of the musketeers has arrived back at camp.
Anxiously waiting for the final flare I asked, "What happened to the last berserker? Why is there no flare?" The tallest of the three pointed to the woods and replied in a calm tone: "There has not been a sighting of the fourth berserker. Three Berserkers at the front are dead. But you have the best marksman out there, General." A single shot rang out with a red and green flare simultaneously being fired. "I told you, General. I believe he did not want to give away his location with the red flare and jeopardise the mission and the rest of the army!" He was wearing a huge and proud smile as he reported the situation.
"Thank you! Get some rest." I was relieved the berserkers were taken out. But the next fight would really be the fiercest. A clash to fight for control.
The first Phalanx has just entered the narrow pass into the observation range. When a messenger came in from the mountain pass. A message from Captain Kelvin with regards to the enemy's support line. "Support has been eliminated. Converging on enemy point. On Schedule."
"FIRE the trebuchets! Cannons ready! Four Hundred Meters! Southern Forest Pass!" I yelled as loudly and clearly as I possibly could.
The Dark Siders were getting pummelled hard by the projectiles. Numbers were quickly dwindling. Our crossbows started picking off the enemy.
"Damn Devin, I think we might have the lowest casualty count today." Commander Alfa said as he turned to me, giving me a victory sign with his left hand.
