It was already competitive enough, all of them trying to get Mua Kong to look at their daughters. Throwing commoners in the mix would only make things worse.

Many of those in the upper parts of society, including the palace ministers didn't think that commoners would catch Prince Mua Kong's attention, but they were familiar of Mua Kong's history. He picked up an ordinary commoner with no background as a wife. He was so protective of her, he refused to let anyone see her, never introducing her to anyone, fearing that people will find someway to cause trouble for her.
