As Lin Xin witnessed Yun Che's dragon form successfully pull Xueli away from the clutches of Wrath, a surge of overwhelming emotion enveloped her. Tears of relief and joy welled up in her eyes, and her heart, which had been gripped by anxiety, now soared with elation.
"You did it," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. The weight that had burdened her soul, the fear for her daughter's safety, lifted in that pivotal moment. Lin Xin's maternal instincts, which had kept her on the edge throughout the battle, were now met with a profound sense of gratitude and relief.
In the midst of the ongoing clash of titans, Lin Xin felt an indescribable warmth flood her being. The sight of Xueli, freed from the clutches of the metallic dragon, filled her with an overwhelming sense of gratitude toward Yun Che and the companions who had fought alongside him.
------------
Retsu, with unwavering determination, summoned every ounce of her spiritual energy to unleash the final, decisive attack. The culmination of her efforts manifested in the form of the colossal Rasenshuriken, a weapon of immense power that radiated with a blinding brilliance.
As the Rasenshuriken surged forth, it was evident that Retsu had pushed herself to the absolute limit. Her once formidable reserve of spiritual energy was now depleted, leaving her utterly drained. The fatigue that crept through her body was undeniable, a testament to the immense sacrifices she had made for the sake of the battle.
Her fox cloak dissipated immediately, signalling her inevitable fatigue. With a weary yet content smile, Retsu began to descend from the sky, her descent a graceful acknowledgement of her spent strength. Murmuring with a soft voice carried by the wind, she spoke, "Yuu-kun, I need to sleep for a while. I leave everything to you."
At that moment, Retsu embraced the tranquillity of fatigue, succumbing to a well-deserved rest. Her sacrifice and unwavering efforts had played a crucial role in the battle, and now, with a serene expression, she entrusted the remaining course of the conflict to Yun Che.
--------------
As the intense battle reached its zenith, Mio, who had been in her colossal Spider of Calamity form, felt the drain on her profound energy intensifies. Unlike within the Azure Dragon's realm, where the energy consumption was more balanced, her colossal form outside the realm devoured her profound energy at an accelerated rate.
Feeling the fatigue seeping into every fibre of her being, Mio made the conscious decision to revert back to her human form. The transformation was swift, and as her colossal Spider of Calamity form dissipated, Mio stood now in her human form, visibly drained and fatigued.
With a breathless smile and she fell on the grass, she addressed Yun Che through their link, "I am sorry, Danna-sama. I am too tired to stand right now. You can finish this." The weariness in her voice was palpable, but there was a sense of trust and confidence in Yun Che that transcended her own physical limitations. Mio, having fought valiantly alongside him, now entrusted the remainder of the battle to Yun Che's capable hands.
-----------------------------
Yun Che, in his magnificent dragon form, skillfully manipulated Adamantium chains to bring Xueli and Kon closer. The ethereal cocoon containing them followed his lead. With careful precision, he unravelled the cocoon, revealing Kon and Xueli protected beneath the dragon's watchful gaze.
------------------------
[Xueli is now disconnected. The Dragon Wrath lost its regeneration and power source. However, its level is still in the Divine Origin Realm, be cautious.]
[Ding… Objective 1 Complete: Rescue Xueli.]
[Objective 2: Bring her to the Tomb Island.]
---------------------
"I thought I was gonna die!" Kon's voice echoed, a mix of relief and exhilaration as he finally extricated himself from the collapsing void. The immediate threat mattered less in that moment—what truly counted was the freedom granted to Xueli. As she was liberated, the destructive beam aimed at the barrier above abruptly ceased, no longer fueled by Xueli's power.
"No, you won't. Is she all right?" Yun Che's concern reverberated in his words as he held Xueli and Kon within the protective circle of his dragon arms, his form shrinking back to a human-sized dragon.
"She's critical, man! 11% left. We're toast either way," Kon's blunt assessment hung in the air, emphasizing the dire situation they found themselves in.
"Damn it…" Yun Che's frustration and helplessness echoed, a response to the harsh reality they faced. With Xueli teetering on the brink, their precarious situation demanded swift action and a miracle to tip the scales in their favour.
As the battle reached a critical juncture, Yun Che sensed the perilous fatigue enveloping both Retsu and Mio, pushing them dangerously close to their limits. A surge of anxiety prompted him to leap forward, ready to aid his fallen fiancées. Yet, before he could make his move, a streak of red blurred across the sky, and the Blood Red Hawk, with Jasmine on its back, gracefully swooped in to rescue Retsu from the imminent fall. Then, with the same speed scooped up the unconscious Mio nearby.
Observing the intricate dance of the majestic creature, Yun Che's heightened senses caught the unmistakable signs of his beloved fiancées' exhaustion. Retsu had fallen into a state of unconsciousness, and Mio now reverted to her normal form, lay equally fatigued in Jasmine's arms. Both had pushed their limits in their final attacks just moments ago, leaving Yun Che with the daunting responsibility of bringing this battle to an end.
Jasmine's determined voice cut through the chaos, breaking Yun Che from his momentary concern. "They're fine. Just tired and unconscious. I'll get them to safety. Finish that thing!" Her words were both a command and a plea, urging Yun Che to press on with the battle.
"Let's reach the island first! Follow me!" Yun Che's urgency echoed in his voice as he propelled himself into the skies. His dragon form shifted to a size slightly larger than a human, cradling Xueli in his protective arms while Kon perched on his shoulders. Swiftly, he bolted towards the sanctuary of Xuyi's Island tomb.
Jasmine trailed behind him atop the Blood Hawk, assuming the role of a vigilant guardian with Retsu and Mio in her protective care. The urgency of their escape from Wrath hung in the air like a palpable force, and every beat of Yun Che's wings carried them further away from the colossal dragon's menacing presence.
With Xueli disconnected, Wrath lost its regeneration and power source, prompting it to pursue them relentlessly. Yun Che knew that once he ensured the safety of his companions, he would have to confront Wrath head-on, utilizing whatever time his dragon form had left to deal with the colossal threat once and for all. The unstabilized energy core posed a grave risk, and time was of the essence to prevent a catastrophic explosion that could consume them all.
--------------------
"Yun Che! Xueli!" Lin Xin's desperate shout echoed through the chaotic battlefield. Yun Che, landing in his dragon form, quickly approached Lin Xin, who was anxiously cradling her unconscious daughter. Jasmine landed nearby, gently placing Retsu and Mio on the flower-laden field. Lin Xin barely registered the presence of the cloaked girl nearby; her primary concern was Xueli's well-being.
"She's unconscious, but her energy is in a critical state," Yun Che reported, passing the unconscious Xueli back to her mother.
"No…" Lin Xin could only utter in shock, realizing the perilous situation her daughter was in if her energy reached a critical limit.
ROAR!
"Eyaaa!!! What the hell do we do now?!" Kon's alarmed shout filled the air as Wrath, having recovered, soared towards the floating island, intent on reclaiming Xueli.
Below, Cang Yue's eyes were fixated on the approaching dragon, feeling a sense of helplessness. She could only hope that Yun Che had some kind of plan. Her attention was momentarily diverted as she observed the black-cloaked girl ordering Retsu's Blood Hawk to come to her; both of them then flew towards the dragon. Cang Yue had numerous questions about the mysterious girl and her apparent control over Retsu's powers, but she had more pressing matters to attend to—expending her Moon Energy in battling the shadow monsters.
