Capítulo 27: Sabaody Archipelago I
Zeus woke up in a bed, he sat up and reached for the side of his head, he didn't feel his mask and looked around. He saw Robin sleeping next to him, he sighed and lied back down, and held Robin in his arms and thought about the fight with Kuma. There were several things he could've done better, he mumbled to himself "I didn't know Kuma was that strong, i'm still not strong enough to protect anyone!" he smashed his fist into the desk next to the bed. Robin's eyelids quivered open, she looked up and saw Zeus was staring at the ceiling with a frown on his face. She sat up and said "You shouldn't move." Zeus was brought out of his thoughts and looked at Robin, then at himself, he was bandaged from the neck down, all over his body, he sighed and said "How long was I asleep for?" Robin said "Around a week." Zeus sat up and Robin held his shoulders, he turned to her, she looked him in the eye and said "What happened." Zeus said "Well, I used Angel's Strike but the backlash wasn't so bad this time, If I can a little more practice with it I might be able to control it. Most of the damage was from Luffy's pain bubble. What did Chopper say?" Robin teared up and said "He said you almost died." Zeus chuckled and said "Yeah, I wasn't planning on coming back from that." Robin slapped him, it went right through his head, he still reacted and turned his head. She let her tears fall and said "Do you think anyone of us want you to sacrifice yourself?!" Zeus was silent, and she continued and said "You need to realize that while you may be protecting us, you still have people who care if you live or not! Luffy and Me especially, what are we supposed to do if you're gone?" Zeus said "Live." Robin choked, Zeus continued "I expect you to live. I understand how you feel and how Luffy and the rest feel, but I have my own thoughts too. I love you, Robin and I don't like seeing you hurt, it's the same with the rest of the crew. If I have to die so you all can live then so be it, and I think the rest and yourself, will agree with me." Robin snapped "Of course but do you know how much it hurts seeing you in pain?! I-" Zeus hugged her and whispered "Of course I know how it feels, but i'd much rather see you in pain than see a corpse." he kissed her and smiled "I'm sorry Robin, but I did promise that I won't let you die before me." he chuckled and said "Let's go see the rest." Zeus got up and stumbled before catching himself and saying "That's not a good start, by the way do you know where my mask is?" Robin sighed and grabbed it from the drawer in the desk next to the bed, Zeus let loose a sigh of relief and said "Thank god I didn't lose it" he grabbed it from her and put it on he side of his head, she smiled and he took her hand and walked out of the room.
When they reached the deck, Zeus saw a mermaid, a starfish, and a octopus fishman. Zeus walked over and said "Hey Hatchi!" Hachi said "It's you! The nice guy from Cocoyasi village! What're you doing here?" Zeus chuckled and said "Finally going to try some of your takoyaki! I knew you could do it!" Hatchi blushed and said "Yeah, well, tell me if it's good." he handed some takoyaki to Zeus, and said "Oh right here is Camie, and Pappag." Zeus ate some takoyaki and said "Hello, i'm Zeus!" he turned to the mermaid and said "I guess you met our blond cook?" Camie blinked and nodded, Zeus smirked and said "Did he tell you that we saw a mermaid before? Her name was Kokoro, but she was older than you and already had her legs, I think she was an ice-fish mermaid?" He looked at Robin, she smiled and nodded and he said "Yeah, and Ice fish mermaid. Oh yeah do you know where the rest of the crew are?" Hatchi said "They were fighting some flying fish pirates a while ago, I think they should be back soon." Zeus nodded and said "This is really good! Do you guys get a lot of customers?" Hatchi nodded and Camie said "Yeah, Hatchin and I run a little restaurant on the water near Sabaody. and we usually get pirates and marines." Zeus said "Isn't that really dangerous for you guys? Camie especially." He turned to Hatchi and said "Aren't you a little too close to Sabaody?" Robin said "What's wrong with Sabaody? It seems like this would be their best location." Zeus shook his head and said seriously "Hatchi knows, but i'll explain. For mermaids and some unique fishmen, it is extremely dangerous to go anywhere near Sabaody because of the World Noble ships that may pass by, I forgot the specific number but I think mermaid slaves sell for quite a lot." Robin gasped and said "Slaves?" Zeus chuckled and said "Yup, Sabaody may seem like a very happy and fun island on the surface, but it is the biggest slave capture and selling spot in Paradise. World Nobles walk by all the time, and if they so happen to find something that they don't like, the marines can send troops and arrive within 15 minutes. So unless you can fight an admiral, the World Nobles are untouchable." Zeus continued to eat his takoyaki and added "And they marines WILL send their troops for anything the Nobles request, to catching pirates, to imprisoning a troublesome person, or catching run away slaves." Robin was shocked, she said "The marines catching slaves instead of helping them?" Zeus shrugged and said "Nothing you can do the marines are the dogs of the World Government and the World Government are the dogs of