Capítulo 112: Ch 102 – I’M A GOD OF MAGIC!
"Hououin-san, please answer the question on the board," with my voice lying down on the desk, I let out a tired yawn from my mouth and took a quick glance at the board in the distance where a surprisingly hot teacher was standing.
"It's x = 3 and 5 for equations 1 and 2 respectively," I said with a monotonous tone to indicate my boredom for the class, well it's not wrong to assume I was bored because I am.
"Good job Hououin-san," said the teacher with an amicable smile, she was probably glad that somebody as smart as me was in her class to get extra credit for raising a genius such as me.
[Rintarou, why are we here again? How would that help us find this mysterious nemesis of yours anyway?]
Well Ddraig, it's because my ginormous brain can sense that something is strange with Kuoh Academy and the guy must surely be studying here, besides, you're bored already when we've only been here for less than a day!
[Okay, I admit that I'm bored staying here but c'mon! Issei is right over there! You expect me to be comfortable when another Ddraig is sitting right over there?!]
Shush, you'll get used to it, but there is one seat that is vacant in the far back so if we find that motherfucker studying here, it means my genius is beyond divine.

Shut up, I'm also bored you know. Sigh, I'll just leave a clone here for now so I can finally go study Rune Magic.
With a snap, everyone in the room including Issei has their mind short circuit for a split second and after leaving a blob of flesh on my chair, I disappeared with a single mental prompt to find myself on the rooftop of the same building I usually stay at for lunch a few months ago in my original universe.
[Finally, we're going on another adventure. How are you even going to learn Rune Magic in the first place? You know it's a vastly different field from your current formula-based magic system.]
"Well I do know a way that would require… a little bit of thrill and action," with a flick of my hand, Boosted Gear went on to envelop my left hand with its iconic design gleaming under the bright sun on top of us.
[Oh? What thrill are we going to do?]
"Eh, it involves doing some crimes," as I went to connect with Ddraig, energy went on to course towards the Boosted Gear as we both shouted "[Balance Breaker: Scale Mail!]"
(A Few Hours Later)
"RUN AWAY!" shouted a group of people wearing strange yellow clothes with floating symbols around them varying in colors that correspond to the five elements.
[HAHAHA!] laughed Ddraig in glee as I charge up a destructive ball of energy on my right hand while pointing it towards the pesky little bugs in the distance.
"HA!" I shouted behind my draconic red helm that distorted my voice with the red ball of energy shooting towards the runic barrier of the Magicians in front of me.
And the moment it made contact with their barrier, a harrowing explosion went on to envelop the area destroying most of the land around us leaving behind only nothing but destroyed grounds and burnt plants.
[How did you know there would be practitioners of Rune Magic in China?]
"It's because of the strange talisman I found a few days prior I enrolled at Kuoh Academy in the antic shop on the east side of Kuoh. The symbols were reminiscent of Chinese symbols and I was right, these exorcists can use Rune Magic," I muttered while landing on the ground as my glaring red wings retracted to my back.
[But it's kinda harsh that you went to destroy a Buddhist Temple.]
"Stop worrying Ddraig, besides, they attacked us first when I said I wanted to learn their magecraft,"
[But… you were wearing the Scale Mail so who wouldn't attack a random person who suddenly appeared inside the temple wearing a red armor]
"Well it doesn't matter, this is just a parallel universe and we can just go back to the previous universe we are in that holds the real reincarnator who dared to attack me," shaking my head at Ddraig's worries, I went to the still-standing Buddhist hall that holds the studies of the Buddhist Monks and their secrets.
"Whew, see Ddraig, a few lives are worth it for my revenge, just look at these runes! So much to study! Ooooh!" just the sheer amount I can learn from is really making my mind go happy and produce joy chemicals.
[Well let's get out of here!] shouted Ddraig as I sensed tons of other beings appearing outside the hall I was currently in, their energy was far more powerful than the one I previously exterminated, and their magical signatures were also different.
"On it!" I shouted and with a magic circle appearing on top of us, we disappeared in the nick of time to find ourselves inside a random cottage in the middle of nowhere.
"Finally back home, in the middle of nowhere in a random forest that holds none of my precious lab equipment," I said as the Scale Mail got reabsorbed back to the Boosted Gear while I reverted back to a weaker state as the enhancements of the Boosted Gear was gone.
[Well I'm going to sleep now, I can already see you are about to go into a deep studying phase trying to get into Rune Magic, wake me up later.] said Ddraig, that sleepy dragon, always off to dreamland when I'm going to do something cool and exhilarating like getting into Rune Magic.
"Welp, let's do this," with a crack of my fingers that let out satisfying sounds, a horde of scrolls went to plop down on my wooden table so I can go into a concentrated studying phase.
(A Few Hours Later)
"Words, symbols, or runes. They hold power that grants them special abilities like the Fire symbol holding the element of fire. But you can also combine them with other runes to produce more effects like the five-element diagram to empower one element etc. Okay, I get the gist of it," I muttered as floating runes appeared all around me to show my mastery.
Most of the time, Rune Magic practitioners need to start with talismans to inscribe the runes and grant them magical abilities but I can directly skip to the "write on air" stage and just directly make the symbols with my mana.
This magic system is very interesting but also closely related to my Formula Magic with the main difference is that Rune Magic doesn't have math but instead something like Color Theory for artists, you're trying to match colors or opposing colors to bring a more powerful effect to the art piece.
Like this simple combination of Wood and Fire, you can make Wood the supportive element and empower the Fire spell.
It's really simple but with the sheer amount of runes there are and how you can make your own, then the effects are much more varied and powerful.