Yun Che widened his eyes in his dragon form as Wrath relentlessly banged its head against the island's barrier, attempting to break through the protective shield.
"I'll deal with it!" Yun Che's resolve was palpable as he increased his power, pushing his dragon form to its utmost limit. With no time to contemplate Xueli's fate, he faced the colossal dragon alone—no companions, no assistance.
"Finally, you son of a bitch. You and me! Dragon to Dragon! If you want to get Xueli, come and get me first!" Yun Che's defiant shout resonated through the air before he launched himself towards Wrath, delivering a powerful direct punch. Wrath, devoid of its energy core, staggered under the force.
"Not so tough now without your energy core, huh?" Yun Che taunted, goading the dragon. In response, Wrath combined its drill attack, attempting to strike Yun Che, who skillfully countered with another Heretic God Art energy ball. The stage was set for a one-on-one clash between the dragon and its determined adversary.
---------
[Ding… Onslaught detected]
-------------
Yun Che manoeuvred with incredible agility, skillfully evading every onslaught thrown at him. Although Wrath's attacks were slower without the energy core, Yun Che could still anticipate their trajectories and effortlessly avoided them. Despite the dragon's attempts to strike Yun Che with its tendrils, he skillfully sidestepped each attack, countering with powerful punches.
However, the tide turned when Wrath unleashed an unexpected move. A lightning bolt surged from its mouth, catching Yun Che off guard. The bolt struck his dragon form, not only paralyzing him but also draining him of his energy. Struggling against the effects, Yun Che grunted, realizing that Wrath had found a way to siphon his energy.
"Damn it. Trying to siphon my energy, huh?" Yun Che muttered, acknowledging the newfound challenge presented by Wrath's unexpected tactic.
--------------
[Ding... Rerouting energy counter.]
------------
"Well, you can have this back!!" he exclaimed, channelling Wrath's energy back to his hands, Yun Che swiftly redirected the power, aiming a concentrated bolt at Wrath's face. The energy surged forth, demolishing one of the dragon's head drills and causing it to stagger. As Yun Che regained his flight mobility, he grinned.
His determination fueled a surge of internal energy that he converted into flames within his mouth.
"Take this!" Yun Che unleashed a mighty dragon's breath, a torrent of flames that engulfed Wrath. The dragon was pushed backwards, ensnared in the fiery inferno and created a spectacular explosion.
"How's that one for size!" Yun Che taunted, simultaneously strategizing on ways to defeat the dragon while grappling with the challenge of cooling Xueli's power core.
In a simultaneous skirmish within the tomb, the island's security system activated its golden shadow protectors to fend off the smaller shadow monsters attempting to breach the barrier. These shadows, once hostile, now stood as guardians, shielding Lin Xin, her daughter, and the unconscious Retsu and Mio from harm.
Lin Xin, engrossed in tending to her daughter, remained oblivious to Jasmine's presence. Jasmine, in turn, placed the unconscious Mio and Retsu on the flower field next to Xuyi's tomb, standing guard as the battle unfolded.
Turning her attention to the buried body within the tomb's mechanism, Jasmine spoke with a mix of curiosity and concern. "I don't know what is going on right now. If you knew this would happen, then … What would you do, Xuyi?"
Outside the barrier, Yun Che pressed on with his relentless assault on Wrath. However, a critical issue loomed over him – Xueli's energy was rapidly depleting, and her current power proved insufficient to sustain the energy core for much longer, despite the disconnection from Wrath. The urgency of the situation added a layer of complexity to Yun Che's already formidable challenge.
-----------------
[Ding… Energy Core is now 9%. Containment failed. Core meltdown imminent. Please get away as far as you can.]
---------------
The notification reverberated through the air, instantly grabbing the attention of everyone present, excluding the unconscious Mio and Retsu. Shock and urgency painted the expressions of each person as they processed the gravity of the situation.
"Damn it… There's no way I can run. Retsu… Mio… Lin Xin… Xueli… Kon… Jasmine..." Yun Che's voice quivered, burdened by the impending catastrophe. The realization that escaping the blast radius wouldn't be enough, that the detonation threatened to consume the entire Blue Wind Empire, fueled an unyielding resolve within him. "Even if I can escape, it won't be far enough."
Turning away from the option of fleeing, Yun Che directed his attention back to Wrath, pulling every ounce of energy he could muster. Determination etched across his features, he declared, "Bastard, if I am going down here, I am going to take you with me."
Within the central island, Lin Xin clutched her daughter tightly, a mother's embrace offering solace in the face of impending doom. Xueli's body began to radiate an intense and brilliant glow, signalling the core's descent below its critical limit. The once-subdued radiance transformed into a dazzling luminosity, casting an ethereal brilliance upon the surroundings.
Kon, observing the unfolding disaster, fell to all fours, realizing the futility of their mission to rescue Xueli. The system's indications further deepened the despair, revealing that Xueli's power had escalated to a point where it could obliterate the entire empire.
Amidst the impending catastrophe, Jasmine clenched her teeth in frustration. Without her divine strength and energy, she found herself helpless. The lack of control over the world's energy and the inability to transverse distance left her at a loss. In a desperate plea within her heart, she implored, "Xuyi… please… just do something. Anything…"
Lin Xin smiled through the tears and turned towards Kon and Jasmine. "Kon, and whoever you are... Please take Retsu and Mio and get away as far as you can."
"What about you?" Jasmine asked, while Kon vehemently protested, refusing to leave Lin Xin and Xueli behind.
"I'll stay here and be with my daughter until the very end. Thank you for bringing them to safety and rescuing my daughter. Please... just bring them away... please.... I couldn't bear them dying because of us," Lin Xin spoke, tears gushing from her eyes.
Contrary to the rising panic, Lin Xin smiled, embracing her glowing daughter. The radiance signified the commencement of Xueli's core meltdown, a process inching closer to a catastrophic detonation. In a gentle murmur to her daughter, Lin Xin apologized, "Xueli.... I am sorry.... Please forgive Mama for not being able to protect you. I promise we can now both meet your father. If you died here, then there's no meaning in Mama's life anymore. I won't run away and leave you behind. I'll stay here with you until the very end."
"Husband… looks like I'll be bringing our daughter to you. Forgive me as I couldn't raise her to be a wonderful woman." Lin Xin's voice quivered with a mix of resignation and sorrow as she spoke what felt like her last words.
She cast a fleeting gaze towards Yun Che, who valiantly fought Wrath on his own, a grateful smile etched on her face. "Yun Che, thank you for fighting until the end. Please forgive me and my daughter for giving you trouble. Please forgive me for troubling you, Little Yue, Retsu, Mio, and Kon. For calling me a sister despite what I am... Protecting me and Xueli. I appreciate what you did for me, for Xueli. Reviving me and helping both me and Xueli to get to where we are right now. I promise if I reincarnate…"
Suddenly, the Apple of Eden next to her glowed, capturing her attention and widening her eyes. The mysterious occurrence also drew the attention of Jasmine and the despairing Kon.
The atmosphere around Xuyi's tomb grew heavy, laden with anticipation and the undeniable energy of ancient power. A spectral figure, ethereal and divine, began to materialize before the eyes of those present. The Moon Empress, Huan Xuyi herself emerged, a luminescent presence that defied the boundaries between the spiritual and material realms.
