Capítulo 128: A Man

"Oh my, she has gained so much more weight," he said as he carried her from the car, closing the door behind him with much difficulty.

As he held her, she stirred and wrapped her hands around his shoulder. Matteo's breath hitched, and he reddened like a high school kid. She opened her eyes and moved her face toward his. Matteo turned his face to meet hers, and they stared at each other for what seemed like a long time.

"I'm sorry, Matteo," she said as her eyes glistened.

"Hush, my pretty swan. We'll talk when you're more sober; just sleep for tonight," he said as he opened the door to the guest room.

"You should let go now," Matteo nudged as he placed her on the bed.

"No, I don't want to let go."

"I don't want to either, but you have to sleep well."

"Don't go," she said as she hugged him tightly.

"You're drunk, Rosalie."

"No! I'm very much sober. Just stay this way," she murmured.
