Capítulo 1: Chapter 1: Discovering K-Drama
One hot summer afternoon
Suzy really hates the hot summer days. "So hot", she whispers as she wipes sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand. The large sun hat she is wearing does nothing to prevent sweating as she had hoped. Instead the hat seems to trap the sun heat in her hair and the sweat from her overheated hair keeps running down her face, down her neck and into her round-necked and long- sleeved white t-shirt.
"Summer really is not a favorite for anti-uv addicts like me". Since she found out that she is sensitive to uv and thus developed hyperpigmentation due to sun damage two years ago, Suzy became really crazed with avoiding the sun, wearing sunscreen every day and went so far as to wear long sleeved outfits during summer in addition to hats and glasses.
While walking under this hot summer afternoon in July, Suzy recalls her simple life. Suzy lost her parents at a very young age thus her memories of her parents are very vague despite her having many photo albums of her childhood. Since the age of eight, she lived with foster parents arranged by the state until she turned 18 from when she was accepted to her choice of university in a different city. This gave her the opportunity to move out from her foster parents. Though it was only moving into school campus, she preferred the privacy it gave her and the freedom to live anyhow she wanted and on her own terms. Though her foster parents were nice people , it was hard to completely open up to them when she knew they were not her real parents.
University really was a life- changing experience. She found herself growing from an introverted and antisocial girl to a confident, smart and decisive lady who knew what she wanted and how to work hard to achieve it. She studied economics and business management and managed to finish her bachelor after three years while working part-time as a waitress. Unfortunately, in her second year of university she started developing acne and hyperpigmentation. At that time, she never really was interested not invested time in skin care so she knew nothing about skin care products, their reactions nor about the use of sun protection. Due to that, she spent a whole year without treating the beginning stages of her skin problems and thus in her third year of university, her skin had many blemishes that were so skin deep that they couldn't be treated in a short time. In addition the really effective and quick facial treatments costed a lot of money that she didn't have.She was literally living on study loans and a part time job. Just before she graduated from university with her bachelors, she finally was able to receive skin treatment and protection guide from a dermatologist and thus she began her journey of trial and failure of skin care products including sun screen. Until she discovered korean skin care products.
