Capítulo 11: An encounter

"Ah," the guard was startled.

Right after he entered the double door, an elf silhouette suddenly showed up right in front of him.

"What's the rush?" the silhouette said while standing there, forming a shadow in the dark hallway.

"Sir, the elf at the northwest forest had returned," the guard said dejectedly despite this being good news.

"What happened?", the silhouette said, standing still, an ominous feeling rose in his heart. Usually, these people would be celebrating right away if a group returned.

"E-Elarc, H-He ha-had died-", the guard stuttered.

"WHAT", the silhouette came out of the shadow, revealing a middle-aged elf with similar facial features to Elarc. "IS IT TRUE WHAT YOU SAID? This is not the time for jokes!" the middle-aged elf said as he quickly ran out of the huge tree. The guard then followed behind him.

As he arrived at the tent where the previous runaway elves were gathered, he asked everyone there panicked. The elves there then quickly explained it.

Several minutes later after he finished hearing their explanations he kneeled on the ground, his eyes lifeless, his mind on verge of breaking, "my son", the middle-aged man said in an anguished tone. "My son!", he said again, but this time with a different tone, it was anger.

Ken arrived at the north pole, he looked around and nodded his head. Indeed this place seemed the same as the one he saw on television and such. Although he didn't know where the north pole is he used the classic where the sun was at and determined where to go. It took him two hours to reach this place because at first, he thought he could reach this place with just winds propelling him, but after two hours he grew bored and use the void to teleport.

Upon arriving, he began wandering around and saw some creatures, a white feline similar to a fox but with small peaks protruding from its spine, the appearance remembered him of a stegosaurus. There are also creatures the same as penguins except they have six eyes. As he floated there, he then checked his body and the flame seemed to be as alive as ever.

"Maybe I have to go deeper", he said as he flew deeper into the freezing north. If the flame will still be burning after he reached the end of this north continent, then he would try something else.

As he was flying, he caught sight of a big village, he was overjoyed and wanted to go there, but remembering the fire on his body, he sighed and continued flying deeper.

After a couple of minutes later he could see the end of the large frozen continent and was surprised. He had just flown casually, how could he reach the end already. He did quick math and deduced that the distance he had traveled was only about one hundred kilometers.

"What a small land", he thought.

He turned back, this time he analyzed the surrounding ice element to determine which was colder.

As He arrived at the coldest area he glanced at the fire on his body and smirked, he collected the ice element and combined it with his minus one thousand coldness, resulting in a much colder one on top of his hand. He then splashed it to his torso, instantly freezing it along with the fire. Ken was satisfied, but that didn't last long. He frowned, indeed his body was freezing. As he remembered, shouldn't his body be immune?

He didn't think much of it, at least the fire was gone, He then went to the village that he had spotted early on.

Upon arriving, he flew down and landed right in the middle of a large but desolate village and looked around with curious eyes. He wondered what creature could live in this seemingly cold place. He could feel that many eyes were watching him from those small hut windows

Just then many people came from their huts, and they are surprisingly human some man some woman, bringing their spears which seemed like their only weapons with some of them having a spear made of ice.

Ken was excited, this was the first time he had met humans in this world, although their skins are a bit too white to be called human, he doesn't mind.

"Uh hello, my name is He Ken, I come in peace and only need to ask some questions..", Ken said in the language that elf spoke, as he thought that's what they use in this world, but the more he spoke, the more he felt something was wrong.

The surrounding crowd was becoming warier as he spoke as if his words were threats.

Ken was confused and decided to speak in English this time, seeing no reaction, he changed again and again.

The crowd was becoming restless by this yellow fellow in front of them, they were confused since the beginning because although his features closely resemble themselves, his skin tone was similar to the creature that they hate, elves, albeit a little darker.

Eventually, after a random rambling by Ken, one of the albino-human grew impatient and shouted something. They all held their guard even tighter after this man's shout

Ken couldn't understand but he smiled because at last there is a reaction, he was starting to believe what he had seen was just a ghost. One of them then shouted, "Wh.. d. yo. wan."

Ken then repeated his same sentence with this language, albeit hard, but he managed to convey what he meant to these people.