"Okay, and the way they gather mana is also interesting. Because formula magic requires tons of brainpower, we use the magic circles as a template to lessen the burden of the formulas but Rune Magic, however. Our mana amount doesn't determine our combat effectiveness, it is instead based on our rune mastery and what we can do with it. Even someone who has a pitiful amount of mana can fight against Tier 3 magicians when they have a high rune mastery like using the Five Element Diagram to their advantage to lower the cost but also empower the effect," I muttered as five runes appeared on my hand and as I choose Water as the main element, the diagram went to change to channel most of the synergy towards Water.
And with a single snap, rain started to pour down from the sky unbelievably enough even though it's a small area, it's still rain!
"Unbelievable, I used just a Low-Class amount of mana to generate rain! Well, my mastery over runes is already astonishing but just the cost to effect ratio is beyond what I ever did before!" how is this even possible?!
Even though the rain is like only the area of my house, to make rain is live a divine task only godly beings are capable of doing but I was able to do it with just the simple Feng Shui diagram!
What about rituals, or using the powers of gods?!
So many possibilities have been brought from one magic system that coincides within this ridiculous universe where Devils, Angels, Dragons, Youkais, and more exist in!
And what if I can also use the surroundings to my advantage as a natural diagram to empower my spells?!
And the weather, the placement of the sun, the moon!
I can use all of them to my advantage!
Not only that, I can combine the runes and the formulas of two different magical systems!
With a flick of my arm, a formula has appeared in the air in front of me made out of different runes ranging from Kanji to Aztec symbols to cast a simple spell that would bring an effect I desire, with the combination of different meanings of different symbols transformed into a mathematical equation, the answer it brings is my desired change to the world!
"I SHALL BRING RAIN!" I shouted and out came a rumble from the clouds high above me, and out came… rain!
Downpours of water and rumbling of thunder, I have done an unachievable task that is simply… divine!
"I AM GOD!!!!" I shouted as a bolt of lightning flashed behind me, flashing my manic grin as ideas upon ideas poured into my mind.
[H- huh? Oh, good morning Rintarou, nice weather isn't it?]
"HAHAHA!" I let out a nefarious laugh from my mouth as another equation appeared in the air in front of me and with a simple magical prompt, my mana got drained at a rapid pace along with the rain clouds in the sky getting dispelled as the bright sun appeared high above the sky.
Then miraculously, as if the sunlight around us gained magical properties, the trees and plants around me started to grow in a ridiculous state until the forest around me got filled with gigantic trees straight out of a fantasy world.
"HEHEHEHAHAHA! DO YOU KNOW WHAT I ACHIEVED DDRAIG!"
[W- was that Rune and Formula Magic?! B- but how?! You know all too well that two magical systems can't operate at the same time!]
"Yes, Ddraig! I did do something called impossible in this world! I managed to combine two different magecraft and achieved god-like magic!" I shouted as we appeared in the middle of the freezing cold desert under the shining moon high above us.
"BEAR WITNESS!" with a flick, a drastically long equation appeared in the air around us that no mortal man would be able to comprehend and as soon as it got ahold of reality, a miracle was brought.
High above us, we started to see flakes of snow and from the ground below was the sandy floor getting covered in crystal blue ice, as if it was a scene ripped out of a fairy tale.
The icy ground and snowy sky connected with one another to form a long pillar of ice and with a snap, the age of ice was brought to the desert.
[Holy shit?! You used the desert's fiery nature along with the moon's principle of cold to alter the reality of the desert and bring about the ice age?! How much mana did it cost?!] exclaimed Ddraig as he saw through what I did and why I specifically went to a desert in the middle of the night when the moon was fully seen with its circular structure helping me to make a perfect circle of freezing ice.
"All of my Tier 4 mana, but that's it! I only used a pitiful amount of mana to literally alter reality at a scale that ranges for tens of kilometers! That's the glory my new magic brings!" I exclaimed as I glance around my creation which brings a tear to my eye.
"I told you Ddraig, Rune Magic has potential, see! Just look at this! THERE'S MOTHERFUCKING ICE IN THE DESERT! I LITERALLY ALTERED THE PRINCIPLE STRUCTURE OF A DESERT! IT WILL NOW FOREVER BE THIS FREEZING HELL IN THE FUTURE!" do you wanna know what this means! It means I'm a fucking God of magic with unrivaled talent!
[Fine fine, you win. You gotta teach me this once you make me your so-called perfect body in the future]
"Yes yes, you're my partner remember? Of course, I'll teach you my craft in the future (especially when we might become interdimensional fugitives in the future, I'll need you to save my ass if that happens),"
[What?]
"Nothing!"
AN: This is 2180 words, you're welcome.
If you think that's complicated, wait till I add religion, epics and legends, faith, myths and perceptions of man, principles of the five elements, and more bullshit to add to his bullshit Runic Formula magic.
But once again, I just made it sound op when it's not that powerful. He needs to be really creative to use this to his advantage in combat and to do this wide scale spells means he needs to use the environment around him in his formula and that's pretty hard to do with so much random variables like placement of the sun, direction of the wind, state of the ground etc. But he is improving mentally speaking and he was able to alter the permanent weather of a desert so casually so who knows.
But the quick explanation is that he uses the natural synergies of runes along with the natural environment like how a desert is principally hot and the moon is cold, so he adds them as a part to the equation to basically make the Ice Age a domain type spell that got empowered by runes that focuses on Water and also uses the distortion of fire by the desert to control the water of the moon to bring about the Ice Age, confusing? Well wait for Vol4 because that would be more bullshit.
