บท 13: . the ice tribe
I woke up to see an unfamiliar roof looming above me, looking around, I notice that the room is a wooden room, like the old fashioned medieval buildings.
I also noticed, I was alone is this room.
Sitting up, I try to stand but fall. My legs must still be healing from the cold. Taking more account to what was in the room, there was a small fireplace that was burning, a cloth hanging down off a wall with the symbol 'X' on. The floor was wooden and I was on a old but sturdy enough bed. Next to me was a wall with a window on, it was covered by a curtain so, me being me, I pulled the curtain back to see a whole village around me.
Buildings of the same design as the one I was in, snow covering everywhere and people walking around in winter clothes with fur linings.
The door creaked open and someone entered.
"hello, young lady," a female voice spoke up, my eyes didn't leave outside, "can you remember who you are?"
I looked at her.
"JJ," I say before turning back to the window. I heard her drag something across the floor and then stop.
"Hello JJ, I'm Ella," she introduces herself, "my brother and his friends found you and two boys in the snow a few days ago. You're the first to wake up."
I looked at her in confusion.
"what do you mean a few days ago?" I asked.
"They found you three days ago, since then you've been in an unwakeable state," she told me, the thing she was dragging was a small stool which she was now perched on.
"Three days?!" I exclaimed with shock, "wait, where am I?"
"You're in the ice tribe," Ella tells me before standing up and going to the door, "I'll get you some warm clothes and then take you to the clinic."
She left and didn't return until ten minutes with a bag, while I waited for her, I managed to move my legs around enough so that I could finally move around again. She then stood outside again. in the bag was a pair of brown ugg boots with blue jogging bottoms that had white fluff along the ankles, a thin, white, long sleeve shirt and an Alaskan blue coat that also had white fluff along the hood.
I changed out of the scratchy night gown someone had changed me into and into the new clothes. I left the old clothes and bag on my bed and then joined Ella outside.
"Let's go to the clinic now," she said before leading me through the streets of the village. There were dozens of children running around and having fun or walking with their family.
We reached a building, it was a large wooden building that had a very bad but noticeable cross on it. We entered and were lead by another woman to a room where Zeke and Tim were sleeping along with all four familiars.
I quickly walked over to Lucius and Fern were lying. There was also a small wolf and a snake, I took a guess that they were Zeke's and Tim's.
Fern woke up as soon as I got close and her little nine tail form changed into her little girl form.
"Miss JJ?" she asked, rubbing her eyes tiredly.
"Hey Fern," I greeted her. Ella quickly moved to our side.
"How do you have two familiars?" she asked, there were people in the door way who were also as interested in my answer.
"I don't, Fern is a familiar I saved from a man who stole her from her master. I came here to get stronger and learn how to use my power better so that I can one day, return her to her master," I replied as she leaned into me and stood up off the table she was sat on.
"I see..." she started, "what about those two?"
"They're also here to get stronger. We have an issue back at home and if we don't resolve it... well... let's just say it can lead to the destruction of the moderately peaceful life we have now," I replied, trying to think of a better way to word everything.
"I see..." she mumbled, "stay here with your friends."
She then left along with everyone else and I sat on a chair, Fern was watching the door with curiosity before she started playing with her tail.
"That woman was strange," she said, I nodded in agreement.
"She was rather, wasn't she?" I asked before propping my feet up onto the chair and hugging my knees. I hope the boys wake up soon.
