"Turns out it's an elf, how strange, what's an elf doing in the Saint Haven?"
Barnac touched his head curiously.
"Hehe, she just paid me a deposit for tens of thousands of arrows. I hope she never comes back," the old blacksmith nearby chuckled.
Hearing this, everyone understood that a deposit for tens of thousands of arrows was naturally for preparing for war.
"It seems we'll meet again soon," Lin Yi said with a faint smile.
"Are we going to ally with the elves? But I feel that elves are rather arrogant," Lambert frowned and complained.
"Which direction did she go?" Suddenly, Lin Yi seemed to remember something and his expression turned serious.
"What's going on?"
Barnac asked in confusion, feeling that something big was about to happen, but still pointed toward the distant city wall, "It seemed like she went that way."
"I heard the sounds of monsters."
Lin Yi couldn't say that he had read the original story and knew that Saint Haven would soon be attacked by monsters, so he made up a reason.
"Monsters? Where are there monsters?"
"Lin Yi, you must have heard wrong. This is the Saint Haven."
Barnac looked around; there was only the noise of chatter and the streets were busy.
If monsters appeared even in the capital of the human kingdom, that would be a big problem.
Without much explanation, Lin Yi vanished in a flash, chasing in the direction that Liya had just left.
"Wait for me."
After spending two days together, Lambert and the others chose to trust Lin Yi and hurriedly followed.
On the other side, after revealing her elf identity, Liya quickly left the bustling streets.
After all, the relationship between humans and elves was tense. She had agreed to meet the princess outside the city after paying the deposit for the arrows, waiting until the princess had discussed alliance matters with the human king.
Before the signs of the Black Dragon awakening, humans and elves had been at war over territorial disputes and other issues.
Liya gracefully landed on the ground; the walls of the city were nothing for an elf. Outside Saint Haven was a dense forest and greenery; the air was clean, and the environment was beautiful.
"Hmm." Liya closed her eyes and took a breath of fresh air, feeling refreshed. For an elf, nature was more attractive than any bustling town.
The high walls felt like a constraint to her.
Liya jumped off the wall, but just as she was about to leave, she suddenly stopped and dodged backward.
With a "whoosh," a sharp arrow flew past her face and pinned into the city wall behind her.
Liya's mood instantly tensed up, and she saw countless monsters hiding in the bushes outside the city. At a glance, there were at least hundreds, maybe even more.
"It's an elf!"
"She discovered us!"
"Kill her!"
"My God, monsters have actually ambushed outside of Saint Haven, I must report to Princess immediately." Liya focused her gaze, took a folded bow from behind her, shook her hand, and the bow quickly opened.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Elves have unique talents; they can control arrows to automatically track enemies, making their archery incredibly accurate.
Every arrow shot by them hits the bullseye perfectly, each shot taking a monster's life. In a short moment, Liya has claimed over a dozen lives.
However, concentrated fire cannot stop the hundreds of advancing monsters. As one falls, another takes its place. Though weaker than humans or elves, these monsters are like fanatical religious followers. They worship power and the Black Dragon, willing to give up their lives for it.
Whoosh!
After defending herself with arrows for a while, monsters have already closed in on Liya. Blades swing at her from all directions. With a light jump, she escapes the monsters' encirclement and shoots another arrow mid-air, taking another life.
Dodging, shooting, and hand-to-hand combat, Liya maximizes the agile physical attributes of elves.
However, surrounded by an increasing number of monsters, she's growing increasingly exhausted.
"It's not good, there are too many monsters here. How could they get past the human sentries near the Saint Haven?"
Liya considers retreating, but she's already encircled. Even breaking free now seems difficult.
Whoosh!
Dodging another attack, Liya fires back, hitting a monster between the eyes. Jumping back to widen the distance, she reaches for her quiver and finds it empty.
"Damn it," Liya sighs heavily, utterly drained despite only a few minutes of intense combat.
"Am I going to die here today?" Her eyes are filled with despair as she tightly grips her longbow.
"Move!"
From behind the monsters, a gigantic one, standing seven meters tall and wearing black armor, steps forward. A mere elf has killed so many of his minions.
He pushes aside a monster in his path and raises a massive hammer, aiming directly at Liya.
Bang! Bang!
The giant monster's movements are somewhat clumsy, and Liya finds his hammer attacks easy to dodge, but his relentless assault forces her to step back.
"Boom!"
With the giant monster's next attack, along with other monsters blocking her, Liya has no place to go; her delicate body is pressed against the city wall.
Seeing the approaching hammer, Liya closes her eyes in fear.
At the critical moment, she suddenly feels a large hand wrap around her waist. The next moment, she feels lighter, as if lifted into the air.
Stunned, Liya looks at her rescuer and sees a familiar face.
"You're that human?"
Liya recognizes Lin Yi, the human she had met in Saint Haven.
"Be careful."
But there's no time for thoughts; she sees the giant monster launching another attack, the massive hammer swinging towards Lin Yi. She quickly shouts a warning.
