Chapter 6: Path of the Asura!

[Mission Completed!]

[Completion Rate: 90%]

"Tch, that was a perfect kill..."

[Negative, had the host immediately attacked the attack would have been more efficient than the way that the host had completed the task, it also would've involved less waiting and conformed to the Path of the Asura, direct frontal confrontations.]

Left speechless by the so called systems explanation Yue had no retorts left instead focusing on the messages which had appeared in the "Darkness" of his mind.

[Eco-location (Level 2)]

[Skill Range: 2 Meters]

Eco-location now provides a clearer image of the surrounding locations and has been extended in reach – images can now be roughly interpreted and faces will have clear defining features for ease of identification, it should be noted that images will still not be clear and it is possible that the host will misidentify someone without proper training.

[Suggestion: Practice prudently]

[Reward Granted: Suppressed Rage]

[Suppressed Rage (Level 1)]

[Skill Duration: 24 Hours]

[Skill Cool-down: 26 Hours]

To become an Asura is the lose oneself to murderous rage, for 24 hours the host maintain rationality and the ability to reason and think logically – once 24 hours are up the host's murderous intent will be released and will go on a killing spree attacking anyone in the surroundings for the next 2 hours.

This skill will be automatically activated after the cool-down is over and the host will regain control over his mind.

'24 hours, the skills level is only at level 1 however – if its leveled up maybe it's possible to increase the skill duration time..' Yue's mind was in disarray, it hadn't even been an hour since he was 'reborn' in this body yet he was already in danger.

"What are you?" The question was directed to his mind, he had a rough idea of what this 'thing' was but it'd be better to hear the explanation from the source.

[We are the Asura System.]

"We?"

[We are the collective of predecessors, you are merely one of many. Our purpose is to cultivate the True Asura.]

"Why me? Why choose me?"

[It is our understanding that the current host is under the impression that he is a unique organism? We did not choose you, you choose us – your rage chose us and we decided to answer its call.]

"Are there more systems then? More people like me?

[We do not understand why the host is asking such a question, there are immeasurable dimensions and universes - your rage is nothing in comparison to the suffering some have suffered through, your talent in the Path of the Asura is only medium grade in comparison to others we have discovered, but yes – there are.]

Yue spent the next couple minutes questioning the system on its functionalities and its abilities the full list was lay out before him soon enough.

[Status]

[Missions]

[Upgrades]

[Chat]

[Path of the Asura]

"System, what are the purposes of [Chat] and [Path of the Asura]?"

[Chat is what one would image, it is a interdimensional network between the potential Asura, your identity will remain hidden and it is suggested that one does not share their true name or their current location – however it allows you to co-operate with other candidates on Group Missions.

Path of the Asura forces you to enter the state of murderous rage prematurely before your duration has ran out, in exchange the host is given a cultivation of two major realms above his own but will lose rationality.]

Ignoring [Path of the Asura] Yue focused on the functions of the chat, "Group missions?" [The host does not currently meet the requirements to access the chat or inquire about the functions of chat, when the host matures the feature will naturally open – we suggest you desist any further questioning and focus on the task at hand]

Yue could've sworn that the system sounded annoyed at the barrage of questions that Yue had thrown at it but he also knew the system was right, his time was limited and it was best to move before he was caught next to the body of his dead 'master.'

From the memories of the previous owner of the body integrating with his own Yue knew he was within Hong city, a sub-city of the Mu Dynasty.

'No idea whether this is a dimension or universe however, this could either be hard or easy depending on which it is.' In his heart Yue was hopping, begging! That it was a dimension; it was easier for one to gain control of a dimension than it was for one to gain control of an already established Universe – just fighting the current powerhouses would be exhausting. A dimension was equivalent to one Galaxy, stars and planets would potentially exist within with sentient life, it wasn't unheard of for Dimensions with no intelligent life to be created however. A universe was comprised of several of these Galaxies yet it was not the true 'Universe' however it still created numerous top-tier experts.

It was lucky to Yue that the house he was in currently was located near to the city gates, the only problem now was to sneak out undetected – if he was caught he would have his handprints cross-referenced in the cities database and his identity as a slave would immediately be exposed by the memory crystal, he mentally set one of his objectives as destroying those records.

Moving on the streets outside the house posed little difficulty, the previous soul inhabiting the body had never seen what the roads looked like or the direction which he had to go in order to reach the gates, he only knew from conversations between his 'master' and friends that they were located close – the poor boy had since then never stepped a foot outside of the house since the day he was brought, this led to Yue's skin having an ungodly paleness akin to that of a corpse.

Having no directions in mind Yue tried to listen and look for horses, using a combination of both his hearing and limited sight he managed to locate what he believed to be merchants with any luck they would be travelling away from the city, towards the city gates.

Quietly following behind them, having already ripped off the cloth that had been wrapped around his eyes in order to not arouse suspicion – it was lucky that his eyes had no visible wounds and were completely normal apart from his own lack of vision or he may have drawn attention to himself walking around 'blindfolded' he listened in on the conversations around him with interest.

"Another year and the whole dynasty will collapse, this'll be our last trip to the city of Hong in the coming years, make the most of the time you have here now!" The voice came from the man at the head of the group.

"Keep your voice down! Even if what you said is true the guards still have the authority to execute you on grounds of treason you drunken idiot!" A woman's voice came from the caravan before a hand pulled him inside. Yue could only imagine the harsh scolding he was receiving at that moment, with a soft chuckle he turned around and started in the opposite direction, this time sure that he was going towards the gates.

