Don't these guys live underground? Umbrellas should be a completely unused item. Unless the underground space is large enough that it does rain. Condensation from the roof maybe?

How does he take the snakes with him when he uses his space skills? Fade should leave the snakes behind. So would Phase, Blink, and Flicker. A number of times now it says he can't take them or little shrubby with him, then he puts the snakes up his sleeves or in a pocket and proceeds to do it anyway. Are they forgotten, or is he taking them with him unconsciously and only thinks he can't do it?
He spent a while getting it out of the shell. Couldn't he have just used the ring to take the meat out while leaving the shell inside?
I thought his great idea was gonna be to put the bear in his ring and let it suffocate. It is technically unconscious after all.
What is its operating system? Do they just plug in a mana core from a golem? Do they use a computer/mana hybrid control chip? Is there a pre-programed mana core they can buy from a DIY magic shop? A semi-artificial intelligent golem core should be something with a lot of runes he can study.
Arthur wanted to use his Force rune to achieve walking or gliding across the ground, but he couldn't so he had to work with the others. They listened to the instructions of the biology student and were able to make the golem walk, albeit clumsily.

Scratch a week ago. I'm pretty sure he still doesn't understand anything about anything.
His mother, being the busy single-mother she was, had no time for news or how the world worked. She knew about everything awakeners-related from his father, but things like runes were taken for granted these days. She didn't understand why an association was needed for that.