The spectral figure bore an otherworldly beauty, radiating grace and wisdom that transcended time itself. A flowing gown of celestial silk draped around her form, adorned with intricate patterns resembling constellations. Her eyes, pools of cosmic knowledge, held a serene yet powerful gaze that seemed to pierce through the fabric of reality.
As the Moon Empress stepped forward from the confines of her tomb, the air itself seemed to ripple with the energy she emanated. The tomb's surroundings now bore the rejuvenating touch of the Moon Empress's presence. Flowers bloomed, and the very air seemed to shimmer with an aura of tranquillity. The ethereal entity bore the same serene countenance and flowing robes as the figure who had once bestowed immense power upon Lin Xin during her previous visit to the flowery realm.
"Xuyi…" Jasmine recognized the presence of Huan Xuyi, the Moon Empress, with a surprising smile directed at her. As the tension built around Lin Xin and Xueli, hinting at an impending detonation, the Moon Empress approached with a celestial glow, creating a surreal scene. Despite the chaos, the ancient wisdom in the Moon Empress's smile conveyed a purpose beyond immediate troubles.
"You…" Lin Xin, holding her daughter, felt a mix of gratitude and curiosity. The Moon Empress wasn't just a ghost but seemed intricately connected to destiny. In the face of impending disaster, the spectral figure radiated calm resolve, hinting at an unseen path forward. The connection between Xuyi and those present went beyond mortal understanding, creating a suspended moment where the living and the ethereal met under the watchful gaze of the Moon Empress.
With a gaze that mirrored the compassion seen in the Moon Empress's eyes during Lin Xin's earlier encounter, the spectral figure extended a spectral hand. The gentle touch seemed to resonate with a calming energy as if urging Lin Xin to reconsider the destructive path she was about to tread.
The atmosphere crackled with a blend of apprehension and hope as the spectral Moon Empress intervened, her presence echoing the potent connection between the past and present, and the intricate threads of fate that wove through the flowery realm.
"What are you?" Lin Xin asked in awe, but she was ignored as the spectral Moon Empress's hand extended gracefully, reaching out towards Xueli, whose very essence seemed on the brink of a cataclysmic detonation. Simultaneously, the Apple of Eden, positioned beside the Moon Empress, emitted a soft, radiant glow.
As the spectral figure's hand approached Xueli, a miraculous transformation unfolded. The ethereal touch of the Moon Empress acted as a healing touch, an antidote to the rampaging energy within Lin Xin's daughter.
The radiant glow from the Apple of Eden intensified as if channelling the Moon Empress's benevolent energy. The amalgamation of spectral and ethereal forces worked in harmony, and a calmness descended upon Xueli. The once-uncontrollable energy now seemed to submit to the Moon Empress's touch, the chaotic tempest within her gradually subsiding.
--------------------
[Ding… Core stabilizing. Reaching minimum safe limit. Core is now at 11%]
--------------------
It didn't stop there. The spectral Moon Empress, with an ethereal grace, extended her hand toward the colossal form of Wrath. In an awe-inspiring turn of events, Lin Xin, Jasmine, and Kon stood witness as the spectral figure began drawing power directly from Wrath itself. The air crackled with an unusual energy as the Moon Empress's form absorbed divine essence from the metallic dragon.
She extracted divine energy from the colossal Wrath. The energy flowed towards the Apple of Eden as it was suspended in the air, the Apple absorbed the energy eagerly, transforming it into a purer form within its crystalline surface.
The refined divine energy, now in a potent state, radiated with unprecedented luminosity. It then seamlessly entered Xueli's body, recognizing her as its true destination. Xueli's energy core, once fading, now glowed with vitality as it harmoniously merged with the divine energy. This fusion revitalized her from within, creating a harmonious symphony of energies.
-------------------
[Ding… Core is now at 12%, 13%, 14%]
-------------------
The core's energy surged as if Wrath had become the newfound wellspring for the unique core inside Xueli. In the dance of cosmic energies orchestrated by the Moon Empress, a staggering phenomenon unfolded. Xueli's energy core, on the brink of destructive release, now thrived with newfound vitality. The once-dim glow now blazed with intensity, pulsating with the divine energy siphoned from Wrath.
The celestial exchange played out like a grand cosmic ballet, the Moon Empress skillfully redirecting Wrath's formidable power toward Xueli's core. It was a spectacle of energy manipulation, the divine essence that once fueled the colossal dragon now surging through Xueli, reinvigorating and empowering her from within.
In the face of this awe-inspiring occurrence, Lin Xin, Jasmine, and Kon stood in silent reverence. The unorthodox transfer of power unfolded before them, challenging the very laws of their world. The Moon Empress's intervention not only averted a looming catastrophe but also altered the course of the battle, fusing energies in a way that promised to reshape the destinies of all involved.
Yun Che, with his dragon eyes fixated on the internal barrier, witnessed the spectral form of Xuyi drawing energy from Wrath. "Xuyi... Even in death, you still help us," he acknowledged a mixture of gratitude and admiration in his voice. The sight before him was a testament to Xuyi's enduring legacy and her strategic brilliance that transcended the boundaries of life and death.
As Yun Che's realization unfurled like a thunderclap in his mind, he marvelled at the strategic brilliance of Huan Xuyi. She had orchestrated this intricate plan millennia ago, knowing she couldn't defeat the dragon in direct combat. Instead, she sealed it away, biding her time until a momentous future event unfolded – the impending clash between Wrath and the ones who would challenge its might.
"How does it feel, Wrath? Knowing the Moon Empress really plays a part in this." Yun Che spoke, his voice carrying a hint of admiration for the elaborate scheme.
Witnessing the Moon Empress harnessing power directly from Wrath, diverting it toward Xueli, fueled the dragon's wrath even further. The metallic beast roared with an intensity that shook the very air around it, expressing its vehement objection to the orchestrated energy transfer.
"So, this was your grand plan, Xuyi," Yun Che muttered, acknowledging the depth of her foresight. "You cooked up this plan thousands of years ago. Aizen Sousuke would be impressed."
In the midst of this seething rage, Wrath turned its attention towards Yun Che, who had now engaged in a fierce battle with the colossal dragon. The dragon's metallic eyes glowed with an incandescent wrath of their own as if accusing Yun Che of complicity in the perceived theft of its power.
"All this time, she was preparing Xueli for this one single moment," Yun Che reflected, his dragon eyes narrowing in determination. "To use the girl as a medium to transfer all that divine energy into her. Using me as a means of distraction so she could divert the energy into developing the girl."
In the heat of the confrontation, Yun Che smirked at Wrath. "Man, this girl was alive. She could be the Aizen Sousuke of this world. Even her death was also part of her plan. Don't tell me she planned to come back in the future?"
Witnessing the unfolding drama, Lin Xin, Jasmine, and Kon stood in silent awe, witnessing the unorthodox transfer of power that seemed to defy the very laws of their world. The Moon Empress's intervention had not only averted a catastrophe but had also turned the tide of the battle, creating a fusion of energies that would reshape the destiny of those involved.
"You knew this was going to happen," Yun Che exclaimed, his realization crystalizing. "She likely foresaw this future and planned things ahead, including the restoration of Xueli's powers. Back then, even if she could take Wrath's energy, there was no one who could shoulder that amount of energy without dying. But now, someone could. And she just used me to power Xueli up."
