บท 4: Chapter 3: A New World
¿¿¿: "So a kiss from you awakened her hidden power?"
¿?: "Yes but even then I still do not know where this other one surfaced from."
¿¿¿: "And she used that mysterious new power to destroy the entire universe. Either way this hinders nothing."
¿?: "Indeed, she has already created another universe. However she is still not ready yet."
¿¿¿: "Not nearly, though we are one step closer now."
¿?: "If you count her creating another universe and sealing herself as a step closer to our goal then you are an idiot."
¿¿¿: "This coming from the alien who had trouble learning to speak english for 17 years."
¿?: "I could end your pathetic existence right here you know."
¿¿¿: ...
¿?: "Much better; I have an idea on how we can awaken Emilia."
¿¿¿: "Oh and how will you do that?"
¿?: "We will use your daughter of course."
¿¿¿: "Hmm, not a bad idea."
¿?: "Let's go into this new universe then."
{Ruby's POV}
Ruby: "Where am I.. I can't see anything."
I don't know where I am, I don't know who I am. There is nothing but pure darkness here. I'm alone in this empty void, not knowing how I got here or if I'm even supposed to be here.
Ruby: "Is anybody here, anyone!"
I heard nothing but an echo of my voice from what I yelled out.
Ruby: "Fuck where am I!"
???: "You kiss your mother with that mouth?"
A voice spoke to me in response to what I said. I look around only to see that nobody was here with me in this pitch black space of nothing.
Ruby: "That's weird I thought I heard someone. Am I already going crazy."
???: "I'm within you so you're not going crazy. You took centuries to wake up y'know, well you did die after all."
Ruby: "I died? What the hell are you talking about and who are you!"
???: "You can call me Selene. You seem to be confused, You don't remember anything?"
Ruby: "Am I suppose to?
Selene: "Hmm, well long ago our entire universe was obliterated by your sister after your death. Which is why there is nothing here, nothing but an endless darkness, at least where we are."
Ruby: "I have a sister? And she's the cause of this unending darkness?"
Selene: "Yes and yes. But your sister has already created a universe of her own."
Ruby: "All of what you're telling me seems unbelievable."
Selene: "Whether you choose to believe me or not is none of my concern. I can bring you to that new universe."
Ruby: "You can do that?"
Selene: "Yes but first I must give you this."
A bright light appeared in front of me shining radiantly. Within the light a symbol manifested. It's appearance looked exactly like a Yin symbol of a Yin Yang but without it's other half, I don't know how I know that but black aura was emanating from it. Why does this voice want to give me something brimming with so much dark energy, I'm scared.
Selene: "Don't be afraid Ruby. Once you absorb it's power you will feel much more better. Now reach out and grab the symbol to become the next yin."
She called me Ruby, that must have been the name I was given when I was alive, was I some sort of gem or something? I wish I knew more about my past. Scared and reluctant I reach out for the yin symbol and attempt to grab it. All of it's power came rushing inside me the instant I made contact. The yin mark appeared on my chest. At first I had trouble breathing but after a few seconds I felt amazing. This mass of energy now flowing within me didn't feel completely dark, it felt warm and loving.
Selene: "See, you feel much better now don't you?"
Ruby: "Yes I feel great, thank you!"
After a few minutes of testing out my abilities a portal opened in front me. I lean in to look at what lies beyond. I saw a blue sky with a bunch of clouds.
Selene: "What lies beyond this portal is your new home planet. Once you enter that world things will start to change, it will not be noticeable at first but just be aware. You will need to find your yang partner, the two of you can't be apart for longer then 4 years."
Ruby: "What would happen if I were away from my yang partner for longer then that time?"
Selene: "Cosmic consequences will begin to occur, throwing off the law and balance of that new universe. The yin power from within you will run rampant, eventually consuming your soul."
Ruby: "So wouldn't it be better if I stay here instead?"
Selene: "No, you have a mortal body now so if you stay here you'll die within 5 days. Plus even if you did manage to stay here forever eventually you will fade out of existence, cursing your yang partner with despair for eternity."
Ruby: "Oh... Well I guess 4 years is more then enough time."
Selene: "Good luck"
Ruby: "I have one last question that needs answering before I go."
Selene: "You may ask"
Ruby: "How am I live, didn't I die?"
Selene: "Before our universe was destroyed I chose to be within your body and use a barrier spell to protect us from being obliterated. After that I immediately began making you a new body which took a few weeks."
Ruby: "I'm assuming after you put my soul in this new body you made I was in a slumber state for centuries."
Selene: "Yep"
Ruby: "Wow, I appreciate all that you have done for me Selene. Thanks again."
