บท 23: Waking Up

Seeing her that her cousin was awake, Li Yin asked, "Elder brother Fuji, are you okay?"

Li Fuji was confused. Why was there so many people in his room? Also, this room seemed to be a bit bigger than what he remembered. Plus, what's with all the machines? And why was there a line going through his arm?

'Damn...I was only asleep for a bit. Why does it feel like April Fools? I don't remember there being any tradition for hazing a new family member. So where am I? Did I sleepwalk or something?'

Everyone could see the questioning look on Li Fuji's face but gave him some time to take everything in, they didn't want to cause him any shock as he just woke up. But as they continued to look at him, it appeared that he thought that something was weird.

But to Li Yin, she thought that her elder cousin may be hurt somewhere, so she asked again, "Elder brother Fuji, are you still hurt somewhere?"

Snapping out of his little daze, Li Fuji finally replied, "Huh? No, I'm okay. Why is everyone here? I don't remember anyone saying anything about a big family breakfast. Also, where am I? And what's with the line going through my arm?"

Everyone was struck, it seems like their little Fuji really didn't know what was going. You could even hear dry coughs here and there. It was quite funny, everyone was worried whether he would wake up and here all he could think about was whether this was some prank or not.

"Elder brother, don't you remember? Mom called you down for breakfast but you never came down. So. she was worried you were caught up in your new VR pod, not being able to hear her calling. So she came up to your room to call you down. But when she saw you were sleeping and waking you up didn't seem to work, we took you to the hospital." Li Yin explained to him.

"Oh, I see. Wait...huh? How long was I asleep?"

"Elder brother, it's already 3 PM. You have been asleep since 8 AM, and no matter what we did, you wouldn't wake up...Were you by chance having...one of those...?" Speaking up to there, she blushed and lowered her head.

"What? No, what are you talking about? It felt like maybe 1 hour at most. And I was having a normal dream thank you very much *ahem*." Li Fuji declared.

'Well...at least...normal in some sort of sense. That...I don't know what to make of that.'

"Fuji'er, is there something wrong? You seem to be quite out of it. The doctors should be back soon, we'll have them take a look at you to make sure everything is okay." The old man spoke, and as he finished, a bunch of panting doctors with one man casually leading walked in. It was obvious the casually walking man was Butler Wang, he truly had his methods.

As the doctors entered, everyone gave them the floor and let them run their tests and check up. After some time, the same doctor who represented the bunch of them before spoke, "Old master Li, young master Fuji's condition is all perfectly fine. We are actually surprised he woke up even faster than expected. He should have no troubles what so ever, just feed him some food and he should be good to go."

"Very well, thank you all. If you follow Butler Wang out, he will settle all payments with you all. This old man thank you all for rushing over here with such haste."

"Haha, it is our honor Old master Li. If there is nothing else, we will take our leave now."

With that, the room once again was left with only Li Fuji and those of the Li Clan. Seeing everyone look at him, he knew he could only either hide what he saw or make up a lie. But he knew that the twelve never forbid him from telling what he was told, so he saw no point in hiding anything from family. Especially when he saw how much they cared. To him, he saw it as just a minor matter. But it felt like life and death to them.
