บท 21: Saving Mu Yang's Sister
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the building, a car stops at a safe distance from the zombie horde.
"That scream wasn't my sister's voice. I see signs of life inside the building. Maybe she's still alive there," Mu Yang says to his friends.
Mu Yang appears to be able to sense someone's presence within a certain radius, even through walls.
"Amazing. We just need to wait until the zombie horde thins out a bit before we move," Jiang Zhi commands.
"Guys, it's gotten dark very quickly. Can we use explosives to clear a path?"
"Maybe, but the damage caused would be enormous! Blowing up the building might be fun, but we don't want to destroy the entire surrounding area! Unless you want to try gathering the zombies in an open field or something."
"You're kidding, right? That's like asking me to tame a lion with bare hands!" Zhang Rui shakes his head.
"Ah, forget it, it's impossible!"
As the horde of zombies gradually thins out, they prepare to drive the car into the building's yard. It's a plan that Shen Yize considers the most perfect to save Mu Yang's sister.
"Well, we don't need to bother going inside. Just honk the horn and Mu Yang will wait below. Meanwhile, I'll find a car for us," Shen Yize proposes a plan.
"Are you serious? Shen Yize, it's better if we all stay together and look for a car after they come down," Jiang Zhi hesitates slightly with Shen Yize's plan.
"Ah, that would take too long."
"Alright, then I'll go with you."
"You wait in the car and watch around while Mu Yang gives instructions to his sister," Shen Yize reassures Jiang Zhi.
There, Jiang Zhi looks at Shen Yize with great concern about what he's about to do. While Jiang Zhi knows that Shen Yize is strong, possibly stronger than him, Jiang Zhi believes this plan is too dangerous. However, he can't think of a better plan in this desperate situation. On one hand, he has to give commands and prepare to pick up Mu Yang and his sister if this plan succeeds.
"Yes, Shen Yize has a point. If you're that worried, I'll go with him. Besides, my super strength might come in handy," Zhang Rui reassures Jiang Zhi while patting his shoulder.
"The parking spot isn't far from here, don't worry."
"Sorry for dragging you all into this mess," Mu Yang feels guilty towards his friends.
"Ah, it's alright. We can use all the help we can get against those zombies."
Jiang Zhi honks the car horn near the building's entrance to get their attention after stopping nearby.
"I'll go in and call them. Oh, by the way, can I borrow some more weapons?" Mu Yang requests to be prepared.
"Of course. Zhang Rui, give those weapons to Mu Yang for his sister."
"But there are only two left."
"Don't worry, just give them to him," Shen Yize shouts.
"Okay." Zhang Rui hands the weapons to Mu Yang.
Now Shen Yize gives the command. "Let's go quickly, we need to move fast. The horn might have attracted some sound-sensitive zombies."
As Shen Yize and Zhang Rui leave, Mu Yang enters the ground floor of the building and calls out to his sister.
"Hey Mu Xiao, it's me, your brother Mu Yang!"
"Wow, it's really him! Bo Hueming, come out and meet your long-lost brother."
"Seriously? You're not pulling my leg, are you? Wasn't your brother supposed to have died in that mall incident?"
"Mu Xiao!" Mu Yang's shout continues.
"No, he's alive and well. It's really him. I'll come out, but if you're too scared, you can stay here," Mu Xiao tells Bo Hueming, who still seems uncertain.
"Alright, alright, I'm coming too!"
"Mu Yang, is that really you?"
"Yes, it's me! Hurry down, we need to get out of here as fast as possible!"
Mu Xiao rushes down the stairs, but the unexpected happens. She slips due to the slippery floor, exacerbated by her haste.
"Hey Mu Xiao, be careful!"
"How are you? Are you okay?" Bo Hueming asks with concern.
"Not good, I've sprained my ankle."
"Hold on, I'll carry you up."
The car horn sounds again, this time more urgently.
"Hey, hurry up! The zombies are heading our way!" Jiang Zhi says from inside the car.
The atmosphere is tense, where they have to move quickly before the zombies arrive.
"Get in the back seat, right now!" Mu Yang instructs.
"Really? There's nothing else around here?"
"No, it's just the two of us."
"Okay then, let's find Shen Yize and Zhang Rui first, alright?"
As their cars round the corner, having left the parking lot, another car speeds towards them. Zhang Rui quickly rolls down the window and shouts.
"Damn it, Jiang Zhi, there are so many zombies all over the parking lot! Let's escape and find a safe place to spend the night! Shen Yize warned us about this, guys!"
"Yeah, let's go!"
The two cars move together, quickly distancing themselves from the building now overrun by countless zombies.
"Hey, Zhang Rui, Shen Yize, do you know a safe place to spend the night?" Jiang Zhi asks.
"I don't know, that's my answer and Shen Yize's!" Zhang Rui answers with a grin.
"I know, no need to sugarcoat it!"
"Seems like Zhang Rui is worried you might not understand," Mu Yang adds.
"Understand what?"
"Don't know."
"Oh, hey, I know a place where we can spend the night safely." Bo Hueming suggests from a sudden thought.
"Really?"
"Yes, my aunt's bakery storage room is safe. Not too far from here." Bo Hueming explains. To the best of his knowledge, that place should still be safe from zombies. And, of course, it can be used for spending the night.
"If that's true, let's go. Show us the way," Jiang Zhi agrees. Since he couldn't think of another place and has to trust Bo Hueming.
Jiang Zhi then shouts through the car window to inform Shen Yize.
"Hey Shen Yize, we found a place to spend the night. Come on, follow us! Don't get lost!"
"Got it! Hey, watch out for the big tree ahead, don't damage your cars!"
"Yeah, you too... make sure to be careful. I'm not used to being so far from you!" Jiang Zhi retorts to Shen Yize in this moment.
Shen Yize merely rolls his eyes. "Ah, why does that sound so nauseating?"