the World Nobles, the only known people to free slaves are 'Criminals', like the revolutionaries or Fisher Tiger, the fishman." Hatchi nodded and said "Big bro tiger saved me when I was a kid from Mariejois along with all the slaves, that were there" Zeus sighed and said "Even then, he achieved nothing." Robin said "What do you mean?" Zeus explained "Fisher Tiger freed ALL the slaves when he climbed Mariejois, around 13 years ago, and by all I mean, Humans, Fishmen, and Minks. So the story goes, that he saved a little girl and brought her back to her home, reuniting her with her family, only for the people in the town and even the little girls parents to call the marines on him, which resulted in him fleeing with major wounds, back to Fishman Island."Zeus paused and had a drink before continuing "When he returned however, he was told he needed a blood transfusion, and as there was no fishman with his blood type, they had to get a human donor. Needless to say he refused the blood and decided to die, along with his hatred for humans." Zeus pointed at Hatchi with his chopsticks and said "His death caused one of the slaves and a few of his brothers/friends to hate humans as well, Hatchi's friend Arlong was said slave, Arlong declared that humans were inferior creatures and left for the east blue and enslaved 20 islands and all their inhabitants just as the Nobles did to him, spreading the fear for fishman and causing 20 islands to have a deep hatred for fishmen. One of these islands, was our Navigator's home." he went back to eating, and Robin looked at Hatchi. Hatchi sighed and was sad because all of what Zeus said was true. Zeus said "Oh yeah, did you see Nami yet?" Hatchi sighed again and nodded, Zeus shook his head and said "No dice eh?" Hatchi just shook his head, Zeus patted him on the shoulders and said "Cheer up Hatchi, you have the rest of your time with us to make up for it, i'm sure she'll come around." Robin smiled and so did Hatchi, and a loud thump was heard on the deck, everybody turned around to look.
The rest of the crew landed on the deck and saw Zeus was eating takoyaki with Robin, Hatchi, Camie, and Pappag. Luffy ran over and hugged Zeus, who almost choked on his food, and said "You're alive!" Zeus said "I won't be for long if you squeeze me like that." Robin and the rest chuckled and they came and sat round him. Zeus said "I know i'm handsome but please don't stare, i'll blush!" Sanji said "He just woke up but he's already annoying me." the rest chuckled and smiled, Nami came up and patted his shoulder, saying "Nice to see you're awake!" Zeus smiled and said "Nice to be awake, where have y-" Nami punched him in the head, sending him face first into the table and snapped "DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN IDIOT!" Zeus groaned and got back up, he looked around and saw everybody's serious face and sighed "I will put down my life for the crew, I already told Robin." Nami seethed and Zoro grabbed Zeus by the collar of his open shirt and said "Listen to me mask-boy. I don't want and don't need your protection or your life. If I die, I die and that's it. I don't need you to lay down your life for me got it?" The rest of the group was silent, and Zeus frowned, and Luffy spoke "We won't get stronger with you protecting us all the time." the rest of the crew nodded, and Luffy continued "The first time with Aokiji, the second was the buster call, and now the third was Kuma. I don't want your protection either." Zeus was sad, he didn't want to undermine them, he just didn't want them to get hurt. He sighed and was silent, and kept eating. Robin was a little worried and said "But we appreciate what you did." Luffy cut her off and said "No, we don't." Robin said "Luffy!" Luffy ignored her and continued "I don't appreciate it at all." Zeus' body started circulating red lightning and Luffy continued "I would rather die than have you give up your life protecting me." Zeus snapped and grabbed him by the throat and said "So you're the only one allowed to protect others not the other way around?!" the rest of the crew did nothing and just watched, Zeus shook Luffy and said "You saved me when we were kids and I can't save you now?!" he threw Luffy across the ship and said "You want me to watch you die?!" Zeus was panting and spat out more blood, Chopper went to grab him and passed right through, Luffy got up and said "If I have to know you died to save my life, I wouldn't feel any better." Zeus was seething, he felt so useless, even if he knew what would happen and when it would happen, there were always variables. Kuma wasn't supposed to be that strong but he had Haki and he had a clear mastery over his devil fruit, along with his cybernetic parts, he was a tank. Ace still got captured even though he should've changed the future with his interference, Enel had a completely different fruit because he had eaten the Goro-Goro no mi, and Enel controlled him. The only thing that changed was Merry. Zeus was getting angrier and angrier, he cried and said "I'm too strong to help and too weak to protect you all, then please tell me what the fuck am I here for?" Zeus walked by Luffy and slammed the door to his room. The rest of the crew was silent and Robin went after him. Zoro, Luffy, and Sanji clenched their fists and all thought 'I need to get stronger', while the rest of the crew thought the same.
