Valerian jumped off the edge of the observation balcony and just when he was about to touch the ground, he said, "Ventus Motus." 

It was the simple wind movement spell, but this time he cast it against himself to break the momentum he had gained from the fall and landed softly on the ground. Then he walked to the center of the ring and stood in front of Kartan Shin and the burly man. 

The latter said, "You may call me Instructor Chug. Since you are the first person to reach the top of the vine, you have an advantage, in the battle competition, if you are to reach the rank of the fourth person, and then you lose a match, your ranking will stay fixed as the fourth person. Do you have any questions?" 

Valerian thought for a bit and said, "No, Sir."
