Because before she woke up, she had seen 'herself' saying thank you to that man and his warriors as they left after that war. Then she heard 'her' whisper as soon as he disappeared into a flurry of dark smoke, "I wished we knew back then that you weren't the real enemy. If only you became our ally sooner."

I don't think that's the case because Alex's father was heartless and cruel and he never treated Alex with love and care. but our Gav is sweet and considerate, and knowing how much he loves Evie, he would also treasure their child. And also Alex had siblings who were pure blooded. Gav refused to get close to any other vampire females. So I don't think there is any connection between Gav and Alex, but let's see how the story unfolds.
I agree. I don't know why it's dragging so much, no conclusion and no clear character outline. I know it's a fantasy bt still, I feel a bit disappointed now.
