The commotion outside grew louder, punctuated by shouts and hurried footsteps.
Despite her pain, Sophia strained to listen for any clues, her instincts as a queen and a mother urging her to protect her unborn child at all costs.
"Your Majesty, you must stay calm," she urged softly, her voice a contrast to the turmoil outside. "Please focus on your breathing."
But Sophia couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom. She clenched her fists. Deep down, she knew that whatever was unfolding beyond those walls would change everything.
