บท 55: What Was That?
"Oh, anything that I would know?"
"I don't know, is your father a part of the kingdom's military?"
"Yes, he has a lot of men and fights for the king!" The girl had a massive look of pride on her face when she spoke about this; she clearly respected her father massively.
"Did he purchase any new weapons recently for his men?"
"Yes, how did you know? He ordered these things called spears; he also got a few crossbows, he even gave me a small one, see."
The girl pulled aside her cloak, and James saw a small crossbow strapped to her leg in a custom built mount. This was a smaller design with less power but was more suitable for hidden use and especially for a woman with the lower power requirement for reloading and carrying it.
The mounting was another thing James had designed and decided to bundle with the crossbow to make people feel that they were getting a better deal when they bought it. It also made the crossbow a lot more practical; it also had a built-in quiver for the thin bolts that were used with it.
It was one of James' favourite looking designs as it had a lot of detail and the target market for this crossbow was exactly young women from affluent families, hence it had an exquisite design, this also meant that he didn't produce many and that they were quite expensive, so he never expected to see one here.
"That's one of mine; I'm quite surprised to see you with one though they are quite expensive."
"You own dominators weapons!? That's insane, how did you get all your designs for the weapons? My father said they were unlike anything he had seen; he wouldn't stop praising them."
"Everything new in the shops stock was all designed by me alone; I just get my smiths to make it and sell it in the store."
"Bullshit, there's no way all that was you, it's just not possible!" This time Sebastian tried to call out James for lying about his business but was shut down when Joshua reaffirmed that James was the owner of the store and that he made the designs.
Although Joshua had no proof James made the drawings, with everything else he had seen him do it wasn't a far cry, so he backed James up.
"But my father said that whoever was designing these weapons was a visionary in the way of killing, how do you get all of these ideas?"
"I guess I'm just wired that way, no particular reason for it. But do tell your father I appreciate the compliment when we return." James was tired of this conversation as he didn't particularly want these people to know everything about him.
They knew too much already, and undoubtedly they would tell their parents when they go back so James would have to expect a few visits of people trying to cosy up to him, or even trying to scam him out of his businesses thinking he was naive because of his young age.
"Alright everyone, let's settle down for camp, we need some people to set up for the cooking and others to make a small camp for tonight. Do we have any volunteers?"
"I'll do the cooking if you don't mind" James really didn't want to have to taste the quality of cooking from these rich kids, they had probably never entered the kitchens in their houses having all their meals bought to them by servants. So decided to offer himself for the job straight away.
"Any other cooks that would like to help?"
"Yeah, I'll help him with this one." Daniel decided to volunteer himself as a show of good faith to James, the more he found out about him, the more he was glad he took a step back the other day and didn't let his pride get the better of him.
"Okay, you two go get everything ready then, we will prepare the sleeping bags and locate some water for the cooking and the nighttime."
"I've got the water covered as well; we just need some firewood."
"I don't want to drink your water; it feels wrong." One of the girls was not happy about the idea of drinking water from James. Clearly, she thought it came from his body.
"I pull the water from the vapour in the air; it doesn't come from me. If I had to relate it to something it would be closest to rainwater."
"What vapour in the air? How could there be water in the air?"
"Okay, I don't have the kind of time needed to give you an explanation about that so let's just leave it at I create the water with the magic in the air."
"I guess that's fine, as long as it isn't from your body." The girl seemed to find James explanation good enough to think it didn't come from him, but his answer had piqued the interest of the first girl who tried to speak to James and was ignored.
"If you want to apologise for ignoring me earlier then tell me what you meant when you said there was water in the air."
"I don't want to apologise to you." After saying this James turned around and walked to start creating a pit for the fire he would use for cooking, he also set up the frying pan he had gotten made before he left.
After he had everything set up he now just needed to wait for the firewood to be collected, while he was waiting he saw something that made massively piqued his interest.
They were currently setting up camp in a clearing they had found in a forest, they were surrounded by a canopy of trees on every side, and through the gaps in the trees, James had seen something moving.
He instantly activated the power of air that he had stored on his back causing a thrust effect shooting him forwards, he also used the power on his front to reduce the air resistance he was experiencing, James ran full speed towards the direction he had seen the movement.
He had moved that fast that it was almost like he disappeared from where he was standing, the only one affected was Daniel who was hit by the air pressure James had created, he was knocked over landing flat on his backside.
The girl from earlier was approaching James after spending a while venting her anger to the other girls, she was preparing to shout at James for being so rude, but before she could even get a word out, he was already gone flying off into the forest.

keyboardcoronary Hopefully will be writing like crazy over the next few days to create a backlog so releases should become a lot more stable soon, at least if I don't have the time to write a chapter then I will still have something to release.
On top of the release I mentioned earlier, I think that when I reach 500 collections(now 449) and 250k views(now 215k), I'll do a 10-15 chapter mass release to thank everyone who's followed along so far.
Should only be a few days til then so back to writing for now!
