Chapter seven
Later on, Max discovered MaryAnn got angry at Max for not coming home the night before. So, after collecting the wristwatch, she went to a nearby church instead of going to school.
After the short service at the church ended, she took a walk to the hall where she was found by Jessica.
Since the virus transmit with blood, it got so hard to conceal it

A knock! No movement
Another knock!
Max jerks up and rushes to open the door for Jessica. He beholds the three people behind her for a minute
'Are you infected? '
'No man! 'the only guy among them says louder for his voice to carry, 'We heard SHALERA is safe so we made move to go there but those fucking animals started chasing after us. We were able to escape and had that accident', he explain in a hurry with fear
'Alright, come in, 'he invited and space the way for them to enter
'i never knew we were still many in this part of the world. Everywhere is dead', the guy grumbles before taking a seat. The other women bow slightly as a sign of gratitude before taking a seat each close to the guy.
'Are you alright? '
'Yes, I am fine. Just tired, 'Jessica walks in and groans,' When do we move in the morning?'
'When it's clear to see where we are going to,' Max says and led Jessica to the back seat of the bus,' You should sleep, I will keep watch'
Jessica look at him for a while before bursting into fresh laughter,' You need it as much as I need it
Max blush slightly,' I don't. I'm a man, I can still control myself'
'Exactly! Was why I caught you sleeping the other time,' Jessica teases, and Max's blush gets more reddish.
'Here,' Max pulls Jessica's head down on his lap. Jessica stiff for a while as different thoughts collided in her in some sort of crazy confusion,' what about your mom,' he asked, diverting the attention to make her feel relaxed
It worked cos she relaxed and smile,' She died when I was twelve'
Max shakes his head briefly in huge sadness, 'So no relatives?'
Jessica sigh,' No relative's
He watches her close her eyes. For a while, all he could do was take her view in. Her round-straight face with full lips. Her sexiest eyes or the long natural eyelashes? Or the full brow. She just looks so beautiful.
He doesn't believe he's admiring the beautiful lady sleeping on his lap when he should be worried about something else. They need to get to SHALERA safely

When Max woke up, Jessica was gone. He stood up urgently and his gaze searched around for her.
'Dad!' Mary scream, breaking through his thought and rushes to him,' i drank tea this morning,' she smiles
Max nodded once then looked at his daughter again as awareness settled in him, 'Tea? Where did you get tea from?'
'Jessica made it for us. She made it for everyone in the bus'
What!
The door opens almost immediately and Jessica enters, 'Want some tea?' her smile was something Max could kill for
'What are you doing? You could get killed!'Max didn't know where the anger was coming from
'Will you scold me or drink this nice tea?'..her voice was also sounding like soft nice music to his ears. Something must be going wrong with him
'I'm starting the bus already,' Charles informed from across the driver's seat
'Yes Charles, you do that while I drink this nice and sweet tea,' Jessica jokes and goes to sit in the back seat. Max watches her for a while and his anger subsides. He doesn't even know why he's getting angry over trivial issues. He knows better than anyone that Jessica had been bitten, not once or twice and she survived it.
Though he doesn't know how she escaped death, something in him is telling him she would continue to escape that same death.
Yet the fear of losing her still stands.
A helicopter suddenly flies past them...
'What's that?'
'That can't be the zombies right?'
'You mean they are here to help us?'
Soon some cars were driving toward them at an alarming speed
'What's happening??'
Jessica stood up and observed the cars.
Max also does the same. The first thing he sees is the symbol, the logo. It's the state hospital where he worked as the doctor
'It's from the hospital!' Max rejoices loudly,' Stop the car, they are here to help us!'
Everyone sigh with relief
The bus pulls to a stop just in time for the cars to park too. Some men came down from the cars and walked closer to the bus.
Max was the only one that came down. 'I'm so happy to see you,' he smiles,' I thought we won't make it, 'he rattles off and then pauses when no one speaks, 'Is something wrong? '
'We want Jessica, 'the leading one says
Wait! What! Is this some sort of a trick?
'You say what! 'Max still couldn't believe his ears
Just immediately, the same helicopter flies back above them and stops, hovering so close to them
'Give us Jessica or you all die! 'The man talking doesn't even seem like a human being. If not for the eyes and the way he was talking, he would have mistaken him for one of the demons
Max grew nervous, 'What's happening? Why will the hospital want Jessica', his voice was also breaking
'That's the order we received. There's a bomb in the helicopter, if we release it on this bus, no one will escape it. Release Jessica now! '
Max's heartbeat stops a moment then accelerates by 100 meters. Perspiration broke out of his forehead and his legs shake underneath him
He instantly got the message. They want to use Jessica as the observing patient
God, she could die...
