Capítulo 338: Motion sensor

"Good morning, everyone."

As the time for the press conference arrived, Takayuki stepped onto the stage on time.

The entire room immediately darkened, and then the spotlight focused on Takayuki, making him the center of attention for everyone.

"It's really nostalgic."

At this moment, there were some murmurs in the audience.

The voice seemed somewhat familiar, and upon closer inspection, it appeared to be the voice of Hayakawa Uejito.

Next to him was Aidan, the current head of SuRui Electronics USA.

Aidan glanced at Hayakawa Uejito.

"What's nostalgic about it?"

"In just nearly seven years since the birth of Gamestar Entertainment, such a young man has managed to build a company almost comparable to ours almost entirely on his own strength. This truly speaks to the genius of Takayuki."

Aidan remained somewhat noncommittal.

From a business perspective, Takayuki didn't have much to boast about.

He was essentially a laissez-faire manager who only seemed to know how to make games.

Aidan didn't particularly hold Takayuki in high regard.

If it weren't for Takayuki's keen eye in recruiting talents like Sho Matsubashi and other business talents, the outcome might have been different.

If Takayuki were really left to manage the company, it would have likely been chewed up by more experienced companies long ago.

Takayuki himself was well aware of this.

He knew his strengths and weaknesses and focused solely on what he was good at, leveraging his strengths.

One person's capabilities were always limited; you couldn't excel at everything. As long as you could entrust your weaknesses to trustworthy people and focus on what you were good at, it was enough.

In Hayakawa Uejito's eyes, Takayuki was a technical whiz.

He had always hoped to have someone like Takayuki join SuRui Electronics.

With such talent, their electronic gaming industry would likely have no rivals.

He had always been searching for geniuses like Takayuki.

Unfortunately, it seemed that Takayuki was one of a kind in the world. There was no one else like him.

It was truly regrettable.

"Hayakawa, why do you think Takayuki personally came to promote this time? Is it for a new product? Another new gaming console?"

Hayakawa Uejito shook his head. "No, although I can't be completely sure, based on what I know about Gamestar Entertainment, they won't be launching any new gaming consoles for at least three to four years. This is also our chance."

Aidan said, "Then what is he promoting this time? It seems like a big deal."

"Frankly, I'm not sure either. Perhaps a new game? I heard that their Final Fantasy VII trial version was quite popular, so maybe they're planning to ramp up the promotion for Final Fantasy."

Aidan thought for a moment and felt like it made some sense, but with his business acumen, he felt it might not be that simple.

"Alright, let's not speculate too much. Let's patiently watch and see. Anyway, he's about to make the announcement."

Hayakawa Uejito signaled to Aidan not to distract himself anymore. He wanted to focus on seeing what Takayuki was up to.

On the stage, Takayuki briefly introduced the current development trajectory of his company.

This was essentially just idle talk.

If this press conference were aimed at players, he wouldn't have been so verbose.

But since it was for the media and peers, it was a means to increase his influence by boasting a bit.

This was essentially an industry-standard unwritten rule, so everyone took it in stride, without much surprise.

After speaking for about five or six minutes, Takayuki paused.

"Alright, you all didn't come here to listen to me ramble on, so I won't say much more. Next, I'm going to announce our latest product at Gamestar Entertainment."

Here it comes, the main event.

Having the president of Gamestar Entertainment personally come to the US for promotion clearly indicated that this was a highly valued product.

Could it be that Gamestar Entertainment was planning to expand into new business?

Everyone was guessing.

At this point, an employee had pushed a display table covered with a cloth to the center of the stage.

A spotlight immediately focused on the display table.

Takayuki slowly walked to the front of the display table and decisively removed the cloth, revealing the product underneath.

People craned their necks to see what was on the display table.

Some even used portable binoculars to get a closer look.

The sound of cameras clicking filled the room.

"What's that? Is it a camera? And what are those controllers? They look like two sticks. I've never seen controllers like these before. Is Gamestar Entertainment planning to launch a new gaming console?"

Upon seeing the new product, Aidan immediately laughed and said, "Hayakawa-san, looks like you guessed wrong. They really are planning to release a new gaming console. Look, the new controllers are already out."

At this moment, Hayakawa Uejito didn't react to Aidan's words. He was just staring intently at the product on the display table.

On the display table, there were only two cylindrical controllers. One controller had a joystick and directional pad, while the other had Gamestar Entertainment's iconic ABXY buttons along with a joystick.

From the layout of the buttons, it was immediately apparent that these were meant to be held in the left and right hands respectively.

But why separate the controllers for left and right hands?

And why were they cylindrical, with a special spherical object at the front?

There was also the camera.

Suddenly, a few thoughts popped into Hayakawa Uejito's mind.

But for the moment, he wasn't quite sure what to make of it.

"Please witness the arrival of a new era in gaming. I've named this product 'Sensory Gaming,' and actually, you might have seen it mentioned briefly in our GS1 promotion before. However, at that time, our product was still in the experimental stage, so we didn't focus on it."

Sensory Gaming!

That's right.

Hayakawa Uejito remembered now.

It had indeed been mentioned during the GS1 promotion.

However, it had only been briefly mentioned and quickly glossed over.

If someone wasn't paying much attention, they would have easily missed it.

But as a peer, and one who was second only to Gamestar Entertainment in the gaming industry, Hayakawa Uejito definitely paid more attention to Gamestar Entertainment's every move.

Sensory Gaming was a new term, but it was easy to understand.

It allowed people to play games through body movements.

And the camera was clearly meant to capture the player's actions.

"I'm sure many of you still have a lot of questions about this product, so I'll demonstrate it for you now. Please welcome Ms. Sho Matsubashi, our head for the US region."