Zeus was in the room lying down on the bed, when he heard a knock at the door, he said "Come in." and Robin walked in, she closed the door and sat down on the bed next time him. They were in silence for a few moments and Zeus said "What's wrong with you Robin?" Robin said "I'm worried about you, and upset that Luffy said that." Zeus waved and said "That's how he is, don't pay any attention to him" Robin said "You were obviously affect by his words" Zeus said "Of course, because he's a selfish bastard, he can risk his life and will willingly trade it for any of yours, but he rejects the fact that other would do the same." he turned his head to her and said "And you feel the same way as him don't you?" Robin sighed and nodded, she lied down and hugged him and said "You were the first person to trust me, even when you knew about my past, and you're the one I love. Of course I don't want you to die for me." Zeus picked her up and laid her on top of him so she had her head on his chest, right over his heart and said "It's the same for me." Robin snuggled into his embrace and said "Is what you said before you left how you feel?" Zeus nodded and said "Yes, if I can't protect you guys and I can't help because I'm too strong why am I even here? I love being with you guys but I feel useless, simply speaking I am not needed at all. You will all be fine without me there, Zoro was going to take Kuma's bubble instead and I took it for him, he was in much better condition than me, so he would've survived, I wasn't needed at all." Robin was silent and said "You're not useless. We would've been in much more dangerous situations had you not been there and everyone wants you here." Zeus sighed and said "I don't know what to do Robin." Robin sighed and was silent, she looked up and saw that Zeus fell asleep and smiled 'Maybe he'll find out when we get to Sabaody, I can only hope' she thought. She got up and walked back on to the deck.
Robin got to the deck and sat down near the rest of the crew, Chopper ran over and said "How is he?" Robin said "He is physically fine, but mentally? Very bad." Chopper was silent, and Nami said "What does that mean?" Robin cleared her throat and said "Well Nami, If you were the navigator and couldn't navigate the grandline, how would you feel?" Nami said "Pretty useless" Robin smiled and said "There you go, he told me he wasn't really needed, and that he feels useless because he can't protect us and he can't help us." Nami was upset, she really didn't mean for this to happen, she said "You don't think he'll leave do you?" The rest of the crew turned to Robin and Robin said "I don't think so, for the moment anyway, but I think if he can't figure out his place or find some one to shed light on his situation, then it's very possible he will." The mood on the ship got heavier, and everybody clenched their fists in frustration, Robin noticed and said "He's sleeping now, we'll figure everything out on Sabaody." the rest of the crew nodded and the Sunny set sail to Sabaody.
A while later
Zeus woke up, and saw Robin was reading next to him, she smiled and said "We're at Sabaody." Zeus smiled and hugged her, kissed her lips and said "Thank you Robin, wanna come with me?" Robin nodded and they both walked out of the ship together.
Zeus and Robin landed on the island and started walking towards the shops, Robin said "Is there a place you want to go?" Zeus nodded and said "Grove 13, maybe someone there can help me." Robin nodded and bought a map, before they both walked towards grove 13. After walking for a while, they arrived at a bar, Zeus looked up and saw the sign said 'Shakky's Rip-off Bar', and he walked in with Robin following from behind.