Selene: "You're welcome Ruby, now go."
I take a deep breath and exhale. I leap through the portal and dive through the clouds. The nice wind kissing my cheeks felt awesome, it was like I had wings and I was soaring through the sky. As I'm falling down at high speed I think to myself, if I'm descending like a bullet how will I stick the landing? I begin to panic, getting closer and closer to the ground I try flapping my arms up and down like a bird to slow myself down but it did not seem to work. I didn't know what to do other than accept me face planting the ground. I see ruined buildings below getting closer by the second. "This is going to hurt like hell." I crash land into the ground creating an insanely wide hole. "I am never.. doing that again..."
[3 hours later]
I wake up on a bed inside a tent. A woman with black and red hair and sliver eyes was sitting beside me reading a book. I get up slowly to sit up, the blanket covering me fell down my chest.
Ruby: "Um, why am I naked?"
????: "I was checking for wounds, you did fall from the sky."
Ruby: "Oh yeah I did. Wait a minute who are you and where am I?
????: "My name is Summer Rose, I'm a huntress from beacon. I was going to investigate the grimm activity within Mountain Glenn but you obliterated everything by crashing into the ground like some sort of meteor."
Ruby: "Oh yeah, sorry about that."
Summer: "It's fine I didn't get hurt. Although I wasn't able to investigate anything at least all of the Grimm within Mountain Glenn were destroyed. I count that as a win."
Ruby: "See something good came out of it, now where are my clothes?"
She went under the bed and took out a large bag. She unzipped the large bag and took my clothes out. I take them and begin to put everything on.
Summer: "Where is your team?"
Ruby: "My team? What do you mean?"
Summer: "A team in whi-.. wait you don't have a team?"
Ruby: "No I do not. Is that important here in this world?"
Summer: "Well yeah unless you have silver eyes like me. But your eye color is red so I'm a bit confused here."
I shrug, suddenly a weird noise was emanating from her pocket. She takes out a small rectangular shaped object from her pocket and positioned it on her left ear.
Summer: "Wow nice timing Raven I was about to call you."
Ruby: "Summer what is that?"
Summer: "It's a scroll genius, hold on give me a minute."
As Summer continues to talk to that scroll object I walk out of the tent. Turns out she made camp next to the huge hole I created earlier. I wonder what planet Selene brought me into. I have not heard her speak since I entered this world. I look up at the night sky, "I'm alive somehow, I was so scared of dying my powers went off and soften the impact of my fall but erased an entire mountain in the process. I guess I'm afraid of heights, What should I do now Selene?"
I waited for a response but she never answered. Summer poked me to get my attention.
Summer: "Do you have a place to sleep?"
I shake my head, I have only just entered this world so I have no place to call home yet. I begin to realize that I don't know where to start looking for my yang partner.
Summer: "I'm heading back to Beacon Academy to give Ozpin my report. You should come with."
Ruby: "I'm new here, I'll just be a bother."
Summer: "Nooo it'll be fine."
Ruby: "Are you sure?"
Summer: "Yeah absolutely!"
After hearing that I couldn't help but smile, this woman just met me today yet she is being so kind.
Summer: "By the way you never told me your name?"
Ruby: "It's Ruby"
Summer: "Your last name isn't Rose is it?"
Ruby: "Could be but I don't remember my last name."
A red portal appeared behind her. Without thinking I got into a fighting stance. Summer grabbed both of my hands and brought them down.
Summer: "Relax, it's just a portal going to beacon."
I did just that and we walked through it. We were inside a room with no windows, I felt like I was walking into a torture room.
Ruby: "Um, where are we?"
Summer: "A basement under beacon academy, we use it for very top secret meetings."
Ruby: "Then why am I here?"
Summer: "My mission report is about you so I need to bring you along for questioning, though I won't be the one questioning you."
As we were walking and talking I see 3 other people sitting down in front of us. Summer quickly jumps onto the woman in red and gave her a hug. The woman she hugged merely stood there with an emotionless expression on her face.
???: "We saw each other 3 days ago."
Summer: "I know I know but I can't help but do this everytime I come back from a mission."
?: "Who is the young lady over there?"
Summer: "Oh right!"
She moved away from the woman in red and took a piece of paper out from her bag. She then gave it to the man with silver hair and stood next to me.
Summer: "I should have introduced you before jumping onto my bestie."
????: "You can do that now while oz is reading your mission report."
Summer: "Oh my he lives! That half asleep man who just spoke is Qrow Branwen. He may look a bit sketchy but he's actually a good guy."
Qrow: "Welco- wait what?"
Summer: "The woman on the left is my bestie Raven Branwen."
