I quickly swim to the edge as the large thing begins breaking the surface of the water. My heart is pounding in.. fear.. awe.. and wonder. The large creature was a dragon.. a very large dragon and It was glowing just like the water. No, the water was glowing because of the dragon.
The dragon's large body takes up nearly the entire pool of water and I wonder again if the cave has a ceiling or if it's just open.. the dragon's large body has no problem fitting. I hold on as waves wash over me soaking me completely as water falls from his large body and down his shinning scales.
The fairies fly higher above the dragon's head before slowly flying away. The large blue and silver dragon stretches before looking at Fig and I. "I was wondering where the spirit power was coming from.. tell me little one, what are you doing in my cave." The dragon's voice was deep and booming snapping me out of my trance.
I tried to stand but found that I was being held by the glowing water. "I.. we.. sigh.. My friend Fig is hurt or sick.. I'm not sure but I thought that this water might help. I didn't know this was your cave.. I'm sorry for intruding.." I say and I'm happy to know that even if my voice is small at least it isn't shaking.
"Hmmm, if you were able to enter the cave then you are allowed to use the water but I must ask.. what are you? I am an ancient guardian, one of the few left in this world from a time when everything came to be and I have never seen anything like you." He says in his deep powerful voice and I sigh in relief. So he wasn't going to squash me like a bug..
"I am human.. or was. I was somehow brought here by lightening and the old trees led me to a water source that was coming out of an old dead tree.. I drank the water and began to change. I don't really know what I am.." I say honestly and watch as he scratches his large belly while thinking.
"I guess even this old one can learn new things but I will tell you one thing.. that your little familiar here is dying." My heart nearly stops as I look back to Fig's sleeping form. I look up to the large dragon with pleading eyes "Can you please save him? I'll do anything, please!" I can feel my eyes burning with tears and the old dragon begins to shake his head.
