Jale Bate has a petite, underdeveloped body that you'd mistake him for a young kid from afar. At 16 years old, he's the prodigy that was known as the youngest person to get an alchemist title. Like most alchemist, he too desires to discover the truth of nature and after moving to Neverwinter, his knowledge continuously expands and his perception of the world changes with every new things he learned. The orange book was truly god's creation. His time here was fruitful and has never bored him but even with his busy schedule, he would some times reminisce some deeds he was not proud of. Back in the old King's city, before His Majesty Roland's attack, he would sometimes indulge in guilty pleasure on his day offs. He would hire professionals or even fallen nobles to take care of his behind. This degenerate act was developed when he was young as his mentor often abused him but after he got admitted as an alchemist, his mentor suddenly disappeared. This guilty pleasure can never be accomplished in Neverwinter as those kind of jobs doesn't exist and no one is desperate enough to fall for this kind of business. He was reluctant to turn over to the serfs outside the city due to possible rumors that might tarnish his reputation as an alchemist.
Jale walked down the streets as he saw the passing platoon of the first army walking towards the castle district and at its front was a two meter tall man with a well defined physique. When the man looked at him, he felt that nothing was impossible for a desperate man and he would soon get a chance but nothing was without consequences.
...
"Trust in me" Edith grasped Evelyn's hands. "I'll be sure to help you in every way i can and soon His Majesty would once again praise you just like with the Chaos Drinks".
"Then could you help me get an audience with His Majesty?" Evelyn Inquired.
"Now would not be the best time. He is busy with the war effort with the Kingdom of Dawn and the east of Graycastle." Edith rejected Evelyn's request and followed it up with another plan. "I suggest that we complete the product for now so when the time we'd present the product, it would be complete and ready for production."
"For now you just have to follow my suggestions. First would be to create a list of all customers that already bought the drinks"
"Um, I'm not sure i remember then all and what are they for?"
"Of course we'd need to minimize the damage from the side effects" Edith explained. "It would be bad for the product's reputation if rumors spreads from the old customers".
"O-Okay"
"That's a good girl. I'm going away for now and would gather contacts so we can improve your drink as soon as possible. Take a rest and freshen your mind. I'll be expecting more from you soon."
Edith left and Evelyn was once again alone in the counter and thought
"Miss Edith is a really nice woman but there's this unknown feeling of dread whenever I talk to her"
Edith Kant learned a lot of things from His Majesty and with the vast information that Neverwinter produces, she's like as sponge that absorbs them continuously. One of the best ideas he learned was that everything that witches can do, mortal men can do it too. Given enough effort and support, those seemingly impossible tasks would soon materialize.
Though her schemes reach far and wide and is hard to discern, she would never make anything that would negatively affect Neverwinter as this city was the foundation of the future, this city in it's almost nil history has already surpassed cities that has been built for hundreds of years. Even the Taquilla witches are far behind in technology. Sometimes she would also want to enter Roland's dream world as it is rumored to be the place of origin where Roland got all his ideas. How mind boggling would it be to see a different world, from this.
After using her bike to travel for a few minutes, she passed at the entrance of the 4th residential district and stopped in front of a 2 floor house with the number 420 on its door.
After knocking, she heard a rattle inside the house and soon after, the door opened slightly just enough for someone to peek.
Edith talked soon after "I've come bearing good news".
The man then opened the door as she entered. Though it was early morning, house was dim as every window was covered with cloth.
"Any news from Lord Banach?" The man inquired after he closed the door.
"Yes I have and also another thing of concern. Let's start with Lord Banch's news. I've heard that He was recently contacted by the Taquilla witches to organize a perimeter between the Dawn and Wolfheart. It's most likely to intercept any runaways after His Majesty Roland invaded Dawn"
Edith spurred out secrets like it was common knowledge but the man did not flinch from the bizarre information.
"And that's not for free" Edith smiled. "I need to handle some questionable goods for the coming months and I don't want those pesky patrols to sniff into my business."
"Then it shall be done"
"good"
Throughout the day, Edith contacted different organizations that has already gone underground far from the security bureau's radar. On normal occasion, contacting them proves to be difficult as they usually contact through different channels but now with Sylvie staying in the front lines and Nightingale fully dedicated herself to His Majesty's security and with Vanter's patrol getting taken care of, a gap has been made and she was not one to let it pass.
"Coo" A pigeon flew above Edith when she was riding back to the City Hall and she immediately thought of something: How convenient is it to hide contraband inside a witch's magical pocket?
Edith was full of smiles today as everything seems to fall under its place.
