บท 10: CHAPTER-9 DISCIPLE?
There are 2 simple ways to earn points ,one is to complete a mission ,other is to publish a thesis ,report ,journal or anything navel in your branch. The details of your mission is available in your department. You can access the requirements of the next gate in your institute server "
Everyone was listening attentively and found that the institute was quite unique. Fin could have left the collage because he had his own path but he didn't want to disappoint his parents who invested so much in his early training .He didn't know about any mysterious organization as his parents didn't tell him anything .
After the introduction everyone bade farewell to their parents and guardians .Fin's father just patted his back and told "Do your best". Fin nodded without saying anything .He respected his parents so much so that he always wanted to make them proud. His parents wish was for him to become a great scientist and to do that this institute would be his first step.
He secretly thought ' if one day I became an immortal I have to help my parents to become immortals too as I don't want everyone around me to die one by one while I only enjoy being alive'. According to him there was no point in being alive if one can't even share ones happiness and sorrows with beloved ones .
Eva on the other side started crying and was unwilling to let go of her father. Her father patted her back and imitated "Do your best" from Fin's father but Eva didn't nod like Fin instead started crying louder with tears and snot pouring on her father's shirt like a storm has broken.
Jack became embarrassed as he didn't know what else to do. He looked at Michel for help . Michel only told "Eva you got Fin here don't worry .We will visit you often don't cry". Eva looked at Fin and gradually nodded .
While everyone was bidding their farewell , Joseph was waiting for his opportunity .When Fin and Eva's parents departed ,he gave signal to Fin to follow him which Fin complied since he didn't had any choice. They both reached a secret room which Joseph had already prepared in advance.
He asked expectantly "Fin are you willing to take me as your Master?"
Fin was rather stunned ,Fairy on his shoulder who was silent till then started laughing and told "A toad wants to eat crane's meat". Fin didn't know what to say as for as Fairy, at least she compared him to a crane ,which made him happy.
Fin bowed respectfully "Respected elder I have no idea what you teach and I am not sure whether it is compatible with me.". He tried his best to tactfully reject.
Organizing teacher blamed his own impulsiveness. He usually waited sometime before asking the student but this time it was an exception for Fin but he didn't blame Fin as it was normal to have a teacher who was compatible .
He didn't show his disappointment ,instead smiled "Alright you take your time and inform me after you made your decision .But let me tell you an advice ,here in this institute only knowledge and skills are valued ,so you better not think you can get all the resources with your own effort ."
Fin understood this more than anyone .Resources like access to books, skills would be easier to get if he was under the umbrella of some teacher . But he didn't want to decide impulsively and told respectfully "Thank you for the advice elder ,I will make a wise choice".
Organizing teacher nodded and left .Fin directly went to his room .He was surprised that it looked like a five star hotel room . He suddenly heard a voice "Welcome master Fin, I am Elina , your virtual maid ,you can ask me anything you want".
Fin didn't find it strange ,normal maids had long been replaced by virtual maids in the world. Fin told casually "Elina ,arrange me some hot water ,I am going to take bath in a moment".
Elina said "As you wish master".
Fairy and Spider were busy looking around the house .So he simply went to take bath .
After the bath he didn't talk to Fairy .He was behaving like there was no Fairy and Spider king .Fairy observed his behaviour and understood quickly. She quickly caste a isolation barrier and said "Fin what happened ? You can talk now ,no one would be able to hear our voice".
Fin got relived and said "Fairy I think there are cameras everywhere in this room .I am having the feeling like someone is watching my every moments .So I won't talk to you outside unless necessary".
Fairy laughed "This puny cameras can't regulate the princess .Don't worry after observing your current routine for few days I will come up with a plan .So that you can start your path of immortality".
For the next few days ,Fin went to everyplace in the campus ,of course within the outer gate 2 .He found out that there was a training place where one could sharpen ones unique skills. But to access it for one hour ,one needed to have 2 points .There was also a library with all sorts of books but to access important books again points were needed.
He searched the server to understand the requirements for the next Gate and found that
Outer Gate(G1) requirements
Complete 5 A grade missions .
Unique skill should be activated .
Grades in his or her branch should be minimum A+.
He was surprised to find that second part of the mission was already completed by him .He understood then that it should not be that easy to complete .So he asked Fairy in his room. Fairy explained the minimum years to activate the skill .
Fin was stunned "How could I activate my 2 skills in a single day?" .He murmured to himself.
Fairy heard it and froze for moment "What do you mean by 2 skills ,you also activated your invisibility?"
Fin nodded as he didn't have any reason to hide it from the Fairy. Fairy's pride completely vanished all of a sudden and secretly thought 'No wonder my father was always saying -there will always be another taller tree in the forest'.
Fairy said "You shouldn't tell this to anyone ,not even your parents or your little girlfriend otherwise you will bring yourself disaster".
Fin realized the gravity of the situation .He didn't bother to correct Fairy when she told Eva as his girlfriend because unconsciously he already made her as his future partner.
