I went back. To the bridge, the bridge where I felt at my lowest. I didn't want to leave and I thought about not leaving for the day. I don't know why I feel so connected to this place, its not like anything good happened up here. The cold metal touches my arms as I lean over to see the sight below. Everything seems so calm, so peaceful, so quiet up here and I don't want it to stop... ever. Minutes go by, and I the cold breeze hits my face making me want to close my eyes and enjoy this moment before its swept away. Like everything in my life, like all my good memories. My eyes shut and my thoughts stop.
''Well look who it is'' I hear from behind me.
Its her. Its Lola, in the exact same place were we first met.
''Lola right?'' I say even though I already was sure what her name was. Unlike the first time I saw her she's wearing a lot of black. Black shoes, black shirt, and black pants. Its like she walked through a cave of darkness and it never left her.
''That's me... Didn't expect to see you up here. Hopefully not for the same reason as last time. She says as she grins and looks at the ground. I don't know her well at all but I can tell something's wrong. Its like she screaming for comfort. That feeling's way too familiar.
''Nah I.... well I just like the view from here... Its comforting'' I say looking over the bridge.
I watch her from the corner of my eye as she walks closer to were i'm standing and begins to lean over the railing.
''Yeah me too....'' she says, letting out a sigh. We both stand in silence for a few minutes taking in the view.
''Not that its any of my business, but are you-'' I say before she cuts me off
''I gotta get going but promise me something Scottie?'' she grabs my arm as she says this.
''Umm sure ok''
''Promise me you'll walk off of this bridge in one piece''
''I promise'' I say, giving her a slight smile. She smiles back and starts to walk away.
That moment, that one moment when she touched my arm gave me chills. It brought me back to life.