In response, the dragon's metallic form seethed with fury, its colossal frame pulsating with rage. Huan Xuyi's intricate plan not only set the stage for Wrath's defeat but also harnessed its power to rejuvenate and empower Xueli's unique energy core.
------------
[Ding… Energy siphoning from the island has drained Wrath's level. Its level is now at Level 104.]
------------
As Wrath, in the realization of its strength being siphoned away, intensified its assault on the barrier with thunderous drills, Yun Che seized the opportunity to initiate a relentless barrage of Kido attacks. His swift and strategic manoeuvres aimed to divert the dragon's attention and prevent it from inflicting further damage on the weakening barrier.
Executing a hit-and-run tactic, Yun Che skillfully dodged Wrath's retaliatory strikes, drawing the dragon's focus towards him. The relentless barrage of Kido spells was a dazzling display of magical prowess, disrupting Wrath's offensive manoeuvres and keeping it at bay.
Wrath unleashed its absorption bolt once more against Yun Che. In a strategic response, the young dragon redirected the dragon's energy bolt, blending it with the powerful Heretic God's energy. The originally blue bolt morphed into an intense red, retaliating against Wrath and demolishing one of its deadly drills. The removal of these drills significantly hindered Wrath's ability to drill into the central island.
Wrath let out a roar of pain as Yun Che successfully disabled its second drill with that shot. "This feels like a scene from Crysis 3!" Yun Che celebrated inwardly, recognizing that his swift thinking and effective use of various powers were playing a crucial role in the ongoing battle.
As the dragon loomed menacingly before him, its metallic scales gleaming with an ominous aura, Yun Che's determination surged. With a confident smirk, he taunted the colossal dragon, highlighting the difference in their reliance on power.
"*Chuckle…I am not like you, relying on other people's power. Let me show you what my dragon form can do," Yun Che declared, his words resonating with both defiance and assurance. The rapid succession of Kido spells continued, each designed to weaken and confine the formidable Wrath. The air crackled with mystical energy as Yun Che unleashed the full might of his Dragon Form, determined to prove that he could stand on equal footing with the colossal metallic adversary.
"Sokatsui!" Yun Che shouted, directing a burst of blue flames toward Wrath. The Sokatsui struck the dragon's chest, especially at the gaping hole he pulled Xueli from, creating a burst of intense heat. While the flames didn't seem to cause significant damage, they served as a distraction, momentarily diverting Wrath's attention.
Seizing the opportunity, Yun Che swiftly invoked the binding spell. "Sajo Sabaku!" Thin, crackling energy ropes shot from his fingertips, snaking around Wrath's limbs with precision. The dragon struggled against the ethereal restraints, its movements temporarily hindered.
Knowing that he needed more than just bindings, Yun Che decided to disrupt Wrath's vision and buy himself some time. "Sekienton!" A burst of red smoke erupted, engulfing the immediate vicinity. The acrid smoke served its purpose, creating a veil of confusion around Wrath.
With the dragon momentarily blinded and entangled, Yun Che prepared for a more powerful assault. "Shakkaho!" A concentrated orb of red energy formed in his palm, growing steadily. As he hurled the sphere toward Wrath, it exploded on impact, unleashing a fiery shockwave that rippled across the dragon's metallic form.
-------------
[Ding… Xueli's energy core is now at 20%. Wrath's level has been decreased to Level 103.]
-------------
"Now you know how she feels when you pull her energy!" Yun Che's defiant shout pierced through the tumultuous battlefield, goading Wrath to redirect its fury solely upon him.
In a strategic move to conserve power, the colossal dragon decided to deactivate the energy beam targeting the barrier. Instead, it opted to focus its remaining strength on overpowering Yun Che, who stood as the sole provocateur of its wrath.
A triumphant smirk played on Yun Che's lips as he observed Wrath's tactical shift. The dragon had lost the divine energy it once drew from Xueli, causing a gradual decline in its formidable strength. Yun Che, realizing the significance of maintaining Xueli's reverse connection, kept the link active to further diminish Wrath's power.
As the colossal dragon unleashed its relentless beam attack, Yun Che swiftly adapted. Decreasing his size to that of a human-sized dragon, he manoeuvred into Wrath's blind spot, rendering the beam ineffective against his scaled form. Seizing the opportunity, Yun Che swiftly increased his size and delivered a punch infused with Haoshoku No Haki directly under Wrath's massive chin.
The impact resonated through the metallic exterior, causing a momentary disruption in Wrath's relentless assault. Yun Che's calculated move exploited the dragon's vulnerability, showcasing not only his tactical prowess but also his ability to confront the colossal threat with strategic finesse.
------------------------------
[Ding… Xueli's energy core is now at 40%. Wrath's level has been decreased to Level 102.]
------------------------------
"Three more levels… Come on, Xueli, take as much as you can from it!" Yun Che's fervent encouragement echoed across the chaotic battlefield. The urgency in his voice reflected the critical nature of the situation – if Wrath's levels dropped below 100, Yun Che's full dragon form could take over the confrontation. For now, his focus was on keeping the colossal threat occupied.
With Wrath continuing its rampage unabated, Yun Che understood the need to escalate his tactics. Drawing upon the potent energy surging within him, he summoned the Adamantium chains once more. These unbreakable chains shot forth with remarkable speed, entwining around Wrath's colossal form in an intricate and unyielding configuration.
Taking advantage of the dragon's momentary immobilization, Yun Che swiftly manoeuvred into position. The Hyapporankan technique followed suit – ethereal pillars materialized in the air, their gleaming edges poised to strike, descending onto Wrath alongside the chains, further restraining its colossal form.
Yet, Yun Che wasn't content with just immobilizing the metallic dragon. Recognizing the enhanced power granted by his Dragon Form, he decided to amplify the impact. Focusing his energy, he channelled the enchanted Twin Sokatsui – a high-level Destruction Kido technique – through his draconic form. The Sokatsui flames surged forward with intensified ferocity, taking on a grander scale as they homed in on the restrained Wrath, now enchanted with a dragon-powered chant.
As the flames engulfed the metallic dragon, Yun Che marvelled at the augmented potency of his Kido under the influence of the Dragon Form. The destructive force unleashed was awe-inspiring, but he couldn't ignore the increased toll on his energy reserves. The grand scale of the attack came at the cost of heightened energy consumption.
---------------------------
[Ding… Xueli's energy core is now at 65%. Wrath's level has been decreased to Level 100.]
-----------------------------
Yun Che marvelled at the newfound ability to execute Flash Step seamlessly within his Dragon Form. The agility and speed he gained were assets in this fierce battle against Wrath. However, he contemplated using the Hollow's mask for an added advantage, only to find out that Hoyuu had fallen asleep after the previous session, extending the cooldown of his Hollow's mode to a day. In this critical moment, Yun Che had no choice but to rely solely on his dragon powers and fire-based Kido.
His repertoire of fire-based Kido, limited to Sokatsui and Soren Sokatsui, posed a challenge. The formidable Broken Shadow Flash was excluded from use, as it drained his energy at an unsustainable rate.
