I think shes trying too hard. tolerating someone's difficult traits is a form of love. will could have easily put Maisy down when she started annoying him but he tolerated it for her sake. that counts
How could she get her husband and son who so often seemed off in their own little world together to bond with Maisie?

Henry is just an introvert and a book worm. he's not a psychopath. REALIZE THIS
Despite the unsettling similarities they shared, Will was relieved that Henry loved his mother. That meant he wouldn't want to cause her grief and it would be simple enough to steer him away from any problem behaviors using her as incentive.

I'm glad she hasn't lost her individual identity after becoming a parent. it's so easy to neglect yourself when you're expected to put everyone else first
She appreciated that but it didn't change how busy she was by much. The only time they really had to spend together was after the kids went to bed and a lot of the time she wanted to do nothing but paint to regain some of her lost sanity throughout the day.

no matter how much prep you do you will still freeze when a toddler asks stuff like that 🤣
He regretted saying anything immediately. There was a book he had read before that talked about how to handle the baby question but right now his mind was blank. He needed to find it and read that part again right now.

definitely over thinking it
Was his son testing…him? Or was he reading too much into this? As his wife kept insisting, he was just a baby.

its common to need time. bonding takes work
Will had known this would happen. He couldn't fall in love with his son at first sight the way a father was supposed to. It would be shocking if he did manage to come to care for him over time.

hope the books warned him of the emotional rollercoasters of postpartum cause that's even worse than pregnancy hormones

I feel very called out by this paragraph 😬😅
"Shut up, Will! You might be a genius with accents but I'm not. I'm tired and sore and I want Girl Scout cookies but they don't have them here," Hazel shouted with tears in her eyes. "I'd be at home right now if not for you. I hate you!"

don't they normally write the books after the killer is dead though? maybe that's for a reason
People wrote books about serial killers all the time and they didn't get targeted like this. He was a special case.

bonding 💜💜💜
Somehow unable to say no, Will secured her on his hip with one arm while adding ingredients to the pot with the other. Maisie stirred diligently, heeding her father's warnings about not letting it splash out because it was hot.