"Hahah, that's interesting, tell us more about that phone thingy"

"Haha sure, but I'm kinda hungry"

"Ah pardon me, sir, I got too carried"

"No problem"

"What are y'all standing there for? Prepare our feast!"

Out of nowhere the village chief and Ken got chummy. After the initial greeting, they cleared some misunderstandings and got closer instantly then started conversing about the earth.

After not meeting any human for quite long, Ken started to miss them so he got totally addicted to blabbering everything here. While the albinos couldn't understand some words that were spoken by this yellow-skinned human, most of them got intrigued by it.

"Here, sir, our best delicacy"

Ken was naturally kind and accepted it, but when he looked at the dishes, he couldn't help but want to puke. Hell, why are they all still bloody? No, the worst part was that they are all uncooked!

"Uh, kernel, why are they uncooked?", Ken asked kernel which was the village chief's name.

"What is uncooked?", he asked unknowingly.

"Use fire.. and roast it? Anything as long as it's... cooked?", Ken said as he also became confused. Wasn't cooking a fundamental thing? Even human's predecessor's first activity was lighting a fire and roast something right?

"Fire?", Kernel asked alerted. "We don't use fire, our frostian tribe reserved our food with ice."

Seeing the situation, Ken was getting more and more confused. Why are they looking at him like that? That was just a normal question, right?

After tinkering for a while, Ken chose to just eat the dishes, and surprisingly, they were quite good even though there was no spice, the raw meat tasted heavenly.

"Wow, how's it this good?", Ken started a conversation, hoping to salvage the situation.

Hearing this, the village chief put on a smile and just explained.

Apparently, the meat that was used was that of a frost elemental monster, the characteristic of this monster was that the more exposed it was too cold, the stronger it will be. The same goes for its meat, the colder it was the tastier it became.

'Just imagine if culinary was created in this world, how more amazing this food will be.. well unfortunately I can't cook and this is good enough so whatever', ken thought.

Ken conversed with them while also acquiring some information about this world, but alas, it seemed that this tribe was secluded so they didn't know anything about the rest of the world, they also seemed to be hiding something. While Ken was merciless in killing, he wasn't well versed in interrogation so he just decided to let it go.

He saw that while the village was indeed huge, the huts weren't, so he decided to leave the place after exchanging some words.

His heart was satisfied with the information that he had gotten from Kernel. He took out a nontransparent ice plate which had lines and areas carved on it, it was an odd way to draw a map but it worked, this ice plate was given by the village chief as a parting gift, of course, It wasn't the original, Ken was just allowed to copy it. It's said to be a village treasure since long ago, but because they don't get out much, it's just gaining dust so they showed it to him. It wasn't a complete world map, but it showed some nearby terrain and village.

After flying a distance away, he stopped in the sky above a thick forest and he looked down. Below him, there was a small, slightly hidden, lively village. There lived many red-skinned dwarfs. This was the first destination he had chosen, the flame dwarf village. Flame dwarves were described as peace-loving creatures as their main focus was to make the best tools, but because of their nature, they were naturally sought after by other creatures in this world, at least that's what Kernel told him.

As he saw it, this village didn't seem like a village at all, it seemed packed like a city, but with less territory. The terrain around it didn't seem complacent, as if the entire city wasn't originally there.

Ken knew that his appearance would definitely not blend well so he prepared a very smart idea. First, He will freeze himself....

*stut*

"ouch", Ken was startled as something pierced his head.

A hole bore through his head but was immediately healed. Just as he was startled, he became even more startled, he could see that the trajectory of that projectile came from a grassland below... wait, there was a grassland? No, it was... THE VILLAGE!

"WHERE'S THE VILLAGE?", Ken was panicking as he searched left and right but couldn't find it, he then rocketed down and landed as he looked around. This huge grassland was where the village was.. how could it be gone?

Was he hallucinating? no... it was even drawn on the map!

Ken felt his head pounding, he was having a headache! His plan... his plan to meet a certified blacksmith and then learn blacksmith so he could make an overpowered tool or weapon... it's gone.

"My opportunity!!", Ken kneeled while looking down. For a village like that.. to disappear. The only explanation would be either teleportation or stealth, but as the wind, his control didn't bump into anything in the whole grassland, he knew that it must be teleportation.

"Haa", Ken sighed. But as he just wanna fly again, he ended up in a golden room.