Meanwhile, Wrath, undeterred, continued to draw energy for another assault. Yun Che seized the opportunity, utilizing the system to convert the dragon's blue lightning bolt into the potent Heretic God's energy. With a calculated strike, he retaliated, sending back the energy in the form of a destructive red lightning bolt that decimated all the drills on Wrath's head.
As Yun Che prepared for another onslaught, a sudden realization hit him. His dragon horn, a key element of Leonidas's form, began to glow rapidly in a vivid shade of red. The unmistakable sign indicated that the Dragon Form was reaching its limit, and Yun Che was on the verge of reverting to his human form. Disheartened by the realization that he hadn't inflicted enough damage on Wrath, Yun Che knew he had one final chance to make a significant impact.
With determination in his eyes, he muttered, "One last chance, here we go!" Yun Che braced himself for a final, all-out assault, pouring every ounce of remaining energy into a relentless attack against the colossal metallic dragon, hoping to turn the tide in this decisive moment.
"Dragon Soul Domain!!!" The mighty command echoed through the battlefield as Yun Che unleashed the concealed power of his Dragon Soul Domain upon Wrath. The colossal dragon, once towering with unyielding might, succumbed to the overwhelming aura of the Azure Dragon, granting Yun Che precious seconds to prepare for a final, all-out assault before his dragon form's imminent reversion.
Initiating the onslaught, Yun Che combined the Heretic God arts, Spirit Force, and Haoshoku No Haki into a potent ball of destructive energy. With unwavering determination, he directed the formidable attack towards Wrath's metallic face, shattering its outer shell and revealing the vulnerable golden brain within. The force of the impact was so immense that it instantaneously transformed the battlefield.
As the transformation dissipated, Yun Che found himself back in his human form, vulnerable and exposed. Wrath's tendrils, ever-ready, closed in on him with an anticipated strike. Despite the impending danger, Yun Che could only mutter an alarmed, "Oh shit..."
The tendrils struck him directly, propelling him into a floating pile with relentless force. Notifications of damage overwhelmed him, pushing his health to critical levels. The depletion of Spirit Force prevented the automatic activation of Sealing Cloud Locking Sun, leaving Yun Che defenceless against the onslaught.
Amidst the subsiding smoke from his attack, Yun Che opened his tired eyes, only to witness Wrath, though battered, still standing. "Even that didn't kill him?!" Desperation gripped him as Wrath conjured shadow monsters, encircling Yun Che in his weakened state. Beaten and defenceless, he faced an imminent, merciless beating from these creatures.
As the series of notifications concluded, a singular message appeared—a notification that, while not the breakthrough Yun Che sought, held the key to his survival.
-----------------------------------
[Ding….]
[Ding….]
[Great Way of the Buddha has broken through.]
The notification alone was enough to shock him even while he is currently in critical health.
------------------------------
[Ding… Congratulations on achieving the Great Way of the Buddha Stage Four. Your body is now a Lower Rank Saint Body. Host arm strength has increased to 50 Tons or 50000 Kg. The host can now recover 5% of HP, Spirit Force and Stamina per minute and the system can now use it to recover your mental fatigue. You can make a full recovery in just 20 minutes. Your sleep can now generate 10000XP per minute.]
-----------------------------
A wry smile crept onto Yun Che's face, hidden behind his tired exterior. While 10,000 XP might appear substantial in most cases, for someone with his extensive experience, it amounted to a mere fraction—perhaps a meagre 0.000001 percent—of his colossal experience bar. Yet, XP was XP, a reward earned for the simple act of sleeping. The irony of gaining experience points for resting was not lost on him.

[Ding… Congratulations on achieving the Achievement – I am That Hard! – Stage Four in the Great Way of the Buddha and unlocking the Lower Rank Saint Body. XP: 50,000 SP: 10,000]
[Ding... A new achievement frame unlocked.]
The frame showcased Yun Che skillfully deflecting bullets while flexing his chest.
[Due to the host attaining the Low-Rank Saint Body, the system has increased your Spirit Force Pool Points from a total of 70,000 to 80,000. Your body can now store Divine Energy, though you cannot generate it until you break through Level 100 and enter the Realm of the Divines. The same principle applies to your Radiant Saint Force, operating under a different energy core.]
[The Pagoda within the inner world has transformed into a dull gold hue, its radiance purer and more vibrant. A faint gold tinge now courses through your blood.]
[Ding… The host's Body is now Level 100 Max. The Great Way of the Buddha has reached the Fourth Realm. All experience points below level 100 are now obsolete, incapable of increasing the host's current body level. The host is impervious to attacks from opponents on and under level 100; encountering opponents at level 101 and above is the exception. The next breakthrough is Body Level 120, requiring the accumulation of 1,000,000 points of Divine Energy to initiate.]
----------------------------------------
Upon attaining the Fourth Realm in the Great Way of the Buddha, Yun Che's inner world underwent a profound transformation. The former stage air is now brimmed with celestial essence, offering rejuvenation with every breath. This revitalized atmosphere not only healed fatigue and injuries but also served as a conduit for restoring spirit powers and mental powers.
--------------------------------------
Yun Che grunted in pain, the shock of the recent enhancements rippling through his body. The newfound abilities he gained were taking their toll, and the full extent of the benefits might not manifest immediately. The pain was a stark reminder that even with the perks, he wasn't invincible, and the price of power was steep.
Unbeknownst to Yun Che, his body had already experienced a significant upgrade when he shielded Retsu from Wrath's beam attack earlier. The attack had propelled his body to the Seventh Level of the Sovereign Profound Realm, a remarkable leap in his body prowess. Meanwhile, Retsu, having absorbed a portion of the damage, had ascended her body to the Fifth Level of Sovereign Profound Realm, reaching Body Level 95.
Mio had achieved Body Level 100 by shouldering a substantial portion of the last tendril's damage. However, her mortal limitations now constrained her further progress and only encounters with divine opponents or tapping into divine realms could elevate her to greater heights.
Kon, on the other hand, took the brunt of the damage directly, forcing his transformation into plushy mode. Despite the plushy exterior, the impact propelled him to the Seventh Level of the Sovereign Profound Realm. However, the toll was evident as he remained stuck in his plushy form, unable to revert to his Lion Mode for an extended period. Despite this setback, he played a crucial role in rescuing Xueli from the clutches of Wrath.
The battlefield bore witness to the consequences of their struggle, each member marked by the trials they faced and the levels they attained. As Yun Che grappled with the pain, the realization dawned that their journey was far from over, and Wrath remained a formidable adversary to overcome.
Despite Yun Che's formidable last attack, Wrath stood defiant, its metallic form resilient against the onslaught. The dragon's head, though damaged, signalled that the battle was far from over. Weakened and unable to stand, Yun Che found himself at the mercy of Wrath, which conjured lightning bolts to immobilize him, the painful shocks coursing through his body, threatening to bring about his demise.
As Yun Che faced the prospect of an untimely end, a sudden eruption of multiple explosions echoed through the air. The thunderous blasts reverberated around them as fire bombs rained down on Wrath's imposing face, courtesy of Kon in his powerful Lion Mode.
The explosions created a chaotic display of light and sound, temporarily blinding Wrath and affording Yun Che a momentary reprieve from its torment. The battle took an unexpected turn, injecting a renewed sense of hope into the dire situation. Kon's intervention not only saved Yun Che from the brink but also shifted the momentum of the confrontation.
