I wish I read this review, this is a warning every reader should know about.
The reason he didn't curse his ex-girlfriend? Well, she ended things because he had cheated on her, so he couldn't blame her for anything. He was the bastard. But being a stubborn man, he decided not to torment himself over it and instead vent his anger on a fictional character. That didn't hurt anyone, right?

if 3/4 houses are overused, I imagine thats no longer overusing, it's just that Hufflepuff is underused. I see Gryffindor most often.
When it was his turn, McGonagall put the Sorting Hat on his head and his occlumency shield did not actually work against the hat, he felt the hat looking through his memories and in less than 3 seconds the hat declared, "Slytherin!" The Slytherin table erupted in cheers as Vincent joined his new housemates.