Zeus and Robin walked in and saw that it was empty, before sitting at the bar and ordering drinks, Shakky gave them their drinks and said "Aren't you the 'Red Devil'?" Zeus smiled and said "The one and only. Aren't you Shakuyaku?" Shakky was surprised and said "My aren't you the knowledgable one?" Zeus drank and said "I like to think so, anyway where's Rayleigh?" Shakky said "What do you need Ray for?" Zeus sighed and said "I need help" Shakky said "Haven't seen him for half a year." Zeus facepalmed and said "He's probably selling himself off as a slave to clear his gambling debt." Shakky laughed and said "Who are you kid?" Zeus grinned and said "Monkey D. Zeus, former marine who went rogue to join a pirate crew" he stretched out his hand, Shakky chuckled and shook his hand, and said "Join a pirate crew eh? You look a little lost to me." Zeus froze and said "That's why I came to find Rayleigh, maybe he can help me." Shakky said "How about you tell me, and maybe I can help." Zeus sighed and explained how he felt and his situation and finished by saying "If there's anyone who could possibly shed any sort of light, I figured it would be the first mate of Roger's crew." Shakky chuckled and said "Seems like you've got quite the problem there." Zeus chuckled and said "Yeah tell me about it." Shakky shook his head and said "Honestly, if I were you I would just do what you want to do, and get strong enough to do it. What do you WANT to do?" Zeus froze and said "I.. I don't know, I have no dream, I guess you could say I want to go on adventures." Shakky said "Maybe Ray can help you." Zeus said absentmindedly "Yeah maybe he can" Zeus stood up and walked towards the door and left, Robin stood up to go after him but Shakky held her back and said "He needs to find his way on his own, you can't help." Robin said "I'm not going to leave him alone when he needs me." Shakky sighed and shook her head "He needs himself right now, not you, but you can tell me about him, you two seem close." Robin looked to the door, sighed and sat back down, she started telling Shakky about Zeus and everything that happened between them and all their adventures. Shakky said "Sounds like he really cares about all of you." Robin nodded sadly and Shakky said "And he cares especially about you." Robin smiled and Shakky laughed "So the feelings mutual eh?" Robin blushed and Shakky laughed again.
Zeus was walking towards Grove 1, where he knew Rayleigh was, still lost in his own thoughts, he mumbled to himself "What is it I really want to do?" Zeus bumped into a man in a huge bubble helmet and said "Sorry." before passing right by him, the man was incensed and said "Kneel!" Zeus didn't hear him and kept walking, the man got even angrier and said "YOU DAMN SLAVE I SAID KNEEL BEFORE ME!" Zeus stopped and said "Did you just call me a slave?" the man sneered and said "That's right." Zeus' body started crackling with electricity and he chuckled and said "You shouldn't have said that" before turning around and throwing a spear right through the man and vaporizing him. The surrounding crowd was terrified, an old man said "He just killed a World Noble..." Zeus was still stuck in his own thoughts and he said to a person on the side "Excuse me, do you know where Grove 1 is?" the person pointed in a direction and Zeus said "Thank you." and left, leaving the whole street shocked to the core.