Wrath roared in agony as the firebombs relentlessly battered its face, and Yun Che seized the opportunity to recover. Despite his weakened state, a spark of determination ignited within him. The battle was not over; there was still fight left in him.
"It's all yours, man!!!" Kon's voice echoed through the tumultuous battlefield as he hurled fireballs at Wrath, desperately trying to divert its attention away from Yun Che. However, the colossal dragon dismissed Kon's fiery assault with a nonchalant swat with its tendrils, sending him plummeting like a meteor towards the ground below the floating island.
"Kon!!!" Yun Che's heart sank as he watched his friend fall, the helplessness weighing on him. Time was against them, and there was no luxury for a rescue mission. He could feel the strain of the battle, his body pushed to its limits.
Though weakened, Yun Che knew he had one last gambit to play. The breakthrough he had experienced moments ago granted him a surge of Spirit Force, and with only 10,000 Spirit Points left, he decided to channel all of it into a final attack. His trembling hands conjured the Ginrei Kojaku Bow, charging up a single 'Heaven Decimating Arrow.' This arrow would cost him all his remaining energy but promised a devastating blow with the force of a Heretic God.
With determination etched on his face, Yun Che raised his hands, pointing the bow directly at Wrath's head. His Haki extended towards the gaping hole in its skull, created by his previous Haoshoku Heretic energy attack. Wrath, sensing the imminent threat, began charging towards him, its damaged head descending with deadly intent.
As Wrath closed in, Yun Che summoned every ounce of energy and Haki he had left, a weak smile playing on his lips. The countdown to the final confrontation had begun, and Yun Che steeled himself for the last stand against the relentless metallic behemoth. Time seemed to slow as Wrath's head descended, a menacing force preparing for another onslaught.
Yun Che smirks under his breath, his smile carrying the weight of every hardship endured. As he drew the string of his bow, the Decimating Arrow materialized, its glow resonating with the intensity of Yun Che's emotions.
----------------------------
[Ding… Xueli's energy core is now at 75%. Wrath's level has been decreased to Level 97.]
----------------------------
The notification flickered in Yun Che's vision, spelling out the opportunity he desperately sought. His determination surged, knowing that Xueli's absorption process could continue, but he also grasped the urgency of prioritizing his own survival. The arrow, now charged with an unprecedented blend of Haki and Heretic God energy, fueled by the newfound reservoir of 10,000 Spirit Force points, awaited its release. Yun Che's smirk reflected a blend of confidence and defiance in the face of imminent danger.
The Quincy Bow materialized in his hands, its ethereal glow reflecting the fusion of spiritual and divine energies. Yun Che drew the bowstring, feeling the tension build. The arrow, imbued with the essence of his power trembled with anticipation.
"This one's for Xueli and Xin'er, you son of a bitch," Yun Che released the arrow with pinpoint accuracy. The projectile shot through the air, finding its mark with unerring precision. The arrow penetrated Wrath's head, piercing through the fleshy exterior and into the core.
A shockwave of energy erupted from the point of impact, and Wrath abruptly halted in its tracks. The Heaven Decimating Arrow, now embedded within its head, began its deadly work. The arrow unleashed a series of explosions, triggering a chaotic energy rampage within Wrath's head. The colossal dragon convulsed, its movements erratic and uncoordinated, resembling a headless serpent struggling against unseen forces.
The chain reaction initiated by the Decimating Arrow surged through Wrath's massive form, causing it to writhe in agony. As the explosive energy coursed through the dragon, its head glowed like a sun for a fleeting moment, an ominous prelude to the impending cataclysm. Then, in a spectacular display, the dragon's head detonated in a radiant burst of energy.
The shockwave rippled through the air, creating a dazzling display of lights that painted the sky in hues of ethereal brilliance. Yun Che watched the destruction he had unleashed upon Wrath, a mix of satisfaction and weariness etched on his visage.
The battle was finally over and with it, Yun Che fell on his back with a sigh of relief.
-----------------------
As Yun Che defeated Wrath, a sudden phenomenon rippled across the battlefield. The shadow monsters, once under the metallic dragon's command, came to an abrupt halt, their dark forms freezing in place. Then, in a spectacular display of radiant brilliance, one by one, the shadow monsters exploded into light, dissolving into nothingness.
Cang Yue, who had been fending off one of the shadow monsters, breathed a sigh of relief as she witnessed the unexpected turn of events. The shadows that had threatened the city now disintegrated into beams of light, bringing an end to their menacing presence. A smile of triumph graced Cang Yue's face as the threat dissipated before her eyes.
Turning her gaze toward the floating island, she saw Wrath's colossal body plummeting into the inner zone of the city. The sight brought a mix of relief and anticipation.
"Yun Che… you did it." She spoke with a relief tone before she collapsed on her knees as fatigue took over. She didn't know how many of those shadows she killed but she knew one thing. She managed to prevent them from pursuing the innocent who fled the city.
Amidst the cacophony of victory, Cang Yue stood in the aftermath of the colossal dragon's defeat, her haki attuned to the surging emotions around her. Huan Bei's triumphant shout echoed in the air, accompanied by the jubilation of the surviving soldiers. Their collective joy and relief resonated with Cang Yue's empathetic Haki, providing her with a visceral connection to the emotions coursing through the battlefield.
Her haki, finely honed through rigorous training, allowed her to navigate the tumultuous sea of sentiments without succumbing to the helplessness that often accompanied such crises. She had consciously chosen to shield herself from the overwhelming despair that might have otherwise engulfed her, ensuring that she remained a pillar of strength for those relying on her leadership.
The golden shadow protectors, once vigilant sentinels around her, began to dissolve into radiant light. They had dutifully fulfilled their purpose – shielding Cang Yue from harm. Yet, in her heart, she wished they could have extended their protective embrace to the brave soldiers valiantly battling the shadow monsters. Her choice to fight alongside Huan Bei was a deliberate effort to redirect the shadows' protective influence toward the frontline, where the city's defenders needed it the most.
The cheers of victory echoed not only from the soldiers but also from the city folk who had evacuated earlier. Their triumphant shouts signalled the end of a harrowing battle and the preservation of their beloved city. Cang Yue absorbed the collective triumph, a bittersweet melody of relief and accomplishment after the relentless struggle to safeguard their home.
In the midst of the victory cries Cang Yue couldn't help but feel a surge of pride for the people. The battle was over, and the city stood resilient, thanks to the collective efforts of its defenders.

[Ding….. Xueli's core is now at 75% complete.]
Jasmine, who had been silently observing, couldn't help but show a flicker of surprise. The implications of Xueli's accelerated cultivation timeline were clear. The Moon Empress had not only played a part in defeating Wrath but had also influenced Xueli's growth.
"Wait, what...?" Jasmine muttered to herself, her crimson eyes narrowing as she processed the unexpected information. The system's notification showed a shortcut in Xueli's cultivation waiting period. Instead of the original plan that would have required ten more years, Xueli would now be ready in six years.
A realization dawned on Jasmine. The spectral Moon Empress, an intricate part of Huan Xuyi's plan, had not only assisted in the battle but had also manipulated the very fabric of Xueli's cultivation journey. The surprise in Jasmine's eyes reflected the complexity of the situation and the depth of Huan Xuyi's foresight.
