"Now, tell me, why are you here?" Mikael said, his gaze piercing, and a sword in his hand.
**Whoosh**
Suddenly, the Cullens arrived at their location. Alice immediately went to Mikael's side, and the rest of them went on guard.
"Carlisle?" Said Alistair.
Carlisle, who looked confused, approached him, and he immediately put a smile on his face and said, "Alistair? Is that you?"
Carlisle, who notices a look of wariness on his friend's face, looks back at Mikael and gestures for him to sheathe his sword.
Mikael, who of course wouldn't let his guard down even if the world collapse, didn't sheathe his sword and tightened the grip of his sword.
Alice, who was beside him, brought her face close to his and whispered softly, "He's a friend, please."
Mikael then looked at the Cullens, can only sigh, and said, "Fine."
The Cullens, who were happy with his decision, smiled and averted their attention back to Carlisle and Alistair.
Alistair then approached Carlisle and offered a handshake, which he took and said, "Long time no see, my friend."
Carlisle sighed and looked at the corpse of the man who had been killed by Alistair, saying, "You've made quite a mess here."
"I'm sorry, Carlisle. You know me," Alistair put his hands up in defeat.
"Just promise me, this is the last time you'll feed on humans in our territory. We don't want people around here to become wary and start searching everywhere for the culprit if this continues."
"I promise."
Carlisle smiled and said to his family, "I'll have to take this corpse to the hospital and report it as another animal attack. You guys can go back first."
"I'll come with you," Alistair said and Carlisle nodded.
Mikael could only sigh and turn around, leaving the area with Alice on his arm and so does the Cullens.
~ One Hour Later ~
Carlisle and Alistair can be seen in the car on their way to Carlisle's house. The two are catching up with each other.
"How many years has it been since the last time we saw each other?" Alistair asked.
"Maybe a hundred? I can't exactly tell," Carlisle answered.
"So, why are you coming here?" Carlisle asked.
"Oh, don't mind me, I was just passing by and on my way to Canada. You know that I'm always on the run from the Volturi," Alistair said while looking out of the window.
"Do you need help? I can let you stay with us for a few days," Carlisle offered.
"Are you sure? What about your coven?"
"Don't worry, they're not my coven, they're my Family."
"..."
"I'm sure they'll welcome you," Carlisle smiled at him.
Alistair nodded and then asked, "Is he... also part of your family?"
"You mean Mikael? Of course he is. He is our newest member and also the mate of one of my daughters," said Carlisle.
"He seems hostile to me," Alistair shrugged.
"Well, it's because months ago, we had an uninvited guest on our territory who was slaughtering people. And also, tomorrow is a special day for us. One of my sons, Edward, has recently found his mate, and tomorrow we will celebrate her birthday."
Alistair nodded in understanding, then said, "I smelled the scent of the dogs when I came here, although it was just briefly, but I definitely smelled them."
"Oh, you mean the shape shifters. They occupy the other side of Forks, while my family and I occupy this side," explained Carlisle.
"How come you guys are not fighting each other? Aren't they supposed to hate our kind?" asked Alistair.
Carlisle sighed and said, "We made a pact with their ancestors in the past. As long as we're not crossing each other's territory, we can live side by side."
Alistair nodded, and after a few minutes of silence, he took out his phone from his inner pocket.
"I didn't know you were interested in technology," Carlisle suddenly said.
Alistair, who was prepared with an answer, said, "Well, you have to adapt, right? Besides, I have to blend in."
Carlisle just smiled and focused back on driving.

Alistair then put his phone away and looked out of the window again, with a thought on his mind, 'Please, don't forgive me, Carlisle.'
~ A Few Moments Later ~
Alistair and Carlisle can be seen arriving at his house. Carlisle then gestured for Alistair to come with him. After they were inside, Carlisle introduced Alistair to his family.
"Well, Alistair, welcome to my home. These are my family,"
The Cullens just nodded at him, except Esme, who shook his hand. Then Carlisle explained to them that Alistair would be staying with them for a few days before going to Canada.
"Fortunately, we have a guest room," Esme said.
"Don't worry about me, I'll just stay in the attic," Alistair said, then he left.
Carlisle smiled awkwardly at his family and said, "He's not a people person."
Carlisle then proceeded to tell his family about Alistair, such as the first time he and Alistair met, his mistrust of people, and the lingering fear towards the Volturi that kept him always on the run from place to place, thus making him a nomad.
"What about the corpse? Did the police say anything?" Esme asked in a concerned tone.
Carlisle nodded and sighed. "Fortunately, they didn't suspect anything and treated this as another unfortunate accident of an animal attack."
"But they say that they'll be investigating the entire forest of Forks for about a week, so we need to be cautious when we hunt."
Hearing the answer, the family sighs in relief, but Edward can be seen frowning. Since Alistair arrived, he has wanted to say something, but he is afraid that Alistair would hear, and the friendship between Carlisle and Alistair would become strained.
"Where are Mikael and Alice?" Carlisle asked.
"We haven't seen them since we were in the forest, but I'm certain we already know where they are, right?" Thea said, smiling, and the rest nodded in agreement.
Sure enough, Alistair can be seen in the attic, listening to their conversation the whole time.
'So he is not living with them, huh,' thought Alistair, and then he pulled out his phone and sent the information to the Daggers.
After he was done, he put it back in his pocket and leaned against the attic. He closed his eyes, but suddenly he remembered the earlier scene. He quickly zipped into the woods, but then he abruptly stopped midway.
He then looked at his trembling hands and said, "Should I run? My instinct told me to run as far away as possible from this area!"
But he remembered what the organization told him: "Do your job, maybe you'll get a chance to meet the higher-ups and you'll get what you want."
With a helpless and reluctant expression, Alistair made his way back to the Cullens' house...