Zeus arrived at Grove 1 and looked around and mumbled "Where's that damn slave house?" Zeus went up to a man, who was holding a sword and had a white hat with black spots on, Zeus said "Excuse me friend, do you know where the slave auction house is?" the man pointed at a building and said "Aren't you the 'Red devil'-ya?" Zeus nodded and said "Yeah, aren't you Trafalgar Law?" before walking towards the slave auction house and saying "Anyways Thank you! I'll sign autographs later." Law watched him leave and said "What a weird guy"
Zeus arrived at the auction house and walked in, he whistled and said "Wow real leather seats! Looks like a fancy place." he walked through the seats and on to the stage, ignoring all the workers telling him to leave and walked back stage to the slave cages. Zeus passed by Camie in a bowl and said "Hey Camie! What are you doing in here?" Camie said "I just wanted to go on the rides at the amusement park and I got captured again." Zeus sighed and said "Man, I already told you Sabaody was a dangerous place for a girl like you, don't worry Luffy and the rest will come for you. By the way did you see an old guy, he has long white hair, a beard, glasses, maybe 70% as handsome as me?" Camie was about to respond, when someone said "Oi, brat! Who were you saying was 70% as handsome as you?" Zeus and Camie turned to the man and Zeus walked towards his cage and looked him over, then he said seriously "You're right, maybe you're around 80%" the man blinked and laughed and said "Alright kid, why are you looking for me?" Zeus sighed and sat down on the floor and said "I talked to Shakky and she said maybe you were able to help me, Rayleigh-san" Rayleigh said "Probably not kid, I'm a bit tied up at the moment." Zeus shook his head and said "Not that kind of help." Rayleigh said "So what do you need?" Zeus sighed and explained what happened and how he felt about everything and added "Shakky asked me if there was anything I wanted to do, but I don't know what I want, I don't have a dream." Rayleigh said "Who are you kid?" Zeus said "Monkey D. Zeus." Rayleigh nodded and said "Why are you carrying such a heavy burden? From what you told me, your brother and crew seem to be fine even if you don't protect them but they just get beatings, so why go so far?" Zeus blinked and said "Because I don't want to see them hurt." Rayleigh laughed and said "Your brother wants to be the pirate king, right?" Zeus nodded and Rayleigh continued "How is he supposed to become that if he's always under your protection and the same goes for his crew, they won't get stronger with you protecting them, as they say 'birds need to leave the nest to learn to fly' if you're always protecting them then they'll never learn." Zeus was sad and said "So I have to leave the crew?" Rayleigh shook his head and said "No." Zeus looked at Rayleigh confused, and Rayleigh continued "You need to trust in your Nakama." Zeus froze, he stared at Rayleigh in a daze, and Rayleigh said "You can help in anyway possible and trust in them to win and have your back, let them fight their own battles. It sounds like your crew and captain care a lot for you, the worst possible thing is for you to try and die protecting them, nobody wants to live knowing that someone died to let them live." Zeus' mind exploded and he started laughing, Rayleigh smiled and said "Now tell me what's your dream?" Zeus clenched his fist and said "I want to become the strongest man in the world and help my Nakama with anything they need." Rayleigh laughed and said "That's a pretty big dream kid, but I guess when your Captain wants to be the pirate king that's just par for the course." Zeus stood up and bowed to Rayleigh and said "Thank you Rayleigh-san" Rayleigh said "No problem kid" Zeus smirked and said "I guess that makes you about 90% as handsome as me." Rayleigh blinked and started laughing and he said "You damn brat wait until I get out of this cage i'm gonna-" they heard a gunshot, Zeus frowned and said "Might wanna speed up your escape Rayleigh-san" Rayleigh nodded and broke the chains, Zeus grabbed the keys and started releasing the rest of the slaves and taking off their collars, they thanked him and Zeus waved him off "Don't mention it, go you're free now." Rayleigh smiled and Zeus threw the keys to his collar at him before punching through the wall and appearing on stage with Rayleigh.
Zeus and Rayleigh just smashed through the wall and saw Disco shaking in fear, Zeus walked up to him and said "You own this place?" Disco nodded and Zeus smiled and said "Excellent." before grabbing him and vaporizing him, he walked to the edge of the stage and saw Luffy standing over an unconscious World Noble, Zeus cleared his throat, everybody turned to him and he smiled and said to the rest of the world nobles, as red cambion horns grew on his head and his gauntlets appeared "Ladies and Gentlemen! This is a robbery! Put your hands up and we won't have any problems. Shishishishi." Luffy and the rest of the crew grinned and Rayleigh ripped the collar off of Camie and threw it in the air, setting her free. A World Noble suddenly stood up and said "What are you damn commoners doing?!" Zeus turned to him and said "Well considering I literally just said what we were doing, I'm going to assume that in addition to being inbred, you are also a retard?" Everybody in the auction house laughed, and