He was racking his brain to find the reason for his activation .He suddenly thought of that mysterious purple crystal. He wanted to tell it to Fairy but restrained and decided unless he had sufficient proof he shouldn't disclose it to anyone .
Since he had already completed partially the requirement of gate no 1 .He searched for the requirement of first inner gate (G3).The sequence of gates were OUTER (G2 ,G1)-INNER(G3,G2,G1)-CORE(G1) .
Inner Gate (G3) requirement.
Complete S rank mission.
Have mastery over ones skill.
Grades in his or her branch should be minimum A+.
He was surprised that there was only one S rank mission and He didn't worry about his skills or grades.
Fin decided to to enter inner gate as soon as he mastered his skill. He didn't want to waste his time in the mortal institute. For the time being he didn't have any points to access anything in the campus . So he decided to do a A grade mission for gaining an experience.
When he was about to head towards Eva's room , he found Jessica, who was heading towards his room. He stopped all of a sudden and asked "Hi Jessica ,what brings you here".
Jessica was wearing a cream top and a black jeans . She gave a cute smile "I was heading to the library .I was wondering if you could tag along".
After seeing her cute smile Fin couldn't reject her but he realized he didn't have any points . He said embarrassingly "Sorry Jessica , I don't have any points."
Jessica found it unusual . She thought he was a tycoon with lot of connections in school but now she realized it must be a coincidence. She wanted to use him to get as many free books as she could but her little plan seemed to have failed.
Her tone drastically changed "Lets catch up another time then .Take care". She didn't wait for Fin to say anything and directly left . After a decade she would realize this incident and regret for her short sighted vision but it would be too late at that time.
Fin didn't know the little plan in her mind. He thought she must have had some urgent work in the library so he didn't mind her sudden change in attitude. Then he directly went with Eva to take their first mission .
There was a big building with bold letters on the outside 'The Department of missions'. Many people outside were distributing pamphlets. While some had installed small stalls to recruit people .Being curious ,Eva asked one girl who was attracting attention of the people "Sister can you tell me what is going on?"
Girl who was attracting attention was stunned by Eva's beauty .She didn't became jealous instead became excited to find perfect candidate for attracting attention "Little sister are you new here ? .. ..Got it from your expression I can tell without blinking my eyes .To enter missions in gate 2 one need to have a team of at least 5 members and we are short of a member .Can you join us?"
Eva was surprised and said directly "Sorry sister I need to consult my friend first" without waiting for other party's reply ,she quickly went to Fin and told everything .
Fin understood the situation and decided to browse the teams which suit them best before making his final decision. Girl who just got dumped by Eva went directly to where Fin and Eva stood and asked with a smile "Brother ,if you are looking for a team please join us ,we already have 4 members and we can go to the mission directly after you join".
Fin observed her for a moment , she looked slightly older than Fin but with her pink top and black jeans ,she looked very beautiful . He asked her directly "I want to know the requirements of the missions first " .
Girl with the pink top said with a cute smile "Certainly ,here you go" .She gave him the brochure and the details of her team members .
Fin and Eva quickly went through the details . Being in the research and development branch all of the missions were somehow related to research . All the members in her team were seniors with 2 years experience .Fin and Eva looked at each other and nodded to each other .
"Alright we will join"
Girl with the pink top was not surprised . She didn't invite them because they could contribute to the team as she knew they were only newbies and didn't have any experience in the missions. Her only target was Eva who could attract talents to the team "I am Lily ,what are your names ?"
"I am Eva , he is Fin . Sister lily where is your team?" Clearly Eva became little excited for her first mission .
Lily took them to the remaining team members .There were 2 guys and one girl waiting inside a small stall. Like lily all 3 people got stunned for a moment when they saw Eva and quickly recovered .
Lily introduced on by one "This is Riaaz ,2nd year and our captain". Fin observed him closely , Riaaz wore white coat just like everyone in R&D branch. He was well built with a serious look on his face .Riaaz seemed like he didn't care as to who joined his team ,he just nodded to the newcomers .
"This is Mona, 2nd year and she is our team's brain". Mona shyly glanced at Fin and Eva and nodded. If she removed her large glass and did some touch up she could be as beautiful as lily .
"This is Rohan ,2nd year and our team's muscle". Rohan had a friendly smile to Eva and Fin and he looked little fat and wore a chubby smile .He quickly patted Fin and said "We will be brothers from now on".
Riaaz said suddenly "Lets not wait anymore. Lets go to our first mission". Everyone agreed and went to the mission department.There were many teams taking missions .Wherever the Fin team went it attracted lot of attention because of Eva and Lily. Many 3rd years directly asked Eva for a date but Eva rejected them all like shooing crows.
Riaaz took a mission relating to researching a secret place .Team members didn't have any objections .
Every team was transported in a helicopter for their destination and later picked them back when the team members made a satellite call to the department . Everyone arranged all the things necessary for the mission like emergency first aid , dry rations ,water etc and boarded the helicopter.
