I definitely enjoyed the chapter. Shame the novel seems to be dropped.

Thanks for the chapter. The end part of the chapter feels disconnected a bit. I personally think Hero should have shouted out loud about his promise with his friends than in his mind since, from Kyle's perspective, he doesn't know Hero and his promise with his friends. To Kyle, Hero is just an opponent who was late to the fight and "says" he can fight Lvl 3 Awakeneds. Or you can do an internal monologue of Kyle thinking about how Hero is acting like one of the protagonists out of the novels he reads and go along with that. Don't take this post too seriously but was just my two cents. I did enjoy how you did the chapter and ended it.
