Yes, it will. It's not about teaching harmless magic. It's about the adaptability of human Nature. They will be able to create something out of nothing. It's in our freaking blood. That's how we invented so many things out of natural resources that we were provided at the start of the earth. Even if you teach them harmless magic you are giving them magic. It's a resource.