Raven: "Nice to meet you."
I gave a feint smile and hid behind Summer. I wanted to speak but words wouldn't come out. I feel nervous but I don't know why.
Summer: "What's wrong, are you okay?"
I try to talk but yet again no words would come out. I was fine with Summer but why the hell not with these 3 people. Both Branwens looked at one another in confusion. I nod in response to what Summer asked me. Just as she was about to continue introducing me to her friends I turn away from them and walk away. I didn't feel right, I don't think it's because I feel nervous, it's like something was trying to keep me from speaking. I was freaking out.
Raven: "Qrow did you do something to this poor young girl?"
Qrow: "I did nothing, I don't even know who she is."
Raven: "And here I thought my brother would be a decent man for once."
?: "Wait"
The talking halted, I stop myself from walking any further but chose to keep my back toward them.
?: "In your mind you are probably thinking we will treat you like a monster. You don't need to worry, we will do no such thing nor will we think of you like one."
I felt such relief when he said those words. Summer suddenly grabbed my arm and gently pulled me into her arms to hug me.
Summer: "It's okay, you don't have to be afraid, we're friends now Ruby."
Friends huh, I don't understand the meaning of that word yet it feels reassuring to hear it. I move away from her and let out a smile, I turn my gaze to the silver haired man.
Ruby: "Oz was it?"
?: "For short yes, most call me Ozpin."
While bowing I say "Well it is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Ozpin."
Raven: "How elegant, almost like a Schnee."
Ruby: "Is that some kind of food?"
Qrow: "Depends on th-"
Summer: "Shut up Qrow"
Not another word was uttered from him.
Ozpin: "I would like to ask you a few questions Ms. Ruby."
Ruby: "Ask away."
Ozpin: "Do you remember anything before your fall?"
I began to think, should I answer truthfully or lie and say I don't remember anything. Hmm...
Ruby: "I doubt you would believe me if I told you."
Ozpin: "Stranger things have happened, try us."
I guess I'll be telling the truth, maybe they can help me. I take a deep breath and exhale slowly. The mark on my chest began glowing through my clothes,
Ruby: "I was asleep for a very long time, a voice from within me gave me a body and powers. It chose me to bare the fate of a Yin, right before the end."
Ozpin: "Does this voice have a name?"
Ruby: "Yes it's Selene"
Ozpin: "Is selene here with you now?"
Ruby: "No, she hasn't uttered a single word since I entered this world."
Ozpin: "You said it chose you right before the end, what did you mean by that?"
Ruby: "My world or rather the entire universe I was born in was completely obliterated by my sister. Before all was destroyed, Selene used her powers to protect my soul from obliteration and well.. y'know the rest from there. I have no memories up until waking up in that pitch black darkness."
Ozpin: "So you were saved by a voice calling itself Selene, it gave you a new body, and bestowed upon you immense power along with the fate of a yin."
Qrow: "Didn't expect to hear something like that."
Raven: "Same here"
Ruby: "It's okay if none of you believe me. I mean if I were hearing this for the first time I wouldn't believe it either."
Summer poked my hips to fluster me. I turn around and see her smiling.
Summer: "We believe you."
I tilt my head left slightly,
Ruby: "Uh... What?"
Summer: "Yep we believe you, not the first crazy thing we've heard. Isn't that right Oz."
Ozpin: "Indeed it is not. Before I tell you anything I would like to test your power in combat."
I felt my heart rate speed up after hearing that but it wasn't out of being nervous, in fact it's because I'm excited.
Ruby: "Right now?"
Ozpin: "Yes, it's a suitable time."
Ruby: "Okay, so which one of you will I fight against?"
Ozpin: "You will spar against Qrow."
Without saying a single word Qrow pointed at himself in surprise.
Qrow: "Me.... seriously?"
Ozpin: "I've never been more serious, do not hold back."
Summer: "Wait hold on slow your roll, Ruby doesn't have a weapon. Why are you even suggesting this Oz?"
I let out a grin and put my hand on Summer's shoulder,
Ruby: "I'll be fine without one."
Summer: "Oh okay"
She went and sat next to Raven with an excited look on her face.
Qrow: "I guess it can't be helped.
Qrow stood up from his seat and we moved away from the other 3.
Ozpin: "There is only one rule in this bout, once your aura is depleted you lose."
Qrow took his weapon out, it's appearance went from looking like a regular blade to transforming into a scythe, it looked so cool. I take a deep breath and slowly exhale, the mark on my chest began to glow again. I adjust my gloves and get into a fighting stance.
Raven: "This should be interesting to watch."
Ozpin: "You may begin."
