"What?" Dorothy Lint had no idea what this stranger was saying.
Change their lives for the better? Who will?
If not for the fact that he was brought back by her daughter, then she would have thought that he was some lunatic who barged into the house!
Rachel slapped her forehead in frustration once again before pulling Kyle behind her, "Let's talk about this in my room."
Hearing this, the other members of the family immediately turned solemn, understanding the meaning behind her words.
While their Pierce Third Branch Family was not exactly the most influential of families, they were still part of the nobility circle, and thus it was inevitable that some other families had planted spies among their servants. They might not be sure about powers, but they knew for a fact that at least the Pierce Main Family had done so in order to make sure they remained under control.
By speaking in the front hall, they risked any confidential information being leaked out of the family, and that was why all important matters were discussed in their rooms where they could control the servants' access.
Of the servants, Old Will was the only one who had unrestricted access to the back area of the residence where the members of the Pierce Third Branch Family stayed. Thus this allowed the rooms to be safe from the eyes and ears of any spies.
But even after they finally gathered in Rachel's room, the young lady did not explain how she met Kyle or even talk about how strong Kyle was. Instead, she merely mentioned one thing – she wanted Kyle to be her brother's magic instructor.
"Magic instructor? This guy?" Randall pointed to Kyle in disbelief. "Sis, you can't be serious!"
Rachel could not care less about his opinion, only nervously looking at Kyle instead. "Is that okay with you?"
"I don't particularly mind, it's just teaching him the basics right?" Kyle shrugged nonchalantly.
"Yes, just the basics will do! I will place my little brother in your care then!" Rachel nodded in excitement upon getting his agreement.
"Hey! Hello? I am here! Shouldn't you ask for my opinion first?" Randall continued to complain.
"Shut up! It is about time that you start learning magic after all! Or are you planning on slacking off all your life?" Rachel snapped at him.
"There are so many teachers to learn from, why should I learn from someone as young as him? What if I learn the wrong thing? And even if I am willing to, will the main family just stand by and let me do so?" Randall complained.
Rachel hesitated for a moment upon hearing that – she knew that her little brother was right.
Randall Pierce was already 15 years old, and most children of noble blood would have already started learning magic by that age. One reason why Randall had not started was because of his weak constitution, and the other reason was the wariness of the Pierce Main Family.
As long as the family could afford it, children were tested for their innate magical talent at birth. Just like items, talents were divided into the same four ranks of Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Bronze was average, while Silver was good. As for Gold and Platinum ranked talents, they were beyond rare.
And Randall Pierce just happened to be a Gold ranked talent!
Initially, the family had been ecstatic over the fact that they had produced an innate genius. However, their joy was short lived as the Pierce Main Family stepped in, wanting to adopt Randall Pierce into the main family.
When Rachel's parents refused to separate from their only son, the Pierce Main Family accused them of insubordination and plotting against the Pierce Main Family, forcing them to the edge until they finally agreed not to let Randall learn magic in the future, so that the Pierce Main Family's leading position in the Pierce lineage would not be threatened.
While they seldom spoke of this matter, it had been something that always weighed down heavily on the hearts of the family, causing everyone else to feel apologetic towards Randall.
After all, if he were not born in their household, Randall might become a dazzling mage in the future. Instead, he was now doomed to be a commoner, weaker than even the lowest ranked magi.
But now, Rachel was determined to make a change!
"While Kyle might seem young, he is definitely more than qualified to teach you! As for the main family, that is the reason why we are not speaking about this in the front hall. We absolutely cannot allow them to discover the fact that you are learning magic," Rachel's determination could be seen in the light of her eyes. "So on the surface, Kyle will be your Literature teacher!"
"Literature?" Randall's mouth opened wide in disbelief.
"Hahaha! That is a good cover story! I don't know about others, but I am absolutely confident in my literary knowledge!" Kyle was obviously pleased with this arrangement. "Literature works spread across the world, wildfire's speed pale in comparison. Beyond the heavens I claim to be first, among all walking on earth none dare challenge!"
Hearing that, the room fell silent for a moment.
"What the heck was that? Was it supposed to be a poem?" Randall finally turned to his sister in confusion.
"Perhaps we should change our cover story to something else…" Rachel slapped her forehead in frustration.
Seeing their reaction, Kyle could only shake his head in disappointment, "To think that I would have to teach literature to such ignorant people. Looks like we have a long road ahead of us…"
After all, even if it was just a cover story, should word get out that the student of he, the great Kyle, was this lacking, then what would be left of his reputation?
"Rachel, are you sure that this person is reliable?" Dorothy Lint's was full of worry after all that she had seen.
"I believe he is," Rachel knew that it was not the time for jokes, looking straight into her mother's eyes as she responded.
"Heh, that's the most honest thing I've heard from you all day," Kyle laughed in satisfaction.
Seeing the determination in her daughter's eyes, Dorothy Lint finally relented. After all, Rachel had always been a wise kid, not to mention that she was now the Head of the Pierce Third Branch Family. The least she could do was to trust the judgement of her own daughter.
"So, do I really have to learn from this guy?" Randall, however, was still uncomfortable with the situation.
"Heh," Kyle turned to look at the doubtful teenager and said with a playful voice. "Shall I show you how extraordinary I am then?"
Seeing the sinister grin on Kyle's face, Randall could not help but hesitate. But even so, this concerned who he would be learning magic from. If he started off his magical journey on the wrong foot, then it might have permanent repercussions on his accomplishments in the future.
As such, he was unable to just leave the decision to his sister without a single shred of doubt!
Steeling his resolve, Randall finally mustered the strength in him to retort.
"Sure! Show me what you are made of!"
