บท 52: A Bit of Background for New Kuroinu (Exposition Dumping!)

A long time ago, the continent had a sovereign called Nyx, and it named itself as a God of Death.

Nyx was out-worldly powerful, it could control the clouds and summoned heavy rain along with severe lightning strikes, it could freeze the ground and build a land of ice, it could stomp the ground and caused an earthquake, it could summon a magma out of the volcano...

Many brave warriors fell one after another, challenging Nyx, finally, no one's left dare to question its Divinity.

For years, the people, whether human, elves, dwarves, pallum, or the other were all living in fear, Nyx was no ruler, it was simply a bully, it would take what it wanted, and it would destroy what it wanted.

One day, the continent had a coming of two mysterious transmigrates, they appeared out of nowhere; one was a woman, and the other was a man; Larentia and Pangu.

They were weaker than Nyx but stronger than the people, Larentia and Pangu were able to resist Nyx, along with their respective followers, therefore, the continent was fighting back.

But even years after years, they were unable to kill Nyx, until finally Larentia and Pangu decided to sacrifice themselves to trap Nyx inside a seal, however, it was unknown where the two divines had trapped the God of Death, rumored said it was at Nyx's old palace, the Tartarus, and it was located at the most northern part of the continent, but many historians rejected that theory because the northern part of the continent was still an uncharted area while the war between Nyx with Larentia and Pangu happened in the southern area.

Regardless, after the sacrifice of Larentia and Pangu, their respective followers began to spread their influences, preaching about the divinity of Larentia and Pangu, the follower of Larentia formed an organization called the Church, while the follower of Pangu founded an empire, the future East Kingdom. Both of them also used different methods, the Church used the technique of evangelism, and the East Kingdom used the technique of conquering and defeat.

The reason for their different methods was also not without foundation, Larentia and Pangu were inherently different, Larentia didn't share her strength with her people, but she thought their wisdom and guide them to build a better society, and Pangu bestowed a bit of his strength toward his best disciple, guiding him to become the strongest warrior on the land, and his practice was taught from generations until now.

Ironically, according to some historians, Larentia's strength surpassed that of Pangu's, and the reason why Pangu looked for a disciple was to make them surpass Larentia, of course, the East Kingdom's people denied this.

Later years, history recorded which influences were having the biggest growth with their methods, and it turned out, the East Kingdom developed three times faster than the Church, the only thing that was stopping them was the West Kingdom.

The West Kingdom at that time was similar to the current Northern side of the continent, it was a wild and chaotic place, let alone it was mostly desert, even Nyx didn't have the interest to bully the people who lived there.

While the Church developed the Southern area and the East Kingdom developed the Eastern area, the past West Kingdom was fell behind; they had build houses from stones, the past West Kingdom still used plants and makeshift dirt.

So, then how the mighty East Kingdom could not conquer the West Kingdom? The answer laid on three races; the Vanadis, the Witches, and the Barbarian.

The Vanadis was a race with similar characteristic to the human, but they all had white hairs like snow, and what's more unique, the Vanadis had the inherent ability to control a mysterious element called 'Chaos', allowing them to possesses unique abilities.

The Witches were a race with a similar characteristic with the elves, but unlike the elves who loved peace, the Witches sought trouble, they were often spreading falsehood and caused war among tribes, their frequent victims were the Barbarian. The Witches was also a race with a strong affinity for using magic, together with Elves and Vampires.

The Barbarian was a race similar to Ogre, but they were smaller, they were simple-minded races but with high pride, their base of strength also three times stronger than humans, and two times stronger than Pallum.

These three races were the major reason why the East Kingdom hadn't dominated almost the entire continent, and the Church thanked them for that!
