Neither Emily nor the woman officer knew that the aura of melancholy around Kiba was for a different reason.

A few hours ago, he had recalled the words of Elissa. Something that made him feel melancholy...

"I'm glad you're here!" Emily said with affection.

She recalled all their meetings until now. The embarrassing police interview, the witty and philosophical conversation during dinner where he changed her views on the world, the ways he played with Morgan, and now this.

The woman officer looked in disbelief as Emily tightly hugged Kiba. Emily had forgotten the existence of everyone as she wrapped her hands around him.

All she cared about was returning the affection this man had shown her! She didn't think he was her ideal type of man, nor did she believe there would be any meaningful relationship in the long run.

Yet she hugged him.
