He was about to leave but hesitated. If he simply fled, he likely wouldn't fulfill the synchronization conditions.

Soviet Union was also called Russian empire before so saying “Russia? No” is, strictly speaking, correct but not really

"Russia? No, they are Soviet wizards, a very vast wizarding country. Well, let's finish exchanging the golden galleon quickly and go to Diagon Alley."

Just like muggles view tech, including protagonist

They lacked curiosity and the desire to explore, taking such a magical thing for granted and treating it as a mere tool, as long as it was sufficient, seemingly never thinking to explore its principles.

One-sided story. Two lone figures but one is heroic and the other is indifferent

On the ground, only one warrior stood with his sword, and his cloak that was torn but still fluttering behind him vaguely showed his perseverance. He was covered with wounds and dirt, but he did not fall. He was like a lone hero, facing the overwhelming enemy with courage and dignity.

If you have a voice in your head insistently telling you to do something its not a good choice to just unconditionally listening to it

But in the dark, there seemed to be a voice constantly urging him in his mind to enter the world behind the mirror, otherwise, he would regret it for life. This intuition that was almost like a prophecy was so irresistible that it prevented Bryan from wanting to turn around and leave.

You also had to take payment but evidently our guy is not good at doing such simple things as making magical contracts with “beautiful druidic woman”

He had to be so careful because this Druid Priestess beside him who was bathed in vague light and shadow hid too many secrets in her heart. He had to guard against her!

You like quietness mr Watson so I will create some noise

"I heard from Mrs. Reagan and the children that you solved the problem of these little guys going to school. It's quite amazing. Those officials and equally greedy staff in the same school who are sitting on their jobs are not easy to deal with. How did you do all this?"

Voodoo doll transfers damage. How he’s building a dam if he’s not resisting the curse but just transfers it?

To illustrate, the curse of the Dark Lord was like a rushing river. Bryan's way of resisting the curse was like building a dam on the river, blocking the turbulent flow of water. As long as the dam was strong, he would be safe behind it. But if one day the dam collapsed or if he voluntarily removed the dam, the water accumulated at a high level would become even more ruthless.

About taking a job and livelihood - Lockhart is popular writer. He have money. About a curse - curse would exist anyway and probably already killed peaple before. Now it would kill faster and maybe for sure. Risk increased but not really. Plus let’s face it - he did this thing with voodoo doll anyway, knowing shit may happen

However, Bryan couldn't ignore the guilt he felt towards Lockhart and there were two reasons behind it. The first reason was quite obvious. Taking someone else's job without giving them any notice, especially when they were doing well as the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts, was essentially taking someone's livelihood. Such behavior, to put it seriously, was highly unethical.