…..

20 minutes later..

'Being blind is more irritating than I'd first thought hahaha…' Somehow he'd become lost again, it really was embarrassing for someone like him who'd once been a powerhouse to become lost in a mortal city.

The only upside to being lost is that [Eco-location] had been leveled-up twice, for only 20 minutes he comforted himself with knowing that at least he'd accomplished something, he could now 'see' up to 4 meters away and could distinguish faces clearly; it was lucky that the ability had leveled up or else he might've been stuck in an awkward situation where he misidentifies someone that really would've been a problem.

"What do we have here Greg? Little lamb lost his mummy?" The voice was sickeningly cold, it was obvious the man was up to no good but Yue didn't want to get into a fight he wasn't sure he could handle in his current physical state.

He been secretly been clicking his tongue trying to make out the two men's faces, both were hunched it was likely that both either spent their days over a desk, a hopeful idea indeed, however it was more likely that both were thieves, the hunched backs came from countless hours crouched down creeping around homes . Yue wouldn't cross off murder from their list of activities either.

"What are my chances of winning?" He muttered under his breath. "What was that lad? Speak up, we didn't hear that." [Both possess Cultivation Realms of 2nd Mortal Tier – the host currently possesses no visible cultivation, chances of success are deemed to be 5% with the usage of a surprise attack.]

'Dammit, hopefully they aren't looking to kill or I'm in trouble this time.' "Sorry Sir, I was just saying that I'm lost, can you point me in the direction of the gate?" The man had obviously not expected that response surprise crossed his face before it was replaced with the cold look prior. "Sure lad, just hand over your belongings and I'll point you on your way." The man patted the dagger on his belt whilst he talked, "You sure 'bout this Phil? The kid don't even have proper clothes, how's he going to have any valuables?"

The man, Phil, examined Yue in more detail. Nothing escaped his eyes, not even the slight cloudiness in his eyes which normal people would never have notice. "Blind ain't you lad?" Yue's heart skipped a beat, being blind had its advantages and disadvantages – he could use it as an excuse should he need to escape but if someone noticed him walking around normally despite his disability it might draw questions, does he have a treasure that allows him to see? Is it a technique which allows him sight?

There were many blind experts in the city, they'd surely pay a fine price for a technique like that, "Hand over the goods kid and no one gets hurt." Phil inched closer to where Yue was standing, making no effort to conceal his movements, "I'm sorry Sir but I don't know what you're talking about!" Yue tried to play dumb, hopefully that would fool him, but the system didn't seem to want him to leave them in one piece.

[Mission Granted: Kill the Thugs]

[Mission Failure Penalty: Host will lose [Eco-Location (Level 4)]]

[Mission Rewards: Mortal Tier 1 Cultivation Base]

[Please complete to the best of your ability Host, extra rewards shall be given for better completion rates.]

Whilst Yue was reading the new notifications, Phil had already moved in front of him. Lifting Yue into the sky with one hand he pulled the dagger with his other and held it at Yue's throat.

'Dammit how am I meant to escape this?! You damn system!' "Kid I'm only going to ask once more, where are the goods?" There was a sickening grin on his face, it was sweet yet cold, it was the type of grin he'd seen on murderers when they were trying to extort their victims to only kill them after.

[We suggest the host activate [Path of the Asura] It will ensure the hosts survival.] 'This was your damn plan all along wasn't it? Giving me that mission, it was convenient that I lost my way and it just so happens that both of these thugs are two major realms above me?!' Yue screamed in his head, he knew it was illogical for the system to have influenced the world around it however he couldn't trust the damn thing, the mission clearly left him no way out.

"You're trying my patience kid! If it wasn't for me being interested in whatever you're hiding you'd already be dead. Now answer me!" Phil got more forceful with his grip, the dagger inched closer to his neck and threatening to draw a line of blood should he even move.

Through gritted teeth Yue stared at the man with hatred, blind range and hatred. He had to die, he needed him to die. "[Path of the Asura]" The words came naturally to him like a part of his soul they were just 'there.'

He blacked out…

….

"Hey kid, wake up!" Phil kicked Yue's body after dropping him to the ground, "Hahaha your ugly mug scared the kid into fainting!" Phil shot a glance at his partner making stabbing motions with his dagger. "Kid you better stop faking or I'm going to make you wish you were dead."

Yue's eyes shot open in that instant, the faint cloudiness with his usual pupils no longer there, instead replaced by pure crimson light radiating from his eye sockets. Like the eyes of the devil they stared into Phil's soul before Yue's right hand moved without a sound and swiftly grabbed onto Phil's face, "Please stop! Stop it!" Pain had already made him forget his previous actions, he was now begging for his life yet like a devil Yue crushed his head.

Despite being at the same realms and there being two of them and only one Yue it was inevitable for them to ever win, first the attack was a surprise and he immediately instilled fear into his enemy and second 'Greg' the partner was too shocked to move, making the moment Yue cut his throat seamless.

But it wasn't over, like an animal Yue's body stood covered in blood – the rage in his eyes and the killing intent radiating from him not yet wavering even slightly, he wanted to kill, he needed to kill. HE HAD TO KILL. 'KILL KILL KILL!' He let the rage consume him, then the blood flowed….

Sorry this was a bit rushed, I only have a couple of days before I'm back at school so I don't have control over when I can write as I'm sorting my work out - need to make sure I have everything ready!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed ~ Aileus! :)
