Why is that? It's weird for Byakuya to react like this.. He didn't do anything wrong and he knows it. Moreover in the end his aunt survived, and the culprit is already buried. I wouldn't go as far as saying that there shouldn't be any hard feelings between two parties but his reaction is still weird. He as an innocent party should welcome any and every chance to restore relationship with the couple.
