"Work. The place for actual heroes. Aiden Jones is ready to roll! As a janitor at an office
building, of course. What's a college dropout like me got to achieve?" I dismissed the thoughts in
my head and began sweeping the floors. "Why did the floor have to be carpeted? Coffee could
spill in here and make everyone's day worse..." I mumbled out loud. Suddenly, someone bumped
into me, and we both fell to the ground. I exclaimed, "I'm so sorry! Are you okay!?" A calm,
quiet yet familiar voice said, "You are so loud..." I looked up and realized it was the vice
president of the company the office building is for.
I quickly picked up the papers he dropped and said, "I-I'm so sorry... here are your papers
back.." The vice president stood up and said, "Ah. Thank you." This was the first time I was able
to see him up close. He looked so cute, even wearing boring, beige clothes. The only thing that
stood out was his black hair and deep blue eyes behind a pair of black-framed glasses. His white
skin looked so soft, and he even smelled good. He looked down at his watch and said, "I
apologize for interrupting your work. I must go now." Even his voice was glorious up close.
He began to walk away, but I exclaimed, "W-Wait! What's your name?" He stopped and
stood there for a moment. He then looked at me and said, "Wilfred." He immediately turned
away and walked off. I sighed and said, "So formal... but he is the vice president." I picked up
my broom and began sweeping again, but I couldn't stop thinking about Wilfred's face. It was so
stern, but thinking about him bursting with emotion made me smile like a big goofball. I sighed
and said, "Someday, Aiden. Someday." Suddenly, my phone vibrated, and I said, "Done for the
day already?"
I put the broom away in a closet and yawned. "I finally get to go home..." When I walked
outside, I saw two female workers in front of Wilfred. I got closer for a better inspection and
heard them snickering and flirting with him. He seemed uncomfortable, so I walked next to
Wilfred and said, "Hey, buddy! Ready to go?" One of the girls exclaimed, "I-It's him! What
should I say!?" The other girl said, "Just go talk to him!" I glanced at the girls and winked at
them. Without a single word that needed to be spoken, the girls ran off while screaming. Wilfred
said, "You are that janitor... what are you doing here?" I sighed and said, "I work so late...
anyway, I'm going home!"
Wilfred said, "Wait for a moment. I have to repay you for ridding me of those scoundrels." I said, "Really? Um... let's go drinking together! Just you and me!" Wilfred said,
"Alright then." Aiden sighed and said, "I'll drive us there. Let's go!" Matching my speed, I led
Wilfred to my car. When we got to it and hopped in, Wilfred said, "This is... a costly car." I said,
"Hey, I do get paid a lot. I'm no thief." I backed out of the driveway and drove to the bar I
usually go to on Saturdays only. But today was special. My first date with Wilfred!
We arrived at the bar, and I said, "Here we are! This place is the best. You'll love it, I
promise!" Wilfred got out of the car and didn't say a word. I sighed and turned off the car. I got
out and saw Wilfred on his phone, absolutely uninterested in the situation. I said, "Um... are you
coming?" He nodded, and I said, "Okay..." We walked inside, and I said, "I'll pay for everything.
Let's sit over here!" We sat down at a booth for four, and I asked, "Whaddya want?" Wilfred said,
"I do not drink alcohol." I said, "So, something light. Okay!" A lady I know walked over and
said, "Hey, Aiden! I've never seen you here on a workday. What's the occasion?" I said, "It's a
secret. I'll take the usual, and my friend here will take something light." She nodded and walked
off.
Wilfred said, "We are not friends... I owe you." I said, "C'mon, let's have some fun! If... I
say anything strange, don't mention it to me." Wilfred nodded, and I said, "Thank you, vice
president." The lady came back over and put two drinks down. She said, "Aiden, about your
usual... it's a little stronger than normal because the ingredients are new. Don't do anything
reckless, you hear?" I said, "I won't. We're good here for now." She walked away, and Wilfred
asked, "Do I have to drink this?" I said, "It tastes good, I swear. Try it!" I took a sip of mine and
was surprised at how strong the flavor was. I said, "Wow! This drink is amazing!" Wilfred took a
sip of his drink and said, "...It's good." I said That's the spirit! Let's drink!"
I took another large drink, but I was already starting to feel weird. "Ah, that's the stuff.
Hey, vice president! Do you wanna try some?" Wilfred said, "No. It seems like too much, even
for you." "Hehe! Vice president is so funny..." I could barely think, and everything was starting
to look trippy. "...Fwah! That tastes so good!" Wilfred was on his phone and taking a sip of what
I ordered for him from time to time. He looked too calm for someone who liked silence. I then
found myself gazing at his face like a perfect piece of art. He looked at me and asked, "Are you
done with your drink?" I shook my head and said, "I'm not done looking at your face... hey, vice
president. Did you know that you look super cute?"
Wilfred said, "You are acting strangely. Are you intoxicated?" I said, "Uh, that word
means drunk, right? Because I am hammered right now..." I squinted my eyes and mumbled,
"How come vice president never shows any emotion? Like, at all?" Wilfred said, "I do not need
to." I burped and said, "Then how do you talk to people? Or your friends?" He replied, "I have
no friends. I do not need them. And I only talk to people when I have to." I just stared at him in
shock. I said, "You're strange for a hot guy, you know..." He said, "What... do you mean?" He
seemed agitated.
I couldn't help but pick at him more. "Well... when I first saw you, I thought you were
cute... you still are, by the way,.." Wilfred frowned and said, "Stop calling me that, please." I
smiled and said, "But you are." He stood up and said, "I think I should go now." He walked
away, and I quickly walked after him. I said, "H-Hey! I'm sorry for calling you cute!" He stopped
and asked, "Why are you following me?" I said, "I didn't think you would get upset... I'm
sorry..." Wilfred didn't know what to say. Only a frustrated look was plastered on his face.
He said, "Stay away from me, please. You confuse me." I said, "I... confuse you?" He
looked away and said, "You're just so... frustrating to talk to! Why can't you be normal!?" I said, "Normal, huh? I'm sorry that I'm not who I want you to be. I prefer to be who I am." Wilfred
ruffled his hair and screamed in frustration. "I don't get it!" He shouted. I stepped up to him and
said, "Then let me help you understand!" I grabbed his shoulders, and he flinched violently. I
pulled him closer to me and kissed him. Instead of pushing me away like I thought he would, he
just stood there, staring at me with a bewildered look.
Our lips parted, and he asked, "What... was that?" I gave him a confused look and said,
"That was a kiss. You don't know what a kiss is?" He shook his head and said, "It's weird... I
don't like it." "I said that I was going to make you understand me. This is how I feel about you. I
hugged him and said, "I like you a lot, WIl..." I had no idea what I was saying at this point.
Whatever came to my head just went out of my mouth without a second thought. Wilfred said, "What do you mean?"I was about to say something, but I started to feel dizzy.
Soon, my eyes became heavy, and everything went dark.