Xueli, still asleep in the safety of the tomb, remained oblivious to the profound changes occurring within her. The journey to harness her powers had taken an unforeseen turn, shortening the path to her full potential. The unspoken legacy left by Huan Xuyi continued to unfold, leaving those involved in awe of the intricate threads that connected past, present, and future.
The ethereal glow of the Moon Empress lingered for a moment longer, casting a celestial radiance that seemed to bless the victorious scene. Lin Xin, still processing the surreal encounter, couldn't help but express her gratitude to the spectral figure that had played a crucial role in saving her and Xueli. As the figure bowed and vanished towards the tomb, the notification of Xueli's core completion brought a sense of relief to the mother's heart.
"Thank you... for everything, Moon Empress. Your intervention has saved us," Lin Xin whispered her gratitude, her words carried away by the mystical air that surrounded the moment.
However, the unexpected revelation that Jasmine knew the spectral Moon Empress raised more questions in Lin Xin's mind. As Jasmine acknowledged the orchestrated plan, Lin Xin's curiosity got the better of her. Jasmine's enigmatic connection to the situation and Huan Xuyi left Lin Xin yearning for answers.
"Wait..." Lin Xin's voice pierced the post-battle silence, reaching out to Jasmine, who was about to depart.
"Who are you? Why are you helping us?" Lin Xin pressed, seeking clarity in the midst of the lingering mysteries.
"I am just an ally," Jasmine replied cryptically, leaving Lin Xin with more questions than answers. The nameless ally's demeanour conveyed a sense of detachment, making Lin Xin wonder about the extent of Jasmine's involvement and her true identity.
"Ally? Then, my thanks for rescuing both Retsu and Mio," Lin Xin expressed her gratitude, attempting to bridge the gap between the unknown ally and the gratitude she felt for the assistance.
"Instead of thanking me, you should do something about that man." Jasmine, rather than basking in the appreciation, redirected Lin Xin's attention to a more pressing matter. Lin Xin, caught off guard, turned her gaze back to where Yun Che lay, realizing that, despite the victory, the cost had taken its toll on the valiant warrior.
"Yun Che... How do you..." Lin Xin started to inquire further, but Jasmine had already vanished into the shadows, leaving Lin Xin with a swirl of unanswered questions and a hero in dire need of aid.

[New Frame Unlocked]
The Frame shows Chibi Yun Che smiling triumphantly on top of Wrath's dead Chibi body.
------------------------
"Damn… Move, damn it!" Yun Che fought against his paralyzed body, a struggle against the simultaneous onslaught of pain and side effects. Despite the notification for the largest XP gain in his current life—20 million XP, generously divided among his party—appearing before him, he paid it no mind. Aizen's Dragon Kido Spell, a powerful reward, was now part of his repertoire. However, his body, freshly levelled to 100, showed no immediate signs of improvement, and he had expended his last bit of energy on the decisive arrow.
His once-potent powers were gone, leaving him devoid of strength, status recovery, or any means of healing. The once-floaty debris, now bereft of Wrath's influence, plummeted from the sky to the city below. Paralyzed and powerless, Yun Che couldn't even budge to find safety.
The small floating area crumbled beneath him, tossing him into the descent towards the city. Prepared for the impending pain of the fall, Yun Che suddenly noticed a massive white eagle swooping down. Just in the nick of time, Lin Xin, perched atop Cang Yue's Little White, orchestrated a rescue.
"Xin'er…" Yun Che, opening his eyes, found solace in the sight of Lin Xin's beautiful face. Her concern, the furrowed brow, and her porcelain features were a reassuring sight—she became his rescuer.
"Yun Che… Thank you… Thank you very much," Lin Xin expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the debt she could never fully repay for the safety and well-being of her daughter.
"Is Xueli safe?" Yun Che inquired, concern etching his weakened features.
"She's on the island with Retsu and Mio. All three of them are sleeping well," Lin Xin reassured him, emphasizing the security of their sanctuary.
"Then, all is well," Yun Che responded with a weary yet content smile.
With Yun Che cradled in the rescue of Lin Xin's affection, her heart overflowed with gratitude. As she gazed at the man who had become an unexpected but indispensable part of her life, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of indebtedness. Yun Che, with his unwavering determination and sacrifice, had not only saved her daughter but had also mended the broken pieces of their lives.
"Yun Che," Lin Xin began, her voice a soft melody carrying the weight of profound gratitude. "I can't find the words to express how thankful I am. You stepped into our lives like a guiding light, dispelling the darkness that had clouded our existence. You woke me up and rescued Xueli, gave us a chance at life."
Her eyes, shimmering with a mixture of emotions, held Yun Che's gaze. "You've been our hero, not by choice, but by the virtue of your actions. I will forever be grateful for the kindness and courage you've shown, and for the sacrifices you've made for us. Xueli and I owe you more than words can convey."
A soft smile graced Yun Che's lips as he listened to Lin Xin's heartfelt gratitude. He reached out, placing a gentle hand on hers, silently acknowledging the connection they had forged through adversity. Lin Xin, caught between tears and smiles, felt a warmth in her heart—a warmth born out of the profound bond that had developed between them. Yun Che humbly grinned, his strength waning. "I am no hero. I just wanted to see you smile alongside Xueli. You look so sweet when you smile."
"Smooth talker…" Lin Xin teased, her cheeks flushing at his words.
"I tried…" Yun Che chuckled, a weary but triumphant expression on his face. Lin Xin couldn't help but smile, appreciating the gravity of what this man had accomplished – defeating a colossal dragon to save her daughter. They were nobodies to him but what Yun Che and the others did today shows they are family to him.
Yet, amidst the aftermath, Lin Xin sensed something peculiar. Her newly awakened senses allowed her to perceive the people and sounds around the city, a dormant ability surfacing after years of being sealed. A familiar presence caught her attention, and it was someone she had unfinished business with. Yun Che followed her senses soon after and somehow wondered how in the world that person was still alive.
"Xin'er…," Yun Che muttered, understanding the determination in Lin Xin's eyes. Little White landed near the massive hole that used to be the Huan Family Estate, the very place Lin Xin wanted to go. At the edge of the basin, she spotted a heavily injured figure, bleeding profusely. This disfigured person was a stark contrast to the tormentor Lin Xin once knew.
As Lin Xin prepared to disembark the eagle, she felt a tug on her hand. Yun Che looked at her, an unspoken understanding passing between them. Lin Xin turned toward him, and in that silent exchange, her expression conveyed a plea – to let her settle the score. Yun Che shook his head, but he released her hand.
Lin Xin descended from the eagle, her steps deliberate as she approached the dying figure with a tanto in hand. The injured person slowly raised her head, revealing a taunting smile. The disfigurement now showcased the true identity – the once-great Matriarch of the Huan Family, Huan Ling, reduced to a beggar-like appearance. The irony of what she used to call Lin Xin was not lost on anyone present.
As Lin Xin approached the edge of the basin, the sight of Huan Ling in her disfigured and dying state brought a mix of emotions. The tanto in Lin Xin's hand mirrored the turmoil within her. Yun Che, observing from a distance, felt the tension in the air and hesitated but ultimately let her go.
Huan Ling, her bloodied and frail appearance revealing the consequences of her once-great status, tauntingly smiled at Lin Xin. The disfigurement exposed the true face of the once-powerful matriarch of the Huan Family, now reduced to a pitiable state.
