Hmm i think I have an idea for a skill that could be fun to see and have many possibilities but could also break the power scaling early on if he fights something much stronger then him, but mabye you could iron out the kinks to make it a better skill lol Hunter/ Predator(idk) : Integrates perk or stats boost from defeated(killed) enemy to skill holder ( ie: magic affinity, small stats boost, fighting style/skill, abIlities, Mabye lifeforces or bloodlines if wanted) Another skill that i havent seen often could be some sort of summoning or spirit chanting that can both be physical summons or power boosts Hope you find a skill you like that will fit your character.
