Capítulo 108: Left Alone
Minutes stretched into hours as Lyra waited, her mind conjuring up countless scenarios, each more terrifying than the last. Just as she felt herself teetering on the brink of madness, the sound of footsteps once again filled the corridor, accompanied by a presence that made the very air around her tremble with power.
Dante emerged from the shadows, his aura demanding and intense as he stood before Lyra's cell. His eyes, dark and unfathomable, seemed to pierce through her very soul as he regarded her in silence.
"You monster!" Lyra shouted, her voice trembling with a mixture of fear and defiance. "I'll never stop until I defeat you and your twisted family!"
Dante raised a hand, his expression unreadable. "Calm yourself, Lyra. There is much you do not understand."
But Lyra was beyond reason, her anger and desperation boiling over. "I won't calm down until you tell me where my friends are! Did you kill them? Did you snuff out their lives like they were nothing?"
Dante paused, his gaze unwavering as he seemed to consider his words carefully. Lyra's heart raced, her chest heaving with each ragged breath as she waited for his response, dreading the answer but desperate for the truth.
"They are alive," Dante said at last, his voice low and measured.
Lyra's eyes widened, a flicker of hope igniting in her chest. "Where are they?" she demanded, her voice cracking with emotion.
Dante held up a hand, his expression inscrutable. "I cannot reveal their location to you at this time, Lyra. But know that I am working in your best interest, and that of your friends. In time, the truth will be made clear, but for now, you must trust in me."
Lyra's heart sank, her hopes dashed by Dante's cryptic words. She wanted to scream, to rage against the injustice of it all, but something in his voice, in the way he looked at her, made her pause. Could it be possible that there was more to this than she had initially believed? Could Dante truly be an ally, working from within the ranks of the Nightfall Mafia to bring about its downfall?
As Lyra grappled with these questions, Dante turned to leave, his footsteps echoing through the dungeon as he disappeared into the shadows once more. Lyra was left alone with her thoughts.