"Well… Ughhh… Look what fate brought in," Huan Ling spoke with difficulty, her breaths interrupted by the pain of excessive bleeding. Despite the dire situation, she maintained a creepy smile, a reflection of the sinister character she had always been.
Lin Xin, with the trembling knife in her hand, approached silently. The desire for revenge, the years of torment, and the pain her family suffered at Huan Ling's hands boiled within her. Huan Ling, still defiant, continued to speak between coughs of blood.
"You expect me to beg… for my life? This one will… never… ever beg. Especially to a whore like you," Huan Ling taunted, her words dripping with venom. The sinister smile persisted, revealing the twisted satisfaction she derived from Lin Xin's turmoil.
As Lin Xin stood over Huan Ling, the knife poised to strike, the dying matriarch continued to unleash her bitterness. "I guess it's not my fate. I was destined for greatness. I had everything. Then, he just brought you in… you… you did this… you did this!"
Pointing a bloodied finger at Lin Xin, Huan Ling accused her of being the cause of her downfall. Lin Xin, seething with anger, listened to the accusations that sought to place the blame on her. Huan Ling's rant reached a peak when she pointed out the twist of fate that Lin Xin represented.
"If only… if only he didn't find you in the forest… none of this would have happened!"
Lin Xin's anger reached its pinnacle, but she managed to maintain her composure. With a pitiful gaze, she looked upon the woman who had once tormented her. "Look at you, mother-in-law. Look what you've become. I did everything to be accepted by you. I swallowed my pride, let you torture me, humiliate me… Now, you have nothing. You killed your own son. You even called your own granddaughter a devil's spawn. Now, the Huan Family is no more."
The words hung in the air, a poignant reflection of the twisted fate that had entwined their lives.
Instead of succumbing to the urge for vengeance, Yun Che's words echoed in Lin Xin's mind. The truth dawned on her – seeking revenge on the dying Huan Ling wouldn't bring back her deceased husband. He had once advised her that the best revenge was finding happiness, a sentiment she had embodied.
Carrying the knife, Lin Xin turned away from the disfigured Huan Ling. Her priority now was preserving the happiness she had found, despite the old witch's malevolent presence. Huan Ling, frustrated by Lin Xin's departure, let out a sinister scream, hurling insults at her. "You… don't you dare walk away from me! You bitch. You wretch! If you weren't here, I would've killed my own son. Even in death's door, he still begs for your and that spawn's life!"
Lin Xin halted, her back facing the dying matriarch. The accusation about her husband shook Lin Xin to her core. She couldn't fathom the possibility of her husband begging for his life and pleading for her and their child. An uncontrollable rage surged within her as she questioned Huan Ling. "Is it true...?"
Huan Ling's response was a chilling chuckle, a taunt that fueled Lin Xin's anger. The matriarch falsely claimed responsibility for her husband's demise, manipulating the truth to place blame on Lin Xin. The accusation intensified Lin Xin's fury. "He begged for his life. You know what else? He begged me to spare you and that spawn. His kindness was annoying. I had his throat sliced just for being with you."
"Shut up…" Lin Xin muttered, her eyes narrowing with a mix of anger and pain. Seizing an opportunity to inflict more torment, Huan Ling continued to push her luck. "You're just a whore who ruined his life, and when that spawn is born...."
"Shut up!!!" Lin Xin's blood-curdling scream pierced the air as she lunged toward Huan Ling, the knife poised dangerously close to her throat. Despite the imminent threat, Huan Ling remained defiant, taunting, "There she is, the woman who killed her own husband. Finish me! Kill me! Take vengeance for him. Show the world who you really are!"
The atmosphere crackled with tension as Lin Xin grappled with her inner turmoil, torn between the desire for revenge and the realization that sinking to Huan Ling's level wouldn't bring back her beloved husband. The struggle played out in the silent exchange between tormentor and tormented, with the knife hanging in the balance of Lin Xin's wavering resolve.
The denial on Lin Xin's part escalated, but Huan Ling persisted, labelling her a killer and a woman who ruined her son's life. In the heat of the moment, Lin Xin almost succumbed to the desire for revenge, threatening to end Huan Ling's life. However, a flash of Xueli's face and a resonating memory of her husband stopped Lin Xin in her tracks.
Realizing that she wasn't a killer, Lin Xin dropped the knife and released Huan Ling. Her voice trembling with emotions, Lin Xin declared, "No... I loved him. He protected me when no one else would. He gave his life for me and Xueli. He gave us life, and I won't waste it. Killing you won't bring him back."
Huan Ling, infuriated by Lin Xin's refusal to retaliate, resorted to taunting her, calling her weak. Despite the provocation, Lin Xin walked away, determined to preserve the integrity of her actions. Huan Ling continued hurling insults, trying to provoke Lin Xin into violence, but karma intervened. The edge Huan Ling clung to collapsed, sending her plummeting into the abyss of the giant hole.
"Burn in hell," Lin Xin muttered with a mix of closure and determination as she walked back to Little White, her bangs covering the emotions etched on her face.
As they flew back to the central island, both were quiet. Sitting next to Yun Che's prone form, the man gently asked, "Xin'er…"
"Yun Che…" Lin Xin's voice quivered and her composure was on the verge of crumbling. The weight of recent events pressed heavily on her shoulders. Was it her fault that everything unfolded this way? Did her choices lead to the devastation wrought by Wrath, endangering innocent lives and nearly claiming Xueli's existence? The haunting echoes of Huan Ling's words gnawed at her resolve, stirring doubts within.
Yun Che, despite his weakened state, extended his arms to pull Lin Xin into a tender hug. "There, there… It wasn't your fault. You did the right thing. Your life isn't a sin, and neither is Xueli's. Your husband made the ultimate sacrifice, bestowing upon you and Xueli something the Huan Family could never give."
His words, spoken softly into her ear, carried a comforting warmth that cut through the turmoil within her. Lin Xin wept, releasing the pent-up emotions, yet finding solace in Yun Che's embrace. "Both of your lives—as a wife and a mother to a wonderful daughter. He gave his life so you could live. Then live, be happy, and make it your ultimate revenge against that old witch. Seeing you happy in the afterlife will be your greatest revenge."
As Yun Che spoke, Lin Xin began to grasp the profound truth in his words. While she might not be the type to seek vengeance in the traditional sense, the path to her happiness and contentment would be the most potent form of retribution against the torment she endured. With Xueli alive and well, Lin Xin felt a renewed determination to do whatever it took to ensure their happiness.
And so, with the quiet assurance of Yun Che's wisdom, the battle for family and honour came to a close.
Yet, somehow, he was certain he was forgetting something.
---------------------------
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the floating island:
"Someone, help! Yue-neesan, Mio-neesan, Retsu-sama!" The voice echoed, and it was none other than Kon, who had crash-landed at the island's edge after being swatted away like a pesky insect by Wrath for daring to attack its face with fireballs.
"Yuuki, seriously? You've forgotten about me? I risked life and limb to distract the dragon for you," Kon exclaimed in a comically desperate tone as he saw the white eagle fly passed him.
"You bastard!"
"And don't you dare leave me behind!" Kon shouted before transforming into a streak of light, prompting the eagle to give chase.
My latest chapter.... I am sorry for being late as I am quite busy with work. Anyway, just a few more chapters and the three year (literally) will come to an end.
