Capítulo 87: Wyverns…Wyvaints no more.

What do you do when you are stranded in a new environment? First gotta figure out the dangers. So far there is one that is 100% confirmed. Wyverns. Dumber and way weaker versions than dragons. I guess the bear would just call them dumb lizards haha.

My immediate surroundings seem safe. I'm in a fissure in the rocky wall.

Visibility 0.

Comfort 0.

Enlightenment potential, off the charts!

You know that thing where people go into seclusion to train. Gotta enter a meditative stance. Then you keep training until you reach the next level. That is given you can train in cultivation.

In my case that would be mana. I'm not sure if I can increase my maximum mana capacity somehow. I know for a fact I have lots of room to improve skill-wise. After all, power is useless if you don't know how to use it.

I'll have to slowly figure that out. Now, what do I do? Do I try and go back to the forest? Do I just keep going on this quest? Decisions, decisions.

Now let's see… Nope screw that! Outside are tons of wyverns. I'm not even sure when they came out. I guess as soon as the roc left. I'm really not sure how we were attacked by only a few of them initially.

Actually, I may have an inkling, but I don't want to think about it right now. I fear the possibilities. Right now I need a plan.

I'm in a crevasse. There is only one entrance. If I go out as is, I'll get shredded for sure. Either by one of the flying creatures or by falling to my death. I'd be able to deal with any of the two relatively easily. But both, I'm really not convinced.

Any lapse in my concentration would have me end up as a pancake on the floor. Flat and all. Aight, let's do this. First of all nature magic and…

I make some vines spawn. Pointy, spike, scary-looking ones. Somehow this is tiring as heck! Ah, I see the issue. In the forest, I was controlling nature. Here I'm creating it. Using mana to make something is way harder.

Then It is time for …. rest. I focus and try to sense the mana in the surroundings. At first, it feels to me as if there is none at all. But then I finally detect a few traces of it. It is extremely faint, but it is there! I can work with that!

I ever so slowly gather it. It takes a long time but finally my mana is full again. If I had to describe the process, I'd say mana regeneration has two aspects. The passive slow process where my mana regenerates on its own. The active quicker process where I actively attract it. Needless to say …both. Both is good.

Then I repeat the previous task. I summon vines. Until I'm half out of mana. Gotta keep a little bit for emergencies after all. Then I keep doing that over and over again. How long has it been? Not sure, I lost count.

Do not underestimate the tenacity of the one that resisted oblivion hehe. Eventually, there is no room left for more vines. My mana is also full. The time has come. I get my head outside and then…

[You bunch of dumb wyverns! Who's your daddy!]

Ah, the effect is disappointing. Most don't seem to have heard. Let me try this. Drive a little bit of mana into my voice and…

[YOU BUNCH OF DUMB WYVERNS! WHO'S YOUR DADDY!]

Wow.

*Screeches*

Why do wyverns screech? Shouldn't they roar or something? Guess they are lacking way more than brains eh. Then all of the ones present here turn their heads my way. Quite like a bunch of Seagulls at a Golden Arches fast food restaurant. In that situation, I would be the tall and gorgeous fry.

There is that one second of quiet and tranquility. Then it starts. They all start rushing at once. If this was a U-tube video there would be MINE, MINE, MINE as subtitles for the creatures. I'm obviously their target. But so what.

Have you ever seen that movie about 300 badasses defending their land? They are confronted by a swarm of enemies and yet they don't give up. Now picture this happening, but in my case… It's way more Epic!

Here comes the first wyvern! First casualty! Then starts a slaughter.

Vines springing on them.

Brain perforated.

Spine crushed.

Wings torn.

Teeth pulled.

Claws broken.

Scales peeled.

Oh, by the way, that enumeration was all for the first one.

Let's just say the others don't fare any better. I'm using the same tactic Yggdrasil used against the dragon. Also getting similar results.

They keep trying, but the only access to me is completely blocked. My back is securely against the stone. Blood is overflowing like a fountain. The cries of agony are resonating. The screeches becoming less numerous. Also panic starts to spread. They understand that this is their last living moment.

[Cherish getting annihilated little lizards.]

I can see the fear in their eyes. They have finally realized that I am no food. It only took a few dozens of them, to kick the bucket. Was it hundreds?

Ah, the best part is that my mana is still relatively full. My supply of reserve vines is almost gone, however. All the remaining ones frantically try to run away. Hell no!

I use some of my remaining vines to trap a few. After the stunt I have just pulled, I am very doubtful any of them will approach this place anytime soon. Try to picture yourself in their shoes…eh claws.

When you see a mountain literally painted red from blood you tend to want to avoid it. Even dumb wyverns are starting to figure that out. Still, these few captured ones are gonna be my ticket out of here. Oh, this is going to be a lot of fun. I already have a design in mind.
