The fork slipped from Charlotte's fingers, clattering onto her plate. nearby diners turned, drawn by the sudden sound.

"I'm sorry," Charlotte stuttered, her eyes darting down.

Sebastian rose instantly, concern growing on his face. "Are you okay?" he asked.

Charlotte forced a light smile. "It just slipped. I'm fine."

"Alight." Sebastian said, scanning her before returning to his seat.

Charlotte resumed eating, but soon paused, staring at Sebastian. "So, I can still plan your company's gala event without being tied to our agreement?"

Sebastian nodded, his lips pressed into a thin line.

"May I ask why?"Charlotte's voice cracked.

Sebastian's gaze dropped, his lips biting back emotions. "Well..." He paused, meeting Charlotte's eyes. "You've accompanied me for months, yet I've failed to capture your heart. I'm conceding defeat." A faint, forced smile crossed his face.