the World Noble took out a gun and pointed it at Zeus saying "You filthy commoner, you'll be my next slave!" and he shot at Zeus, the bullet went right through him and he said "Been there done that, got a whole lot of angry comments, not trying to do it again." Zeus grabbed a thunder spear and said "You know now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I killed a Celestial Rat on my way over here." before throwing the spear through the mans head and turning him to ashes, Zeus jumped on to the seats, and crouched in front of the Celestial Dragons and said "Boo." they all fainted and Zeus stood up and laughed before snapping his fingers and causing thunder spears to appear over each of the Celestial Dragons heads and saying "Happy Birthday to me." and slamming them all down. Zeus turned to the rest and said "Hey guys! Miss me?" the crew chuckled and Luffy said "Glad to have you back." Zeus chuckled and said "Of course, how could the crew go on without it's most handsome member?" Sanji grit his teeth and spat "You bastard! It was gonna be me!" Zeus stuck out his tongue and said "By the way meet Dark King Rayleigh, Roger's first mate." he pointed to Rayleigh and then flashed in front of Law and said "Trafalgar Law, he has a middle name but thinks other people don't know about it." ZZeus flashed again and sat in between Killer and Kid and said "Killer, he likes to cut people up and wears a mask because he doesn't like his own laugh, and Kid, he has magnet powers and likes to terrorize villages so his bounty can be higher." Kid and Killer were angry and both smashed the seat Zeus was sitting in but Zeus was already gone, he reappeared and said "Annnd that's all for introductions, we have 0 seconds to leave before the marines surround us, which is to say," he licked his lips "it's time to slaughter some corrupt marines." Zeus stood in front of the crew, bowed his head and said "Sorry for protecting you all from harm like a mother, I didn't trust my Nakama and was confident in your resolves, I won't do it again." the crew all smiled and Luffy wrapped his arm around Zeus shoulder and said "Don't worry about it! Now we can go kick ass together!" Zeus and Luffy laughed and Zoro said "I expected you to sulk a bit more." Zeus said "When you're as handsome as me, you get over things pretty quickly." Zoro shook his head and Nami said "Where's Robin?" Zeus blinked and said "I think maybe still at Shakky's bar? I don't know I just went on a soul searching journey cut me some slack." Nami sighed and slapped her forehead. Zeus clapped twice and said "Hey Cow-hat guy, Funny laugh guy, spiky haired magnet guy you idiots coming? I'd personally love to hand you to the marines myself and collect your bounties but if you would like to make yourselves useful maybe we can compromise." Zeus thought for a bit, while the 3 flared up and said "Sis, their total bounties together is 677 million, we'll be rich!" Nami had beri signs in her eyes and said "Capture them, we can handle the marines ourselves!" Zeus watched the trio run out of the auction house and chuckled before he snapped his fingers and said "Damn those rascals they got away!" Nami pouted and Zeus rubbed her head and said "Don't worry Sis, i'll just sneak into skypiea and steal the golden pillar they were going to give us." the group turned and looked at Zeus, Nami froze and said "What?" Zeus said "Remember when you guys thought that the angels were coming after you with a canon? They were actually coming to give us a giant pillar of gold, that whole thing was solid gold." Nami slowly turned her head and looked at Ussop and said "Ussop weren't you the one who said they were coming at us with a huge canon?" Ussop gulped and said "Well we all make mistakes." Nami snapped and chased Ussop who ran out of the building, Zeus rubbed his chin and said "What are the odds we go outside and all the marines are already finished?" Zoro and Sanji said "100%" Zeus chuckled and said "Onward men!"
A While later
Zeus and the rest of the crew, were sitting in Shakky's bar, talking with Rayleigh, Zeus was sitting at the bar feeding Robin desserts and flirting with her, and Luffy was talking with Rayleigh. Rayleigh was explaining that Roger was actually sick his whole journey and that the marines didn't capture him, he gave himself up because he didn't have long to live anyway, the crew minus Zeus were shocked. Robin looked at Zeus and whispered "You knew?" Zeus laughed and nodded then whispered in her ear "Whispering is useless around these two." he bit her earlobe and winked at her before laughing at her red face. Shakky walked over and said "You're looking a lot better." Zeus smiled and said "What can I say? When you're this handsome it's hard to keep yourself down." Shakky giggled and Robin rolled her eyes, Zeus chuckled a bit and said "But seriously, Raleigh-san helped me a lot." Shakky smiled and said "I'm glad, We can't have the third supernova down in the dumps can we?" Zeus waved his hand and said "Dumb marine dogs, all kid does is terrorize villagers, I vaporized dozens of ships, wheres the justice for me eh?" Robin laughed and said "Dereshishishi So you want more marines coming after you?" Zeus blinked and said "Of course!" He turned to the crew and said out loud "To be chased by marines.." he paused and stood on the bar with one hand in the air and finished " A MAN'S ROMANCE!"
